Chapter 199: Spilling the Truth
Amaris’s POV
I guess I knew she'd be here, with him, filing him up with more lies. However, Caleb and I are meant to be, that's why even fate wants us to meet.
I had requested for a divorce from Flynn that's because I figured out lately he was a womanizer and had sex with so many of his colleagues.
Someone tipped but I couldn't tell who it was. I'm not going to let my son get used with such a man who wouldn't consider me as his.
"I don't have all day, if you have nothing to say you might as well leave..."
"Caleb" I called in a serene voice. He wasn't even looking at me, he was finding me despicable which hurts.
"Bryan" he corrected and I bite my lower lips, it hurt so much to see that he doesn't recognize me.
What if he mistook mia as me and me as her?
I let out a wry smile and then fluttered my eyes.
I lowered my eyes at the glass of fruit juice, tears had brew beneath them.
"It's been a while...did you know the grief and pain I went through waiting that someday, you'd return just as you promised but you never came?"
He was quiet and drank the fruit juice rather before handing it to me.
"I know you don't recall your memory but it's me amaris, the one who you'd die for and burn the world for" I cried and then he heaved a sigh.
"Look, I'm sorry I'm not the Caleb you want because things changed but then, we now have a different life and let's give fate the chance to decide, if you're telling me this to get back with you, then you lie"
"Is it because of mia"
I rolled his eyes and then exhaled while crossing his legs.
"I want to let the past be the past and start all over again...I'd confess, when I first set my eyes on you, I felt a connection, like we were something but then I realized you were married, with a kid and that's when I found mia"
I scoffed at how he called her name with so much love in his eyes. I can't believe my best friend would betray me and fuck the two men that matters most in my life.
How pathetic.
"Mia, of course" I responded reeled with jealousy and threw my hands up in the air.
"That child is yours" I confessed with annoyances and he suddenly turned pale.
"What?" He muttered narrowing his gaze at me.
"Yes, Caleb, mind if I keep using that name because you'd always be Caleb to me"
"The child...is mine?" He repeated swallowing hard and then inhaled while covering his mouth.
"I was pregnant before you left for your surgery and after that promise you made, the next news I heard of was your death" I pressed on and then he shook his head.
"I have a child" he repeated beneath his breath and then locked eyes with me.
"Yes, and he deserves to know who his father is, isn't it right?" I pressed as tears began to stream from my eyes.
"Look I know you hate me because of the way I treat mia but she's my friend and I know everything about her..."
"No you don't because if you're truly a friend, you won't be rubbing off her past on her face and while you were busy basking in the lies of your husband Flynn, she was busy gathering evidence against him to break you out from such relationship" he confessed and I was startled by that revelation.
It only means mia was the one who left that tip.
"If that's truly my son, then I'm taking him from you but that doesn't guarantee we'd be back together because to be sincere, I just want mia, no one else"
"What about the relationship we shared?"
"You got married amaris, to move on, if you really wanted to wait, you would have but you got married, I guess you might have ended things with Flynn but that won't make me have feelings you" he brawled, his eyes were red as he was staring at me with anger.
"Caleb we are meant to be..."
"Amaris, no, not every love story ends well, I'm moving on, so forget about me"
"So you think it's easy?"
"Yes because you easily got married though, stop being selfish amaris, I want to find my happiness too. Look..."
He paused and took my hands.
"Nothing would change my feelings for mia, and even if my memories do come back... I'm sorry amaris but this is me saying, It's over between us"
His words hits hard that I couldn't breath, I could see was just myself sinking in a vast ocean, my eyes stared at him with so many emotions burst inside me.
"You think it's easy, then what you expect me to be single for the rest of my life? To grief after you with my best friend! Caleb!"
He took his hand away from mine as I felt like suffocating.
"I don't care how you feel but I want to chase after my happiness. I sincerely apologize if I have hurt you in the past before and I'd try to make it up but please don't involve mia, she has nothing to do with this, I pressured her into becoming mine" he said in a low tone as though watching himself not to start yelling at me even though right now, his heart breaking words taunt me.
"This can't be the end of us Caleb, you can't just throw our moments away like that, if you have never seen her, then you would have fought for me right?" I said with much desperation in my eyes as I couldn't control my tears.
He shook his head and then wipe my tears with his palms.
"I wouldn't have, i would have left the country just so we'd never meet again or it would have been someone else"
