Chapter 138: The long hike 2
Amaris's POV
She stood up with teary right and she was about to speak when I said;
"Dira, the boss is exhausted too, don't be selfish"
I fumed knowing her response. Caleb didn't say anything and a sided smile left his lips.
Our eyes locked in a heated and intense gaze, he shouldn't carry any woman behind him.
"I never say I was exhausted..."
"Dira imagine if he breaks his bones and becomes crippled because he carried you on a long distance? I can assist you to walk" I cut in stretching my hand towards her and she pulled a frown.
Obviously, I just came in between her lovely moment with Caleb and she was hating me for that.
She reluctantly stretched her hand at me and I almost grabbed it when Caleb held her wrist and began to walk with her.
I scoffed, clenching my fists as I watch them pass me like I wasn't even there.
Annoying!
I turned around to carry my backbag, he was carrying hers and left me with mine. Is this his way of impressing me.
I eyed them from where I stood and exhaled softly while tagging along with them.
They seem as though they knew the path they were trailing on and dira didn't stop a moment without peeking at him which was quite lame for me.
I found myself cursing at her from my heart and they didn't even look at me.
When we got to a beautiful field of lavenders, he paused and then urged her to take pictures.
I was just adjacent them, found spot to sit while the skin on my face squeezes.
Not because of the walk, but because of two of them.
"Care to join?" Dira called and I shooky head.
"Then you can take photos of us both" Caleb said and I widened my eyes at him.
"Please!" Dira added clenching her fingers together like she was praying and I rolled my eyes.
Mustering up strength, I stood up and snatched the camera from him. I'd take the picture anyhow and they shouldn't complain.
While I placed my eyes at the lens, only Caleb's handsome face came in sight, I scrab out dira face and found myself smiling.
She doesn't fit the picture but nevertheless, I captured at least a photo of them together.
Once I was done, I handed him back the camera and turned away but then I felt his hand pulling me back and dira saying;
"Cheers"
Soon, the camera took photos of us three with my face looking surprised. Caleb had set the camera on automode earlier without me looking.
My face brightens as my pride fell for a moment, I was just staring at him as he was checking out the photos with dira beside him.
For me, I maintained a distance as their heads were lowered at the camera. I wish we'd just leave, because I am hungry!
"I only have one photo with you?" She complains kicking her legs on the ground.
Caleb raised his head to look at me and smirk while I eyed him again.
"It's not my fault, I'm a bad photographer" I defended and I could see Caleb's face brighten up.
He stood up from where he sat with his backpack and I looked away, nervous and wondering what he'd say.
However, I felt something soft and hard at the same drop on my leg and i shuddered, throwing my face at him.
"Eat up, you look like a hungry zombie" he whispers and I lowered my eyes at my thighs and realized there were fresh baked bread and fruits with a canned fruit juice.
I shifted my gaze at him and realized he was in a distance now, taking photos of the scenery.
Earlier, the food and snacks I had packaged was taken by my roommate, I thought we'd walk together.
But stupid me was waiting to see Caleb. I clenched it with my hands suddenly feeling emotional or should I say I was an idiot to get carried away.
I stood up from where I sat, my legs worn out while I held his gift like a treasure but he'd only think I have forgiven him.
I stomped towards where I stood and when dira wasn't looking, I threw it at him and said;
"I'm not hungry!" I barked but my stomach was grumbling, embarrassing me in his presence and I folded my lips wondering what was wrong with me.
The package almost fell but he grabbed it with a hand and rolled his eyes at me, like he was bothered.
"And then what? His secretary died of starvation during a hike"
He responded but I didn't listen and just wanted to leave when he grabbed my collar and pulled me back.
"Or you are just jealous I didn't spend time with you?"
My mouth opened and closed as I turned to face him.
"Stop getting on my nerves" I spat glaring at him and trying to control my emotions.
"I know you want me to feed! Bury that pride of us and eat"
"No!"
"Uhmm...is anything going on?" Dira's voice came in as I realized she was walking closer to where we stood but Caleb suddenly said;
"Shut the fuck up and sit back where you are"
I didn't look at dira but I could tell her expression was one that had her jumpy and surprised at Caleb's harsh tone and words to her.
He took my hand and placed it. His eyes peering into mine that I was lost for words.
"I don't mind feeding you, since that's what you want or should I do it with my mouth here?" He whispers and cold flushes down my spine.
I rolled my head to look at dira who had folded her arms and was sitting back where she was.
"You won't!" I spew, wanting to taste his words and he grabbed my collar again, pushing me closer to himself while letting out a grin.
"You said so"
