Chapter 195: The child
Mia's POV
"Wow! Can I be the little groom!" He exclaimed moving his legs on his father.
"Yeah, if you're not on my naughty list" Caleb responded and they both chuckled. It was obvious he knew Karl so close that I wanted to ask him about everything he knows regarding Karl.
Shawn's wife joined us, she embraced me and Caleb.
"Wow, she's as beautiful as your mother described, how fortunate you are Bryan" Mrs Shawn complimented.
"You're the real diva here for keeping such a beautiful family with your wonderful soul" i replied and she was flustered by that.
"Now that everyone's here, let's celebrate this" Shawn mutters with a bright smile and I nodded.
We moved to the car, we won't be using ours but theirs and I was so enlivened that I'd be sitting so close to Karl at the back.
Shawn and his wife sat at the front while Karl was in between Caleb and I at the back.
He kept admiring his medal which he won and I couldn't control myself but touch his hair, and then smiled.
His head was lowered and at my touch, he raised his eyes and then blinked at me.
"You're adorable" I muttered letting out a sad smile.
"Thank you, I won this for my parents, they're the best" he whispers like it were a secret.
Caleb tickles him and he chuckled.
"I'm so proud of you" I said beneath my breath and held his wrist but he pulled it away as though feeling uncomfortable with me.
"Thank you, you're nice" he said then lean on Mrs Shawn seat and wrapped her arms around her neck.
"But she's nicer" he joked and it made me recall the incident of earlier between Bryan and Mrs Wilson.
It's a mother and son bond and no matter how cold or annoying they could be, they still have their mother at heart.
I was sad again, I just don't want to be someone who destroys someone's happiness.
He has the best parents ever and the best relationship with her but I'm just a stranger.
Caleb squeezed my thigh and I shifted my gaze at him, he shook his head to imply not to let his act get into me.
"So Caleb tell us where you met such a beauty" Mrs Shawn began and then Shawn kissed his teeth.
"He sure have a thing to attract beauties" Shawn replied and Karl sat back while giggling at me.
Please he shouldn't screw this up.
"We met stalking each other" we both responded as though it was a planned answer and they both gasped.
Karl widened his eyes at me and then at Caleb.
"That's supercool, who caught each other?" He asked interested as he adjusted himself closer to Caleb.
He rested his head on Caleb's arm and then fluttered his eyes at me.
"That's insane guys" Shawn said as he laughed.
"She did and I fell for it" Caleb said, so excited that I rolled my eyes espired by his theories.
"And then came love" Mrs Shawn affirms turning to look at us mischievously.
"Com'on stop that" I said shy and covering my face partly.
I didn't want to look at Caleb even though his eyes were on me.
"That's great, now that they are here mom can they please represent you guys at my swimming competition? I don't want miss Lena" Karl suddenly requested and staring at Shawn who took a glance at Bryan and I through the rare mirror.
"Uhmm, Karl dear, they have something important doing, don't just jump into conclusions" Shawn explains and Karl fell back on Caleb.
"I don't see an issue in with that, I have all spare time to be with him" i affirmed and then locked eyes with Caleb.
"It's okay by me, I've always wanted to spend sometime with my godson" he responded and I smiled at him.
"I don't know, we just don't want to inconvenient you" Mrs Shawn mutters as she bite her lower lip.
"It's okay Layla, give me this chance once" Caleb assured and he just have his ways of convincing someone or anyone to chose his side.
"It's fine by me" Shawn agreeds and so his wife.
Karl clapped his hands and then gave a high five to Caleb. I felt left out not until he raised a high five to me too and then smiled the more.
"His swimming competition is in two days, we would have made it but something urgent came up that needs us both" Mrs Shawn began, explaining the reason why they can't be there for him.
"Are you sure you can manage Mia?" Shawn asked again with uncertainty in his tone and I nodded.
Anything I need to do to get to my son, I'd be willing to do it and I do don't really mind.
"Yes, I love kids who can swim, do you know I've always wanted to be a swimmer?" I began to fit in and they both threw their gaze at me.
Even Caleb was stunned to figure up.
"Dad drive!" Karl muttered and then chuckled while falling on the seat.
"Go on pretty miss Mia" he furthers to me and Caleb rubbed his hair while they focused their attention on me.
"Yes, handsome Mr Karl" i responded and everyone blew a raspberry. His eyes, they were mine and I could see myself in them.
"I was a strong swimmer just that the dream crashed because there wasn't enough money to fund me but you got great parents who would go miles to fulfill your dreams"
"Awnn thank you" Mrs Shawn said smiling at me and Caleb rubbed the small of my back.
It was fun in this ride with them and I get to see my son for the first since he was a baby.
He'd probably be 7 I guess.
"You're not too old to continue that dream nor too late to start it up, if you want it, chase after it and make it yours" Karl says and that sounded more like Caleb.
I quickly stared at Caleb who shrugged. That act alone proves he was guilty.
"My son is really learning from the best" Shawn praised and then shakes Caleb again, like a brother code and we the ladies sighed.
