Chapter 167: My thought
Amaris's POV
I shouldn't have replied in that manner to her, she seems hurt and I just hate myself for demeaning her.
She stood up, her eyes held my gaze as she was broken but I kept a keen look at her.
"Mia..."
"I'm just trying to look out for you but it seems you're only after yourself" she mused and stormed out.
I closed my eyes briefly and when I opened it, I realized I was just trapped alone in this house.
My thought got distracted when I heard the one hung window behind me slammed together.
Hastily, I stood up with a heavy heart to close it. It seems it would rain, judging from the dark weather, and the swirling wind.
I held the sash side by side intending to close it but then I felt a warm callous arms holding mine side by side.
My back was pressed to a broad chest and I could feel who it was. My chest grew tight as a wry smile left me.
My breath caught in my throat. His breath poured on my hair, I exhaled softly and closed my eyes again.
Together, we closed the window and then I felt his arms around my waist, I spun around sharply and rested my head on his chest, while my arms went around his back.
"Caleb" i whispered as tears streamed down my eyes.
When I spur those eyes open, he wasn't there. I was hallucinating again. I shuddered when my phone buzz on the couch I left it.
Hastily, I went to respond to the call. It was from Davis.
"Uhmm...amaris...can you rush down"
His voice panics as it seems to get choked. I was growing restless.
"W-what's wrong?" I questioned, rushing to the master bedroom to get a car key.
"It's about Aaron...he collapsed..."
"Hello!" I roared but the call has been terminated and despite my trials and attempts, it wasn't connecting.
I only had t-shirt and shorts while my head was tied with a towel, I only dragged a coat and dashed outside the house.
Quickly, I got to the car, scrambling between keys and trying to open the car but it wasn't working.
I wasn't myself either, my lips part slightly unable to let out a scream. I should have just pressed the control button.
I quickly pressed the button and the doors were unlocked.
Without hesitation, I jumped inside the car and began a ride.
From what I knew, Davis was here with Aaron to give me a surprise but it turns out he suddenly passed out.
I had gotten to the highway, breaking all speed limits just to get to Davis. Although, I used a hand to keep dialing his contact but it was still unreachable.
I couldn't think straight as I grew more scared however, because I wasn't concentrating, I accidentally bumped into someone's car, a BMW 7.
My car made a screech as I quickly stepped on the brake and my head slammed on my steering wheel.
I pant heavily, my head was still bent and a heavy knock on my tinted which jerked me back to reality.
My eyes danced in my sockets as I raised my head slowly to meet the gaze of a raging man outside.
I beckoned on him to move aside while I step out, my eyes felt blurry and I was staggering when i was out.
I intended to move pass him, taking out my business card to hand to him, he'd get it fixed, any damage I've caused.
However, he obstructed my path.
"You ran into my car and you think just a card would fix it? This precious car?" He brawl but in a low tone.
"I'm sorry, I have somewhere to be..." I muttered feeling a spitting headache yet I struggled not to pass out.
"It's worth a fortune, and you need to get arrested for your reckless driving" he brawl and I pushed him back to have my way.
He growl at me, intending to hit me but then someone grabbed his hand and pushed him back.
"It's indescent to lay your hand on a woman..." He paused and threw his gaze at me.
My eyes were still blurry, as though I had gone blind partial because I couldn't see this stranger's face clearly.
However, this voice felt familiar but the only name that rang in my head was my son.
The stranger was talking to the driver and I just didn't know what he did to make the driver leave me.
I intended to move but my legs were paralyzed due to shock.
He shoved his gaze around and I moved back a bit, almost falling but he was swift to catch me by the hand.
I shook my head and exhaled softly. My vision wasn't back yet.
"Are you alright ma'am?" His voice whispers and I bent slightly, trying to gain my breath.
I drew my hand from his mild grip and threw my face to look at him.
"Yes, I need to get to my son" i responded feeling hot and tired.
Sweat had bead my forehead as my hard breath increased, I wasn't myself.
"Let me give you a ride, you don't look stable"
My heart flipped, his voice again. I intended to refuse but he insisted.
"It's okay ma'am, don't be scared, I won't harm you" he said in a low assuring tone while leading me to his car.
A black sedan which was packed opposite me. I had no time and just got in.
"Do you have an address?"
"Yes, the city hospital" i responded while rubbing my eyes, trying so hard for me to gain my vision again.
He handed a table water but I refused and then took a glimpse at him again, he was still blur.
This is so pathetic. I just hope I'm not turning blind.
I could recall last night, after being drunk, I took some sleeping pills afterwards because I couldn't sleep.
Perhaps the effect was telling on me. I returned my gaze and suddenly saw a ring box on the dashboard, a familiar one but it wasn't clear.
