Chapter 219: The Discussion

Amaris POV

"Stay away from me Caleb!" I roared not even looking at the person who suffers from my act.

"It's me....argh! Mia!" The voice came in and the pepper spray fell off my hand. It's a she!

I almost forgot, Mia comes around to check me up almost all the time or should I say she resides with me.

I only gasped apologizing and she growl stretching her hand to grab something because she couldn't see and her face had gone red.

Hastily, I directed her inside, still apologizing.

"You're fucking obsessed with that Caleb that you want to kill me" she spat crying and I gawk at her annoyed by her statement.

"It's just that he is everywhere" I defended and she scoffed unbelievably and then growl again.

"Oh God, don't tell me everyone is now Caleb? You're insane" she added crying the more and I held myself from laughing at how funny she was acting.

I directly her to the bathroom but she was screaming.

"I think I am blind, how would I fuck my man?"

I rolled my eyes with disdain. That's her worries, seriously? I tried washing off her face but she keeps screaming that every touch feels like I'm peeling off her skin.

She was overreacting and I had no choice than to yield to her demand.

It took a while for her to open that eyes and the first statement was;

"She almost killed me because of some Caleb guy"

"I swear it, he was right there, just across me...he stays opposite my apartment" i defended and she thinks i'm psycho.

A sad sigh left her as she sat on my couch and threw her head back.

"Maybe you should see a therapist"

"Mia!" I snapped.

"What, sorry it's just that you keep talking about him more than the Flynn who actually cares" she said to me with a frown and just laid on the couch.

A sad sigh left me as she was right, maybe I was insane thinking about Caleb, not because he was my suppose CEO doesn't mean he is following me everywhere.

"I never intended to spend the night here but you're making me do that" she added kicking her legs on the couch and sobbing.

"Whatever" I said, hoping she doesn't ask me how the meeting went because I have no words to say or she might just think that I was hallucinating again that

Caleb was my CEO.

I moved to the kitchen to prepare a late night snack for her and she only requested coffee while rolling on the couch like a child who have missed a lot with just a night of crashing at my place.

Yet she calls herself an officer of the law. Somehow it must be a mistake that she got a job over there.

I returned with the mug and realized she had gotten up and was staring plainly at the wall facing her.

"How did your meeting go with Caleb?" Her lips spew and I shuddered. Fortunately, the coffee didn't spill on me.

I quickly gave it to her feeling nervous on how she knew about that.

"I was curious though, so I looked up to your new boss" she said as though reading my thoughts.

"Did you refuse it?" She came again not giving me a chance to sit and reminisce over the fact that she knew before I could spill it out.

I hesitated before responding. She was the only one I could talk to and that was just something pleasing.

"Yeah, he literally blackmailed me" I defended and she heaved a sigh, gulping the coffee and she poured it back.

"It's so bitter!" She laments and I shrugged my shoulders. Coffees are meant to be bitter so I wasn't wrong in providing it as such.

"Stop ranting Mia, I never forced you to drink it" i mused and she kept a sober tone as though she'd cry.

First, I almost made her blind, now I was torturing her with coffee.

"Do you hate me that much?" She said in a pathetic tone and threw my hands in the air.

Not again with her emotional blackmail just for me to apologize.

"So are you going to resume work with him or just resign as always?"

"I'd resign of course..."

I haven't completed my speech when she scoffed, while rolling the mug of coffee with her both hands.

Her eyes were dull, like she was lost in thoughts and then a sided smile escaped her lips.

"How long would you keep running?"

I went speechless from that question.

"He'd always find you" she added and then threw a daze gaze at me.

I swallowed hard, coiling myself on the couch I sat in as her words hits hard.

"What do you want me to do?"

She fluttered her eyes, intended to drink the coffee again but squeezed her face when she recalls that it was bitter but then still drank it.

"Just face it, like this damn coffee" she said and poured it back inside while coughing.

I scoffed at her as she couldn't even keep to the words she said.

Somehow, she was right, I should face it but just what if? My eyes wandered to the window as I clenched my fists, feeling so anxious and weary.

Can I really face him? He just acted like he didn't know me. Why was I hurt though?

If he keeps up with this act, I think i'd forget about him soon and we'd avoid each other.

Somehow, this feels like the first time when I had to work with him and it was something I just didn't want to recall.

"Don't let him get into you, you're brave amaris, I believe you and you'd stand for what's right as always"

I nodded not even reading meaning to what she's saying but I understood I thing, I shouldn't run from problems, I should face it.

However, some problems could kill if I confront them but nevertheless, there was no harm in trying.

"So what do you think?" I asked interested in her point.

"Sleep!" She concluded, dropping the coffee and laid on the couch.

I folded my lips, took a pillow and threw at her face while she chuckled.

I chuckled back as she threw the pillow back at me. Her presence made me laugh out loud.

One thing I know is I won't run, I'd face him.
