Chapter 196: My Son, My Pride
Mia’s POV
We arrived at their house and karl was excited to hop out of the car. He ran to hold his mother's hand while showing her the medal multiple times like she haven't seen it.
"I won it because of you mom" he announces hopping and swinging her hand with his.
"Oh I'm in love" Mrs Shawn responded and he giggled. Shawn joined them at the front while Caleb and I were behind, staring at them.
"Okay son, first to get inside!" Shawn yelled and karl let go of Mrs Shawn to chase after his father.
I smiled emotional, watching how excited he was with them that I got jealous.
"Slow down guys!" Mrs Shawn screamed at them both and they chorused.
"Yes mom"
Immediately, they both vanished inside the mansion and Mrs Shawn blushed. Her eyes rolled at us and I grimanced.
"I'm sorry about that, it's their daily routine" she address, I paced closer to her while placing my hand on her shoulder.
"That's what makes it fun" I assert and she rubbed my palm.
"When you have yours, you'd definitely be taking care of two kids" she whispers and winked at me.
I turned pale not wanting to look at Caleb because we won't be ending up together.
We walked inside the mansion and Caleb followed us from behind.
We sat on the couch and she had moved to the kitchen.
Now I could speak to Caleb but then he has moved to the fridge to get himself a fruit juice and two glasses.
He returned to join me in the sitting room. I see he is really close with them.
"Bryan" I whispered as soon as I caught sight of him and he sat beside me.
"Yes?" He responded pouring a glass of juice for me and I took it.
"You're anxious right?" He furthers staring into my eyes and I nodded.
"Properly not today" I muttered in between my teeth because I do not want a heartbreaking moment for this family.
I licked my lower lips as he heaved a sigh and then glanced at me.
"Whenever you're ready, just know I got you" he announced and then stroke my back gently.
I could hear Karl's giggles as he ran downstairs to join Caleb and I.
"Hey godson, you smell nice now" Caleb commented and Karl jumped on him with an ipad, I had to take the glass from Caleb's hand just so it would slip off his hand.
Karl was cheerful and playful. Caleb tickles him and he tickled him back. I just didn't exist here maybe because he doesn't know me.
I couldn't see shawn anywhere though but later on, I spotted him in the kitchen with his wife.
She wouldn't even rest. I recall Shawn joking that she was married to the kitchen.
My eyes were fixed on Caleb and Karl, they were chatting and watching pictures on his iPad.
Caleb beckoned on me to join them but I'd just prefer to maintain my distance because I can't control my emotions with them.
In a few minutes, Mrs Shawn ushered us to the garden where a feast, I'd say would be served, judging from what her maids helped her outside with.
Caleb carried Karl in his arm and he held me by the wrist with his free hand. Now I was close to Karl.
"Mia, do you play games?" Karl questioned finally gaining my attention.
"Uhmm, yes, my favourites are diano hunt, racing, demon slaying mostly the zombies"
Karl was quiet as he fluttered his eyes and for a moment he was just scrutinizing me shocked.
I felt I had screwed up and even had to look at Caleb in the eyes, puzzled.
"Wow! You're so cool!" Karl yelled as he flail his hands in the air.
I smiled back feeling some sense of pride.
"I love those games too, and you're gonna teach me how to play them" he furthers and then tilted his head at Caleb.
"Please can she?" He requested and Caleb cleared his throat.
"As long as you don't stress her or I'd put you in detention"
He grinned at Caleb who started walking and directing us to the garden.
"What else are your hobby mia, I don't mean to pry but I'm just curious" he furthers as soon as we got close to the garden.
"Well not much, but I love investigating, I always try to feed my curiosity"
"Amazing, I intend to be a detective someday..."
I was flustered as he had similar hobbies as me and all I can do was agree on his part.
Shawn and his wife were waiting for us and Caleb gently dropped Karl on the ground.
I intended to hold him but he ran hastily to meet Shawn and sat between his parents.
Caleb and I sat opposite them while we stared at the meal before. This was too much.
"Wow, another suicide mission" Caleb commented taking his cutleries.
Shawn smirked at him and I had to explain about earlier. Mrs Shawn burst into laughter.
Karl was trying to open his table water and I assisted him while keeping an eye on his parents.
"I must say, I am honored to be served by these beautiful women, Shawn you're missing a lot" Caleb teased and I blushed.
"I accept my fate but next time, I'd be showing you a video of my mom and wife's cooking competition" Shawn grinned and karl grimanced.
"Dad and I would have ours, right?" Karl interrupted swinging his legs and I raised a thumb up at him.
He suddenly jumped down from his seat, taking an apple and then began to walk away.
"What's wrong?" I asked worried as he didn't even eat much but was already leaving.
"Friends" Mrs Shawn replied as she waved at him but he threw a kiss at her.
I nodded even though I was jittery that he'd be leaving halfway when I just wanted him around.
"Hey Karl, just an hour okay"
"Dad you know I don't listen, I promise to be back early" he replied and I ducked my head at him.
"Well is he going alone?" I asked swallowing hard and there was silence.
