Chapter 159: The Search

Amaris's POV

I kept giving her tissue to wipe her tears while my hand strokes her and Flynn did the talking.

The Matron was a nun who wore a sober gaze at Mia, pleading that it was enough of the tears and everyone makes mistakes.

Her hands were stretched forward on her desk as it seems her eyes were staring at the grandfather clock in her office.

Possibly, she was running out of time. Unfortunately, the child has been adopted.

That information was gotten from the records which she searched from ten years ago.

I folded my lips as Mia's tears weren't ending. This was just a bad idea but for a reason, I felt she meant it.

Flynn grimanced at her, he never expected she'd cry. He only advised she appears vulnerable and remorseful just to convince the Matron to help her out.

"Please, can we get the record then about the parents who adopted him?" She cried, sniffing and the nun heaved.

The nun drew her back to lean on the chair as that question seems tensed and quite disturbing.

Her eyes dart to and fro while the three of us gaze at her so fixed that any reply she gives has our lives on it.

"We don't really share their record..."

I held the nun's hands as tears brewed up in my eyes with shaky lips. The nun was stunned as she widened her eyes at me.

"Please, give my friend a chance, she has only 100 days to live and in her last days, she'd want to take a glimpse at the child"

I threw my gaze at Mia who sniffed and nodded and also Flynn who heaved sadly.

"It's the last wish of a mother who regrets her action" Flynn added and the nun gasped.

I let go of her hand and she placed her hand on her chest with a forlorn look at us.

She folded her lips as though reminiscing over what she intended to do next.

"I really wish I could help..."

"Please nun, don't let me die without making it up" mia said wiping her tears. Her eyes had swollen as she had cried out her eyes indeed.

However, the nun was still quiet and I was praying in my heart.

"Here you go" i responded but she wouldn't collect the table water from me. Her head was just resting on the headrest of the bench she sat on.

Her eyes watches over the kids who were playing around. It seems the weather was favourable now and the cool breeze settled on our skin.

The sun decided to hide behind the clouds and the kids who had no worries in life had the same facial expression just as how we met them.

"I'm such a bad mother" she began, she had a crack in her voice and that was certainly because of the tears.

She was wearing dark shades to cover up her swollen eyes. Her arms were crossed on her chest as she pants softly.

"Com'on Mia, you've got to stay strong"

"This is me being strong and seriously amaris, 100 days to live?" She snapped, her voice seems rather cold now as she drew down the sun glasses and gestured to me to speak.

I shrugged my shoulders and sat beside her while helping myself with the water because I was thirst and she wasn't the only one to cry too.

I joined in just to convince that harden heart of the nun. At least, we got to know who the adopted parents are.

"It's the only thing I could come up with and that changed her mind faster" I defended feeling a bit of pride coursing through me.

She scoff and shook her head, then growl. Her feet kicked against the grasses in front of us.

"This is taking like forever to find that boy"

We just began and she was already tired, seriously? She dragged Flynn and I into this and so has to face it.

I shifted my gaze at her and pat her shoulder while letting out a sided smile.

"That's your punishment though for leaving him"

"Yeah and this is too much for me"

I guess I learnt this phrase from her because she always says that when she's frustrated.

"We'd pulled this together, remember, team work" I said encouraging her.

She rubbed my palm and nodded before returning her gaze back to the kids in the field.

"He is so charming" her lips suddenly muttered and I threw my gaze to look at who she was referring to.

It was Flynn helping a child get on a bicycle, he was also distributing gifts for them. Now I see what all those gifts in the trunk were for.

I let out a broad smile but Mia's smile was broader, I knew she haven't gotten over him even though she had a fiance.

"I can't help but fall in love amaris" she said and I pushed her head aside just so she'd look away.

"Hey ladies!" He called from the distance he was and our already settled gaze waiver at him.

"Mind to join me? This needs team work you know!" He added and I chuckled at how enthralling he sounded.

Mia jumped up from where she sat. I knew she just wanted a chance to be close to him.

Her feet ran hastily towards him, even though there were nuns around to do that, he still wanted us to come along.

I haven't moved from where I sat, my eyes watches as Mia chuckles around him, her excitement when handing over the gifts.

She had placed a hand on his shoulder and I was boiling with rage but Flynn shoved her hand aside.

Did he forget about me?

"Com'on amaris love!" He declared and I rose up from the bench, my cheeks flushes red.

I should stop acting this way because I was dying with jealousy. We were all friends but hers with Flynn needs limit.

He is mine now.
