Chapter 147: .The surprise and the attack
Amaris's POV
She folded her lips and I smiled at Flynn. He noticed I was uncomfortable with her words.
They were trying to cheer me up even though I didn't have the strength to talk yet and just laughed when necessary.
They were with me, like a true family. Some colleagues came by to check on me and it was pleasing to feel and know I wasn't alone.
I got discharged after some days and returned home. It seems mia became a nanny overnight helping me and catering for my son.
Flynn checks on me and the company. My noisy baby always keeps quiet when around him and I always craved for his presence.
Life wasn't quite rosy but life goes on. Just like the passing of time, it came and now it's 5 years, here I am, waving at my kid who I'd be parting ways with as always.
I had dropped him at the school gate and his classroom teacher had come to escort him inside.
We greeted each other and was he was out of sight, I drove to the office. I was now the CEO of Caleb's companies, and throughout the years, I had tried my best to bring it to limelight.
Arriving at the company, I got the respect I deserved and dashed to the office to attend to urgent matters.
It has become a routine for me and I barely give my time the rest I deserve.
After the morning meeting, I was all alone in the office to go through some proposals when Mia call came in.
I intended to ignore it because it wouldn't be more than wanting to take me out. My response was 'i'm busy'
However, she doesn't even coming over to the office to drag me along. I growl and responded to her call.
"Hello" i responded in a dry tone and she exhaled softly.
"Finally girl, you picked the call" she mused and I could hear her walking.
"I'm busy..."
"As always, come on, it's Flynn's birthday, don't tell me you forgot about it"
I widened my eyes and quickly drew out my calendar to check the date.
Shoot! I forgot but he never forgets mine nor my son's. I'm such a bad friend.
"Is he celebrating it?" I asked now bitting my fingers and squeezing my lips.
"I doubt he even knows, I'm currently spying on him and he is just stucked in his office" she announces and I scoffed.
She still wouldn't give up on Flynn even though he doesn't give her the attention she craves for.
To be sincere, I was really busy and could just spare today for him.
"So what's your plan?" I asked intrigued to know. Today, I'd grant him any wish.
I breath hard staring at Mia who made me do this. I just lied I was captured by some kidnappers and I had nowhere to go.
I could hear how tensed Flynn was, abandoning whatever he was doing just to get to me.
It was pertrifying to keep him all worried and worked up but then, it was a surprise right?
Mia was quite good at acting as she terminated the call and had hired someone to be the kidnapper.
We were actually in his house and so it just seem as though I came over to visit and possibly one of his foes saw me and captured me.
Nevertheless, he'd certainly come for me and that was something I creeped out about.
It was quite dark, Mia and I with some well, should I say not really friends were here to cheer him up.
My heart thuds when I heard the door beeps open. Mia had made me stand close to the door with the cake.
"Amaris!" He roared panting heavily with so much emotions in his voice that I lost my breath for a moment.
He was trying to find the light switch when someone switched on the light and sparks were popped up in the air.
"Happy birthday!!!"
I stood frozen staring at me as everyone faded away, his eyes were red, he was trying to regain strength.
Mia took the cake from me, her face reddened as she intended to walk closer to him but he stomped forward to where I stood still and cuddled me.
I sensed his fear, he hadn't gotten over it. We shouldn't have pulled up such prank. His breath was heavy as he buried his face at the crook of my neck.
There was no words to say but just bury my heart of his chest, my nipples harden as I let out a sided smile.
"Don't ever try that again, I thought I lost you"
"I'm sorry" I whispered and Mia cleared her throat.
"It seems we might end the birthday with emotions hugs"
I rolled my eyes as Flynn threw a glare at her. I understood what that meant, he was pissed off with her for bringing up such suggestions.
I tightened my grip around him, wanting to kiss him and make it known that I was fine and he just doesn't need to worry over me.
He wouldn't let go and I found myself blushing naughtily while a sigh left my lips.
I could hear whispers behind us and it dawn on me I wasn't alone.
"Flynn...let go now" i whispered shyly and I felt his lips on my neck.
"I don't want to" he said as though I have been waiting to hear that from him.
I scoffed, shaking my head unbelievably as he swallowed hard and exhaled softly.
"People are watching" i said in between my teeth and then he scoffed while terminating the embrace.
I shyly licked my lower lips while throwing my gaze to the few crowd behind us.
They seem to pretend not to look or just assumed it was a family thing to get affectionate.
I rubbed the bridge of my nose joining them to cheer him up. We tossed with him and there were wishes.
"Uncle Flynn!" Aaron called running to embrace him. He was asleep few moments ago but it seems his genie woke him up.
