Chapter 168: Intending to Run

Amaris's POV

I intended to touch it but then his voice says;

"We're here, the city hospital" he muttered and I shoved my gaze to the window.

Hastily, I jumped out of the car, intending to run inside the hospital.

"Are you sure you can go on your own?" He asked but I didn't reply and just appreciated him for the ride.

I guess he smiled or not, but I was definitely here for my son. I fluttered my eyes, rubbing them again and glancing at the sky.

My vision was coming back and when I intended to take a glimpse at him, he had rode away.

Quickly I dashed inside the hospital, having no idea of the ward Aaron was and making request from the receptionist was the only help I got.

She lead me to his ward and I rushed inside only to find my son unconscious and fixed with oxygen.

Davis and his wife were sitting beside him, panicking and I gasped dragging my feet closer to them.

"Amaris" Davis called in low tone but I ignored them to embrace my son, sobbing with a heavy heart.

"W-what happened?" I questioned, weak and kissing his forehead.

I shifted my gaze to the both of them and his wife intended to reply but Davis held her hand and shook his head.

"Let's talk about it outside, not here" David suggested and I closed my eyes several times.

"Tell me now!" I ordered glaring into his eyes as tears stream down my eyes.

"He suffers from a heart disease" he confessed and I closed my mouth, suppressing a silent scream.

"The doctor says it's critical and he'd be needing a heart transplant..."

His words blurred out the more I tried to listen and I couldn't believe my ears. This wasn't true, my son can't.

I didn't move and had to refrain from the embrace while straightening myself.

"I'm sorry about that amaris" his wife consoled as she moved to me to embrace, her eyes searches mine as she exhaled softly.

I tried to stay strong but rather I grew more weak, and was just still. I needed to talk to the doctor personally but then, Aaron has to wake up first.

It took a while for him to open his eyes and when he did, I embraced him gently, kissing him on the forehead and trying my best not to rain tears on him.

"Mom" he whispered in a shaky tone and I let out a broad smile.

"Hey, it's okay" I whispered not wanting him to speak and but just bask in my warmth.

I called on the doctor to check him up and after checking up on him, I was told he could leave the hospital the next day.

I was able to put him to sleep again and stepped out of the ward. I met Davis and his wife outside, pacing to and fro.

When Davis sighted me, he rushed closer with his phone.

"Flynn has been trying to reach you" he announced and I pulled my brows at him.

"But I have my phone..." I paused searching all over my body for it but it wasn't there.

Damn it! I forgot it in the stranger's car, furthermore, my car, I abandoned it at the wayside without a second thought about what it's fate could be.

I scratched my head with a grunt as it didn't snap my mind that I wasn't with my phone.

I took the phone and called him back to hear his voice.

"Hey princess" his voice muffled softly and I heaved a sigh.

"Hey you" i responded as tears had brewed up in my eyes and then moved away from Davis and his wife.

"I'm so sorry that I can't be there, I heard about Aaron" he added in a sober tone.

"Yeah" i said in between my teeth and swallowing hard. My response wasn't the right one to give but then, I was void of thoughts.

"Where are you?"

"On a trip, I'm sorry I didn't inform you either, it was impromptu" he explains and I took in a long breath.

"Stop apologizing, it's not your fault, it just happened" I said even though I was bittered at heart that he couldn't even be over here for Aaron.

"It is and you're definitely offended, i'd make up for that..." He paused and I folded my lips, not really shocked that he could read through me.

"I promise by tomorrow, I'd be right there to pick you and Aaron" he addressed his voice deep and lower.

"It's a promise Flynn" I pointed out and I heard him slam his hand on something.

"Yes princess and if I don't, you're free to arrest me wherever I am" he added and I scoffed.

"About his health, Davis isn't telling me anything"

"We'd talk about that later..."

I got distracted when I saw Mia running towards me. She seems in a haste, her face etched with worries and concern.

When she was two inches close, she paused, breathing hard and waiting for me to finish my call.

I felt more emotional to see her here. How does she know?

"Hey princess you're not saying anything"

"Did you call Mia?" I questioned, my eyes dragged her from head to toe.

"I wasn't meant to right?" He asked with regret in his tone and I didn't give a response.

"I'm sorry I screwed up again, I just didn't want you feeling lonely, that's because Davis and his wife might actually have to return to their hometown just so they won't be stressed than now..."

"You're the best" i cut in as my cheeks flushes while I struggled not to let the tears out even though that's a difficult thing to do right now.

"Alright princess, I wish I could stay on the call forever but I have to go, please stay strong for me" he asserts in a more lighter tone and I nodded obediently.

"I love you" i whispered and kissed the phone.

"I love you" he repeated and I heard his kiss over the phone.

I terminated the call and before I could look at Mia's way, she had spread her arms and embraced me.
