Chapter 206: The negotiation and a fight

Caleb's POV

Durrell's laughter was a low, menacing rumble as she nodded, stood erect and licked his lower lip.

"You think you can just walk in here and dictate terms? You're in no position to make demands, amico." His gaze lingered on my tailored suit, his expression a mixture of amusement and curiosity.

The warehouse's cavernous space seemed to shrink, the shadows cast by the flickering overhead lights twisting into menacing shapes.

My eyes never left his face, my resolve unwavering. "I'm offering you a deal. Take it, and we'll part ways. Refuse, and I'll make sure you regret ever crossing me."

I declared as my soft gaze had turned into a glare. Durrell's expression turned calculating, his eyes glinting like ice in the dim light.

He steepled his fingers, his voice dripping with malice. "And what makes you think I won't take everything, including her? You're not exactly in a position to negotiate."

My jaw clenched, my eyes burning with determination. "Because I'm willing to do whatever it takes to protect her. I'll give you the world if you just let her go."

His gaze seemed to bore into my soul, searching for a weakness.

Then, in a movement that sent a shiver down my spine, Durrell leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I'll tell you what, Bryan. I'll consider your proposal. But I want something more.
Something that will guarantee your cooperation."

My heart sank as his eyes gleamed with a sinister light, I felt I knew whatever Durrell want would come at a steep price.

His words dripped with menace as he continued;  "I'll need a token of your commitment. Something that will ensure you keep your end of the bargain."

The air seemed to thicken, heavy with foreboding, as I realized the true extent of his demands.

I steeled myself, prepared to face the consequences of my decision, as the Durrell's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with anticipation.

"I want you dead, you see Bryan, I only gave Mia this much time to enjoy her moment for a while but now, it's time for her to come to me"

I smirked at him, adjusted my collar and then stood up while holding his gaze.

"I also want you dead" I responded and he narrowed his eyes at me.

"Finish him" he ordered and I snapped my fingers, almost immediately, my men began to troop in to start a fight.

The dimly lit alleyway erupted into chaos as i launched myself at the mafia thugs. Fists flew, the sound of crunching bone and grunts filling the air.

I dodged a meaty fist, countering with a swift jab that sent one of the goons stumbling back.

The others closed in, their eyes cold and calculating, but I was a whirlwind of movement, my fists and feet a blur as i fought to take them down with my men.

Durrell watched from the shadows, his face a mask of indifference, but his eyes gleaming with interest.

He puffed on his cigar, the smoke curling around him like a halo. "Take him down," he drawled, his voice dripping with malice. "I want him to know what it means to cross me."

I intended to reach to him but more men keeps appearing and I landed a series of swift kicks, sending one of the things crashing into a dumpster.

I spun around, my eyes locked onto Durrell, my determination to protect mia burn brighter with every passing moment.

Durrell's men regrouped, their faces twisted with anger, and launched themselves at him once more.

The fight raged on, the alleyway echoing with the sounds of violence and desperation.

My movements grew more fluid, his body adapting to the rhythm of the fight. I landed a series of precise blows, taking down the thugs one by one.

But the Durrell's men seemed endless, and I knew he couldn't keep this up for much longer.

They were overshadowing my men. Just when it seemed the tide was turning in his favor, a blow caught him off guard, sending him crashing to the ground.

Durrell's laughter echoed through the alleyway, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You think you can take on the mafia? You're just a foolish mortal."

I could see him now, he was taking a fight with me.

My vision blurred, but he refused to give up. With a Herculean effort, he heaved himself to his feet, his eyes locked with Durrell. The fight was far from over.

We were exchanging blows and kicks and I tried my best to knock him down.

I avoided punches from him and we fought, moving away from the chaotic scene and now I was at the balcony with him.

I had beaten him up to a plump furiously and intended to throw him off the balcony but then I felt a cut around my stomach which hurts.

I growled, turning around only to find one of his men who had stabbed me on the back with a knife and had cut me by the stomach.

My suit was socked in my blood.

My grip on Durrell's collar softens as I coughed out blood. He used his leg to kick me away from him and almost immediately got a gun from another of his goons to fire me.

My body clang on the balcony rail as I shivered trying to gain my breath while his gun faced my face.

I only chuckled while gaggling for air.

"Durrell!" I heard someone called and shoving my face around...i could mia.

How? Miss stalker. She was holding a gun pointed at Durrell, her eyes settled on me as we were both stunned to see her.

Durrell shoved his gaze at her as he grinned. I placed my hand around my stomach which gush out blood as I exhaled softly.

"What a surprise" he muttered and shot me on the leg. I groan and fell.

"Yeah" she responded and before my eyes she shot multiple bullets on him. His body viberates as the gun in his hand dropped.

In seconds he dropped dead and my jaw dropped at her.
