Chapter 179: A wedding?
Mia’s POV
Caleb adjusted his tie again, there was no comment as I was making him more uncomfortable.
The old man who I assumed was his granny sat adjacent me, he was struggling to pour himself a glass of wine.
However, I quickly assisted him and did that. Another flaw.
"How did you guys met?" His father began and I had a queer feeling he might be the one to dislike me.
He looked strict, his eyes scanning through me to find a possible lie or something that would term me a pretender.
"She was stalk..."
"At a business conference!" I yelled widening my eyes at caleb who cleared his throat and grimanced at me.
He has no filter in his mouth and he was stressing me.
All eyes fell on me.
"Wow, that's amazing, who knew business partners could fall in love" the granny commended and burst into a chuckle.
"I just hope he wasn't seduced though" his father and then exchanged a glance at his mother who eyed him.
"I almost fell for her sedu..."
"It was love at first sight!" I screamed again and all eyes rolled at me again.
"I'm sorry, I'm just nervous and excited at the same time" I announced rubbing the back of my neck and Caleb scoffed.
"So Bryan, who fell in love first and why her? Be sincere with me son" he father questioned and Caleb stared at me as though reading everything on my face.
"Debt and curiosity" he muttered his eyes still on me and I was glued to where I sat.
"Debt?" His mother repeated and I burst into a giddy laugh. His father smirked and decided to eat the fruits served before him, a bunch of grape.
"Curiosity?" His father muffled with a mouthful of grapes. He took a glimpse at me and Caleb then chuckled briefly.
"He feels he is indebted to me because of what happened when we first met... it's his way of confessing his love" I added and Caleb shrugged his shoulders.
"And the curiosity part?"
"She's just..." Caleb paused as all eyes were shifted to him now. Why is he bent on exposing me.
Even if he wants them to dislike me, he shouldn't go into details. I should be the one tarnishing my image not him since he has the one who brought me.
"She bets my imagination dad, shouldn't I feed my curiousity over a woman I am suddenly attracted to?"
I just don't know what he felt but my cheeks flushes red. This shouldn't be happening.
His father let out an upside smile and then began to feast on the steak he served himself.
"Grandpa, do you mind if I sit right next to her? I'm sorry for the stress" he requested politely and in a swift, they switched.
I couldn't breath with him close, his eyes weren't leaving me and his mother kept teasing me.
"So what do you do my dear?" His mother questioned, her smile more broad. Caleb and I locked eyes as though we knew she'd ask.
"A manager" I responded and she widened her eyes at me, stunned.
"Anyone can be a manager" his father tamed. I regretted saying I was a fan. He keeps countering my words.
The problem isn't his mother but this old man who is on my neck. My smile didn't fade away as he was making me come up with more lies.
I doubt if they were even his real parents, they weren't. Amaris had told him about his parents, I have dug up on them, they even showed up in his funeral.
Good gracious to think of it that he was dead and now I'm sitting with him is even more creepier.
I almost said a word when Caleb suddenly held my hand and locked his fingers with mine.
A tingle flushes down my skin as I couldn't breath but stare at him. When did we become this close?
I have hated him ever since what happened between him and amaris. It's his memory loss, that's what I can come up with.
"She once worked for the blackwood company but I bought her" he whispered as though that was the most iconic thing he has said and done.
His mother's jaw dropped, his grandfather dried up and his father let out a devious smile, took a wine glass and tossed to his son.
"Exactly son, make them yours at all cost if they're the that makes your heartbeat" he said and his wife covered her mouth.
Caleb smirked, took a glass of wine and tossed to his father.
"I guess this is your approval then" Caleb said and then took a glimpse at me.
"I approve too" his grandfather added and his mother nodded while blushing at her husband.
I was still shocked, baffled and losing my composure where I sat because these men just made me feel like I was trapped.
"We have a wedding to prepare for" his father announced and the two clapped while Caleb and I kept staring at each other.
Plan gone awry.
He was still holding my hand and I drew it away, smiling and cussing in my heart.
Soon the topic changes to the matters of the country, businesses and irrelevant chats and I had to engage myself in their talks.

"This can't be happening...we are getting married" I panicked immediately I got inside the suite we were residing.
"Your first impression made them approve"
"Now you're blaming me?" I roared throwing my bag on the couch and throwing my hands in the air.
There was silence as he moved towards the bow window to glance outside as though there was something he needed.
"It's just a wedding, why are you overreacting?" He calmly whispers and I scoffed unbelievably at him.
"Do you know what it means to get married? It's a life time commitment, and I have a fiance" I protested, moved towards where I threw my bag to take out my ring.
Why didn't I think of this before?
I pointed it at his face while breathing hard like I was in a battle.
"Break up with him, I'd be offering more"
