Chapter 176: The contract

Mia's POV

I was frozen and sat back, staring at him in surprise.

"You know my name"

"We've met four times and you expect me not to dig up on you?"

Four times! How comes I can't recall.

"That won't make agree to this"

"Hmm" he muttered and then crossed his legs on the sleek table.

"You're spending the rest of your life in jail and no one would bring you out and currently, you're owning me a 100 million dollars"

"What!" I screamed jumping up from my seat and widening my mouth as everything sounded like a joke.

"That's a lie, how? Where's the evidence, I didn't steal anything!" I protested breathing so hard because his levy on me was much.

"I don't need evidence Mia, power speaks" he asserts in a calm tone like he had the world on his shoulders.

Certainly, this is Caleb. Why does he want me as a girlfriend? I can't not when he is in the same city as amaris, they are destined to meet someday.

He was so confident that I didn't even know the reply to give to him. I was still lost in a puzzle.

"You have a debt which is currently eating you up and your creditors are searching for you"

I was speechless. How much more does he know about me. Why me? I suddenly saw him taking out a tab which he had dropped on the table beside him.

His hands were clicking on it.

"I just sent them your location and they'd be on their way..."

"Just three days right?" I cut in frightened yet glared at him.

"Just three days" he repeated and then folded his arms while staring at me.

"I'd come over to pick you in the morning"

I widened my eyes again. He knows where I leave too. Was he stalking me?

"No, I'd come over to your place, I don't want to inconvenient the people I stay with and this should be between us!" I mused frowning at him.

"That leaves us to signing a contract, your debt would be paid too..."

As he speaks, his words blurred out the more I tried to listen. How did I get myself entangled in this?

I shouldn't have broken into his house.

***

I didn't even know how I found myself back at this place, staring at the house and fretful like a ghost was following me.

I couldn't even get in. I should run. Maybe that way, Caleb won't track me. I can't believe he sent someone to watch over me because he finds me suspicious.

I guess we both hired spies. It can't get any worse than this can it?

I heard a knock at the glassy wall beside the door and I took a peek. It was amaris, waving at me.

I couldn't hear what she was saying because it was sound proof but from the movement of her mouth, it was obvious she was questioning me what was happening to me.

I got inside the house, rubbing my shoulders and exhaling deeply.

"What's wrong you've stood outside for long" she questioned immediately she got to me.

"I just had a bad day"

"Is it the cafe again?"

"No, it's not about the cafe and stop assuming the boss is my ex okay, it's just that the cafe is too good to be the best" I said dryly just so she'd take off her mind.

She scoffed and punched me on the shoulder.

"More like the detective you are" she praises and I nodded running to jump on the couch in front of me.

Why do my life revolve around amaris?

"Lately I could feel someone following me" amaris muttered handing me a bottle water as she sat on the couch next to me.

I jolt up from the place I laid and widened my eyes at her.

"Really?" I muttered curious and narrowing my gaze at her. Caleb is up to something.

"Yes and it was all creepy, I told Flynn about it and he track down the stalker" she furthered and I quickly drank the water, intrigued to learn more.

If Flynn is able to track this stalker then he must know that Caleb is alive.

"Guess what?" She added adjusting herself on the couch and then lean her face closely.

The way she acted made it look as if she was telling a top secret that no one is meant to know.

"What?" I responded staring at her with probing eyes.

"The stalker was just some random guy who has a crush on you" she whispered and then burst into laughter. I closed the table water and threw it at her face to make her stop.

"Seriously Mia, why do you end up with crazy guys"

"Stop amaris, I don't, I'm just so unfortunate" I affirmed looking worn out and pertrified than ever.

"You're not, you're a star that's why people can't help but notice you" she cheered and I heaved a sigh falling back on the couch.

The rest three days would be so hectic for me and I am already regretting my choice.

"Amaris, how do you avoid a creditor? Like someone you don't want to exist in your life" I muttered in a serious tone.

She looked anxious, rubbing her thighs and bursting into a giddy laugh.

"Don't tell me you're up to something again?" She mused shifting her gaze from me.

"Tell me please amaris" i pressured stomping my feet on the marble floor and shaking my body like I was dancing.

She chuckled at me and then kissed her teeth.

"You'd know better, you've worked in the field" I brawl hoping she gives me something to work on.

"Just ghost them or act as though you don't exist" she casually said and yawn. It seems as though she was waiting for me to return.

What would I have done without her? She's such a darling who cares and the best thing to do is vanish from her life.

However, I can't not when I'm yet to discover the filthy side of Flynn and the dark side of Caleb as Bryan, whatever his new name is.
