Chapter 24: Who Dares To Hurt You?

She looked back at Curtis, mind filled with doubt.
"What?" Kendra asked. She somehow had a bad feeling.
Surely, Curtis gave Kendra a car key and said, "We don't prepare ingredients for you. You have to buy them yourself. Here's the car key."
"What?" Kendra yelled and couldn't believe how people inside this castle treated her. Curtis was not kidding, obviously. Lendon was really an asshole.
Kendra clenched her fists and kept silent for a while. Then, she grabbed the key and asked, "When will he come back? I assume I still have enough time to prepare his food,"
"Mr. Martin has an important meeting today. He will be back before 8." Curtis calmly answered.
Kendra only had one and a half hours left to do her task. Wasting no time, she turned around and went to the garage immediately. She drove a black Porsche to the nearest supermarket.
When Lendon got Curtis's message that Kendra had gone to the nearest supermarket, he felt so satisfied. Why did Kendra go against him? He must punish her. He imagined that when he went back today, he could see Kendra suffer from cooking. How delighted it would be!
Other people saw Lendon smiling strangely, and all felt confused. The project leader stopped talking after he noticed Lendon's weird reaction.
Soon, the whole meeting room went silent, and everyone stared at him.
"Are you done?" Noticing the sudden silence, Lendon looked at the speaker, tapping his finger on the table.
"No, not yet."
"Then, why did you stop?!" Lendon's voice roared, "You must finish this meeting within half an hour. You'd better speed up."
Scared, the project manager nodded, "Yes, sir."
Kendra kept cursing Lendon in her mind on her way to the supermarket. She just stayed outside for one night. How could Lendon punish her like that? Kendra got angry and stepped on the gas. However, she wasn't able to control her force, and the car trotted too quickly. What was worse, the car crashed into another car. Kendra stepped on the brake quickly. After the car finally stopped, Kendra's face had turned pale. Was she still alive?
Suddenly, Kendra heard someone cursing her outside loudly. She looked up and saw a strong man standing next to her car and roaring.
"Fuck, can you drive? Are you blind? Don't come out if you can't drive, bitch! I just got my new car today, and you ruined it! Fuck you!" The man shouted in anger.
Kendra realized that she crashed on a brand new BMW and the man looked so horrible. She didn't dare to get off. However, the man kept knocking on Kendra's window and asked her to get off.
Kendra had to get off and apologized to the man.
"I'm sorry, sir. It's my fault. I'm really so sorry." Kendra bent her head, uttering a gentle apology.
"You have to compensate me. It's a new car." Ignoring her apology, the man shouted. He was so pissed off and won't accept any apology as his brand new car was hit.
Kendra looked at the BMW and saw a broken rear lamp. Besides, there were also slight scratches on the car's body. But it didn't seem serious.
"How much do you want?" Kendra bravely asked, thinking she could compensate him.
"10 thousand dollars." The man looked at her and uttered a huge amount.
"What?" Shocked was written on her pretty face. How could she have that huge amount this time?
"You can't afford it? Your car is expensive, and this accident is your fault." The man glared at Kendra.
"But you ask too much." She couldn't help but complain, she could easily calculate that the damage compensation wouldn't reach ten thousand dollars.
"Too much? My car is brand new. I need to spend a lot on fixing it, and you also need to pay me a mental damage compensation." A sharp glare from this man make Kendra felt scared, his voice was like thunder piercing her ears.
"But you must have car insurance. Ten thousand is too much." Kendra argued. Did she look like a fool to him?
"What did you say?" The man pushed Kendra and shouted.
"I only got 500 dollars. Do you want it or not?" Kendra frowned and said. She didn't lie. That was all she got.
"Are you kidding me?" The man grabbed Kendra's arm and threatened her, "If you don't give me the money today, you can't leave."
"Let me go." Kendra struggled and shouted.
"Give me money!" The man insisted.
"I don't have a huge amount that you've asked," She struggled to break free from his clasp.
"You're driving a Porsche! Don't lie to me!" The man sneered and suddenly slapped Kendra's face.
A strong slap she received made her dizzy. She tried to sober herself up, she had to find a way to get rid of this person.
"Give me the money." The man roared and shook her hard.
Kendra leaned against her car, "I will call the police." She took her phone out.
"Okay. I am not afraid of the police." The man arrogantly, clasping her arm tightly.
The police arrived ten minutes later. Kendra and the man were taken to the police station.
Inside the company, Lendon finished the meeting ahead of time and went back to the castle.
"Mr. Martin." Curtis welcomed Lendon at the gate.
"Where is Kendra? Has she finished cooking?" Lendon took his coat off, handed it to Curtis, then asked.
"Miss Miller hasn't come back yet." Curtis followed him.
"What?" Lendon halted his pace, stared at Curtis, and asked, "How long has she gone?"
"More than half an hour." Afraid, Curtis quickly responded.
"Does she want to run away again? I should keep her on a leash." Lendon said fiercely. He took his phone out and called Kendra immediately.
Kendra didn't pick up her phone right away. Lendon tried to stay patient and waited. After a while, Kendra finally answered the phone.
"Kendra, where have you gone? How can you spend so much time buying ingredients? Do you want me to starve? I will give you ten minutes, no, five minutes. Come back, or I will reduce your salary. You will never pay your debt." Lendon shouted.
"Mr. Martin, I have some trouble now. I can't come back." Kendra rubbed her ears and said lowly.
"Don't lie to me. Come back now!" Lendon yelled again. He didn't want to listen to Kendra's explanation.
Kendra felt helpless and wanted to say something, but the man she had gotten into trouble with started cursing behind her.
"It's meaningless for you to make phone calls! Find another friend and make a call, someone who could help you. If you don't give me the money, I won't let you go today, bitch!" The man's loud voice at the other end caught Lendon's attention.
Kendra covered her phone and walked to a corner. "Mr. Martin, I…" She wanted to explain.
"Where are you now?" Lendon heard the noise and interrupted Kendra; suddenly, he realized that she didn't lie.
"I am in the police station." Her voice was so worried, but she soon regretted it, so she added, "I am fine. I can handle it."
Lendon hung up immediately without listening to Kendra's words.
Kendra looked at her phone and sighed.
"Miss Miller, we need to ask you some questions." A police officer walked to Kendra and said.
Kendra nodded and followed him.
"You must give me the money, or you will be detained here." The man threatened her again.
Kendra cooperated with the police actively, giving her clear statement.
Ten minutes later, dozens of black cars stopped in front of the police station. A bodyguard opened the door for a man.
Lendon got off, wearing a cold expression. He wore a black suit today and looked sharp and strong.
As soon as Lendon walked into the police station's main entrance, he saw Kendra sitting on a chair. He walked to her quickly. No one dared to stop him, as they knew who he was.
"Why did you come here?" Kendra asked surprisingly after seeing him.
Lendon stared at Kendra and noticed that her face was swollen. He gently touched her swollen face, enraged, and quickly asked her, "Who hurt you?" He bent over Kendra, held her chin.
"It's okay." Kendra tried to ignore his question.
"I am asking you. Who dares to hurt you?" Lendon's voice came like a sharp thunder that made everyone scared.
The man saw several men coming in and felt scared. He wanted to sneak away quietly, but Lendon glanced at him fiercely. He looks like a Death goblin, ready to take someone's life.
"I…" The man felt frightened and screamed, "I slapped her. What can you do? Would you want to hurt me too?"
Enraged, Lendon walked to the man and punched his face without saying any word.
The man fell down right away.
