Chapter 154: The Neighbor

Mia's POV

Left for Aiden, he wouldn't have let me go as he was still kissing me all over my face. I had to flirtly tell him some other time.

"I'd get it" I muttered as he lifts me down.

Slowly, I paced to the door, contemplating.

At first, I was reluctant to open the door but Aiden walk pass me to respond to the guest.

Probably a curious one who would want to question why we called off the wedding.

When I opened the door, I was greeted by bunches of roses.

Aiden sneezes as I noticed his face was turning red and his body itching him.

"Oh, a fan" Aiden muses rolling his eyes and snatching the bouquet which had almost covered the sender face.

I tried not to believe who was at the door but he was the one! Duriel.

"A bouquet of roses for my next door neighbor" his husky voice interrupted and I widened my eyes with disbelief.

Aiden held the door frame and we both gasped at what we saw.

Our mansion was filled with red roses. It was ridiculous and I sensed Aiden didn't want to come out.

He kept sneezing and scratching his body.

"Ohhhh" Aiden mutters dryly as I could see the intense stare between these men.

He left me speechless as I didn't want any introduction. More adrenaline pumps inside me as I felt like exploding.

"In case you need anything, I will be right there" he declares faking a smile. I knew he was referring to me.

My body moved as Aiden became my wall. Resting my back his chest, I was satisfied he was behind me.

Nervously I took a glimpse at Aiden and there was no smile on his face.

"Does he know?"

"I'm Duriel" he began and I felt so unease.

"Aiden and my wife..."

"Mia" Duriel completed with a darken gaze at me and I tightened my grip on Aiden's shirt.

I saw as he narrows his brows at Duriel, wondering how he knew my name.

Aiden suddenly brushes my hair.

"I'm a huge fan of you both and Ironically, I'm her..."

"Business partner" i quickly added and he grimanced at me.

My eyes were pleading duriel shouldn't say anything to raise Aiden's suspicion.

"Okay?" Aiden responded dryly yet again as he intended to close the door but duriel wasn't giving in.

"I play golf well, if you need a tutor"

"That's great, if we need help, we would run right at you" Aiden wrapped up and that was a relief.

I hastily closed the door and tried inhaled deeply.

I placed my hands on my chest, espires.

"Do you know each other?" He suddenly asked and I sense a tone of anger.

What will I say? I couldn't bare the pressure of having two men in my life leaching on me.

I was glued to that spot as he drew so close, arched his elbow around my head and I was void of thoughts.

His eyes searched mine as though pulling out my soul. Goosebumps held me.

"Who's he?"

"I...I...well..."

He suddenly burst into laughter and pulled off me.

"You've got a crazy business partner, should I knock him dead?" He mocks in a cold tone, but his eyes were reading something, he meant it that question.

This wasn't time for jokes, he really got me.

"If he gives you trouble, just say the word and I..." He paused and ran a finger through his throat indicating a slaughter.

"I thought we're pass that Aiden" I scolded blinking my eyes.

He sneezes the more and I noticed red spot on his skin.

"Are you alright?"

He nodded and placed a thumb up at me.

"What about you" he asked back and I nodded.

"You're sick"

"No I'm not"

"That guy needs help, he's obsessed with roses, filling my yard with it like it's his playground"

I burst into laughter, I was no longer tensed and felt relaxed. He was cute when he complains in a girly voice.

His eyes had suddenly become red and as though rashes were spurring out of his skin.

However, since he said it was fine, I will not bother.

**

The next day seems hectic as I was quite nervous realizing Durrell stays so close by.

To worsen it, he had bought the company I work at and forcing me to do errands until I got injured.

I needed to treat myself but then he forced me to come along with him to his house.

He had sighted my injury and possibly pretending to be the nice one. As he ran closer to me, my world stopped.

The way he grabbed my hand, the worries in his eyes. His touch sent cold running down my spine.

He was concerned, quickly looking for what to wrap the bleeding. I hadn't realized how much blood I lost.

Like a magician, he pulled a hankie, tied my bleeding palm and asked;

"What happen?"

I stared with piteous eyes. He made me hurt myself but how would he understand?

Perhaps, if he was this nice, I would have considered,  if there was a bit trace of care in his eyes, I would have loved him.

Anxiously, I was almost carried away by emotions and I had to move back away from him.

He did the talking and I did the staring because I was more than surprised.

"Stay here, I would get the first aid kit" he orders running out. My eyes stared at the path he took.

I just didn't know how to react to his unexpected act.

Nervously, I stride my legs out, only to meet his sister, part of my nightmare. I had forgotten, she also calls him babe.

Lisa was in the sitting room. It was quite beautiful, having expensive artifacts hung everywhere.

Some few breaking would do when I'm around.

She was trimming some hand picked flowers on the dining table and it seems she came visiting, judging from her outpost wears.

I wanted her to notice me and see her reaction.

Intentionally, I stomp my feet loudly, as though heading to the door but she didn't hear that.

Again, I tried falling an artifact hung beside the sitting room and it came crashing.
