Chapter 128: A Business Proposal

Amaris POV

For a moment, it felt like an illusion, not until he said;

"Let's get to business"

I swallowed hard, trembling and then I scoffed.

"Caleb, what are you doing here!" I growl frustrated and his reply was;

"Do I know you?"

I fluttered my eyes, scrolling to and fro. My lips cussed at him.

"Is this some kind of joke? I told you to stay..."

"I'm here to meet the manager but it seems I'm at the wrong table" he cuts in and I swallowed hard, feeling like a fool.

"Kim, check the address, I need to know if I'm not wasting my time here" he furthers and quickly the first bouncer affirms to it that they were at the right place.

Seriously, I am not in! However, if this alliance fails, I'd be blamed for it. I just needed his signature.

It's so annoying, I can't believe I'd be working under Caleb again, how did this happen?

"Would you keep staring or hand over the paper works?" He snapped jerking me back to reality and I could only scoff again.

Since he decides to play we don't know each other, I'd play along. Hastily, I brought out the file and handed it to him.

Our fingers touched and I shuddered but he looked calm as he began to go through the paper works.

It felt like back in the days when I have to admire him, behind a desk, looking serious and enchanting.

He let out a sigh, his eyes hasn't looked at me and I suddenly wanted him to.

"Let me hear your presentation" he furthers and I swallowed hard. I shouldn't let my personal life get involved.

It's just business. I voiced out my opinion on the project and he just listened keenly, throwing difficult questions at me until we were both silent.

"Impressive" he uttered in a cold tone and handed my file over to the second bouncer.

"It's a deal if you'd become my secretary" he added, his eyes peering into mine and I only gasped unbelievably as this was too much on me.

"What?" I retort but in a calm tone while whimpering inside my heart.

"It's up to you, manager" he boldly asserts, not taking his eyes off me and I felt mousey.

"I can't be your secretary..."

"Then I'm terminating the contract, you have a debt to pay, your house is on mortgage which I have bought for you..."

"Stop" I ordered panting hard as it seems he knows everything about me already. What? He is buying my house which is bemusing.

I recently heard we've got a new landlord and I can't believe it's Caleb. He is owning everything that belongs to me.

I could only scoff, perplexed by the whole scenario. At this point, I should head to a bar and drink out my misery.

I don't want to be close to him, see him or have anything to do with him but he keeps coming back.

"What's your decision? Manager?" He emphasized and I bite my lower lip, feeling nausea.

****

Arghh!

"I should have just said no!" That was the first line I uttered once I got home.

Why is he bent on stressing me? He even offered to take me home but I refused and boarded a car rather.

I want to make him pay, it doesn't end here.

Annoyingly, I kicked my feet against anything I come across in my room, exhausted for the day and I growl.

"Something terrible should happen to him" I cussed kicking my feet in the air and rolling my eyes.

I raked a finger through my hair staring at the mirror and cursing him like he was right there and I wish I said all those words to him.

Once I was done ranting to the invisible Caleb, I wash up and then paced towards the balcony to receive some fresh air.

My eyes scruntized the surrounding and I tried to keep calm and not let my anger that control.

While my eyes decided to explore, my jaw dropped when I saw a man coming out from the house opposite mind.

He was also standing at the balcony but quite busy on his phone. He looked familiar and I wish to see his face.

His long hair covered his face was bent silently. He had no shirt and his sturdy abs were just staring at me.

Sweat beads on my face as I narrowed my eyes at a tattoo around his chest. It was damn familiar.

My mind imagined nasty things I want to do with him already and gosh he drop dead gorgeous from behind.

He turned around, and I curiously wanted to see him. The connection was there and I couldn't help but stare.

I was meant to return inside now but no, there's no harm in admiring one's body.

When he rose his head, our eyes locked and air ceased from me. I quickly bent to the ground, biting my teeth and feeling shameless.

That was Caleb? When did we become neighbors. I sat on the ground, trying to hide but he could see me through the rails of the balcony.

A scoff escaped his lips as he rolled his eyes and returned back to his room. Damn it, why does it have be rails not blocks?

I tried my best to stand up, feeling so embarrassed by how quickly I tried to hide when he can still me.

My heart was in my mouth and my hands were shaking.

Almost immediately, I could hear my doorbell ring. Oh no, it must be Caleb! I'm not answering it.

Nervously, I rushed to my room to ignore the doorbell but whoever it is was persistent.

It's time to confront him again, he should stop bothering me. Angrily, I moved downstairs, taking my pepper spray along just so he'd be aware.

Once I held the doorknob, I spur the door open and quickly unleashed the devil on his face.

Of course, my pepper spray! Something that always comes in handy.

"Shit!"
