Chapter 135: His Drunk State

Caleb's POV

I grew sober, having to watch her plead for her life, it felt as though we were in my family house, when I accused her and I was wrong too.

I tried to touch her but she had fallen to the ground, sobbing. I took her hands off her ears and embraced her, I must have been her nightmare throughout the months of being away from me.

I cuddled her in my arms, I could feel her tears dripping on my shirt, her slow heartbeat, her hassle breathing and how she sighs.

"I'm sorry" I whispered, burying my head in the crook of her neck, her body vibrates in my hand as she threw her hand around the small of my back.

"I'm sorry" I kept whispering, breathing so hard that I wish I could just take that part away, my lips kisses her as she exhaled softly.

She wasn't saying a word but just closer her eyes and exhaled softly. It took a while for her to regain herself.

When she did, she flinches and quickly refrained from me like I was some kind of plague.

I swallowed hard, not wanting to blame her for her reaction as she had every right to act that way towards me.

A soft sigh escaped my lips as I watch her vanish from my room with the coat wrapped on her.

Then a call came in, distracting me. It was Kiara, certainly wanting to enquire about my status with amaris.

Hastily, I responded, striding towards the balcony to close the door. I was doleful and having no words to say.

"Hey, lover boy" she called, her voice muffles through the phone. She calls me that lately.

"Any progress yet?" She added and I only sigh, rubbing the back of my neck.

"I can't forgive myself Kiara" I confessed, leaning my back on the door and exhaling softly.

It was quite depressing for me already and I was trying to remain calm but it wasn't working.

"What happened?" She questioned and my only response was;

"Let's meet"

"That's sad" she whispers, staring into my eyes. The loud music in the club was deafening but I still managed to single out her voice.

"Yeah, it's quite horrible, she can't forgive me Kiara"

She held my shoulder blade and scoffed.

"Forgiveness isn't easy but earn it Caleb, it's just a matter of time" she encouraged with a bright smile.

I heaved a sigh, I haven't touched my drink yet as my grieving heart wouldn't let me.

"Cheer up Caleb, it's weird to see you in this state" she added, taking her hands off me and grabbing a drink which she handed to me but I refused.

"I just hope I ain't wasting my time though" I finally spoke, throwing my gaze to the counter.

She shook her head, always the motivational speaker and I wondered why she was vouching for me and amaris so much.

I lowered those eyes to my fingers which had turned close and sighed.

"When are you going to tell her?" She suddenly questioned and I shut my eyes.

"She doesn't need to know" I sadly muttered opening my eyes slowly and feeling really depressed and lost.

"There might still be a hope Caleb why don't you try..."

"I don't even deserve to live Kiara, just let me be" I muttered and she scoffed at me, while rolling her eyes.

"Yet you want to stay with her, if that's how it works, then stop bothering about winning her over when she'd lose you again to death" she annoyingly spat and those words hits me hard that I swallowed.

My eyes rolled to her and she was cursing at the bottle in her hand as though it was me she was pouring her frustration on.

"Well, it's love right?"

"It's punishment and wickedness from your part!" She scolded like she'd beat me up in this bar and I wouldn't be able to do anything.

I nodded, not wanting to see her angry face, because she's really mad at me.

"I'd do that if she accepts me" I whispers breaking the awkward silence between us.

Kiara folded her lips and then shook her head like it was some kind of impossible task.

"Be positive Kiara, she definitely would" I stated in a cold tone while she keeps shaking her head.

I returned back to the camp, feeling tired and growling. It was dawn already and I was stuttering.

Fortunately, no one was awake to see their boss like an abandoned wimp, trying to find his way inside.

I couldn't believe Kiara just abandoned at the gate of this lodge. I blew a raspberry rubbing my eyes and yawning.

I shouldn't have drank and now I was seeing stars.

The first person I met was her! Amaris was by the entrance like a judge, her eyes perched on me like a hawk and I gasped.

It must be my illusion, I know, she wasn't really, amaris would be in her room.

I suddenly began to chuckle, staggering to and fro.

"Stupid" I stressed slapping my cheeks to wake up. My eyes figured out she was holding a glass of water and stomping angrily towards me.

"Get a grip of yourself! What if an employee finds you like this!" Her voice came in and I shook my head.
It not her!

I stepped to and fro and then crashed on the ground in a sitting sitting position, clapping my hands for no reason.

"Argh Caleb!" She growl in a low tone, drawing closer to me and covering me with a coat.

My coat.

"No one has to see you, stand up" she cried, trying to pull me but I held her hand and pulled her to me.

She fell on me, and I hiccup, smiling like a fool and spinning my head.

"You look more beautiful this close" I comment but she poured the glass of water on my face.

The cool water made me shuddered as the wind didn't do a good job. It felt as though I was in a freezer, trying to get out.

"Screw that! And get up!"

Amaris's POV

Not again, I had found him from the balcony and hurried down. He seems as though he'd bang his head on anything taller than he was.

Drunk!

He can't appear this way and no one has to see him. I can't believe i'd be babysitting him and my head was spinning with worries and panic in my heart.

I don't even know if the cold water was to keep him awake because he fainted.

I slapped his cheeks mildly for him to wake up but he wasn't. With every strength I had, I tried to pull him up.

He was standing on his feet now, his eyes barely opened. He placed his palms on my head and giggled.

"You look so tall amaris, like a skyscraper, and older and...just annoying as always"

I grimanced at him as though he wasn't annoying enough. I haven't seen him this drunk before.

It got to an extent he was spewing rubbish.

Whosoever did this to him must hate him so much.

His mouth muffles words as I aided him to walk to his suite. My eyes were calculative to see if anyone was watching.

I got to his room and made him fall on the bed, but my body fell with his too and our lips touched.

His hands were on my back as my long hair trapped our faces, I couldn't breath as our nose press against each other.
