Chapter 170: Her awkward behavior

Amaris's POV

She was acting absurd and that makes me more anxious. However, she's right, I'm here for my son and not to think over what transpired between her and the stranger who brought me here.

It was dawn and Flynn came as promised. Earlier than expected.

The sight of me made me excited as I embraced him firmly immediately got inside the ward.

I terminated the hug and he kissed me mildly on the lips. He held my hand and we walked towards were Aaron sat on the bed.

Aaron was excited too as he had been discharged from the hospital. Mia was dressing him up but he flee from her hold to come embrace Flynn.

"Hey my fighter don't run" Flynn beckons as he lift Aaron up and kissed him on the cheeks.

I smiled softly, my fingers ran through his hair as I kissed him on the crown of his head.

"Hey Flynn, you made it" Mia muttered and he smiled back at her.

"Yeah, thank you for your company dear friend" he replied in a sincere tone.

We left the hospital and arrived home. Aaron was so pleased to be here judging from how he ran around the place.

It was evidence that he missed being around us but I was just so scared of losing him.

"Aaron, stop okay" I muttered but not raising my voice. He shouldn't be running around, according to the doctor.

"I will mom" he announces and Flynn had to grab him and carry him in his hand.

"Hey tiger, don't run too much, you might stress yourself" Flynn corrected and Aaron threw his arms over Flynn and nodded.

"Dad, will I get to live a normal life again?" He asked as Flynn walked him up through the curved stairway.

"Of course hero, why am I here? To rescue you" he responded and I watch as they laughed and crack jokes.

I was left downstairs with Mia who has found her way to the kitchen.

"You should probably rest, I need to eat something first" she announced from the kitchen but I was too baffled to move from where I stood by the stairway.

"Let me join you, I'd get my mind of thinking" I said dragging my legs to the kitchen.

"I understand amaris, it's complicated but I know you'd overcome, more than anything" she encourages bringing out some ingredients from the cupboard.

"I just don't know why had things keeps happening to me Mia, what if we do not find a donor? I can't lose my son" I broke down while staring at the ingredients she had placed on the countertop.

"Hey, what happened to us being positive?" She snapped stroking my back hard and I scoffed.

"It's so difficult having faith when it keeps crashing Mia" I pointed out and folded my arms.

"Do you think Aaron would be happy if he sees you this way? You have to stay strong for his sake, that's the goal right?"

She stopped and then moved to carry a pan and flour. It seems she'd be baking.

"Everything you do is for him, you can't give up now" she scolded beckoning on me to mix the eyes in the crate.

"You're right" I responded moving to where the mixer was kept in the kitchen.

"That's the spirit and don't let anyone break you okay" she furthered letting out a broad smile and I nodded.

She's always here and what would I have done with her. I helped out in mixing the eggs and questioned what she intended to bake.

"A cake of course, you're so distracted not to know the recipes all before you"

I agreed with that because my mind was cast off somewhere. Nevertheless, it's a good thing I have gotten myself.

I was holding the bowl of the stirred egg white while peeping at how she mixed the ingredients.

"I was thinking of trying the new cafe that opened down the street..."

"No!" She roared causing me to shudder. Luckily, I was holding the bowl of stirred eyes firmly or it would have dropped from my hand.

"What was that Mia" I questioned stunned and losing my breath. She freaked me out with that scream.

"It's just...well I don't want you to regret your actions, the coffee there is horrible" she responded suddenly breathing heavily.

"Really? I heard it's nice there and Flynn had tried that place out"

She suddenly stopped what she was doing and then widened her eyes at me.

"Did he really go there?" She questioned, narrowing her gaze at me.

I nodded with uncertainty on why she was acting this weird and stunned at the same time.

"Yes and the coffee you took this morning on our way back was gotten from there, you just didn't read the label" i mused shaking my head at her.

I gestured she should continue her baking procedures but she was too startled to move.

What's going on? She literally praised that coffee this morning. I shouldn't be worked up but then, her reaction was quite suspicious.

I had to place the bowl on the countertop, hold her by the arm and shook her to jerk back to reality.

"Is everything alright? Or is it one your exs that opened the cage?" I whispered and then grinned at her.

Her breath caught in her throat as she sniffed and suddenly took of the apron from her, handing it to me.

"Handle the baking, I'd be right back" she instructed and I let out an upside down smile.

Possibly, I was right and she just want to get back at her ex, or wants to avoid him.

She just don't know how to hide her expression when she's hiding from someone.

If she wants revenge, i'm ready to help and get back at the man who made her this lost.

I took the apron and wore. I'd be taking her place and she had better return to tell me all about it.

Somehow, I felt like following her but then it's her life, I shouldn't prey on it. If she wants to open up, I know Mia would definitely do that.
