Chapter 55: You Are The Hostess In The Castle
She couldn't believe that he will say those words, though, sometimes Lendon was domineering. He never failed to save her when she's in trouble. She didn't expect that Lendon would be merciful to her when she's aggrieved. She didn't blink at all, just stared at him like she's mesmerized by his charm.
Lendon felt a little embarrassed. He pretended to be impatient, blushed, "What are you looking at? Don't give me that kind of look,"
"Thank you, Mr. Martin," Kendra said sincerely. It had been a long day for her. Her father abandoned her, but now Lendon said these warm words to comfort her. She never hoped that someone would love her. But when Lendon did it, she did feel delighted. A proud man who has everything in life, care about her.
"Are you touched?" Sobered, Lendon asked Kendra.
Kendra looked away and pretended to ignore him. She doesn't want to give him some clue that she's a bit moved by his thoughtfulness.
Lendon cocked his eyebrow and forced Kendra to look at him. "Why don't you admit it?" He asked.
"Admit what?" Kendra dropped her head, fidgeting.
"You are touched, aren't you?" Lendon teased her.
"Is it so important for you to hear my answer?" Kendra smiled and asked helplessly.
"Of course!" He was expecting to hear confirmation from her. He clearly remembers Curtis saying that a woman would only fall for a man after being touched by a sweet gesture. So he had been expecting that Kendra will admit her feelings to him.
"Kind of." Kendra smiled gently.
"What do you mean?" Lendon sneered at Kendra, annoyed by her answer, "Just admit your feeling, will you?"
Kendra was speechless. Was that because of the poison again that this man becomes demanding? How could Lendon be so stubborn and arrogant?
When they arrived at the castle, Lendon lifted Kendra up to her room. He brought her to the bathroom and said, "Take a shower. No more crying."
"I know," Kendra said and turned around.
Lendon suddenly grabbed Kendra's waist and hugged her. As Kendra felt confused, Lendon whispered, "Don't hurt yourself again. It hurt me too when I saw you sad," His words were sincere.
Was Lendon afraid that she would kill herself? Kendra smiled and turned around, "No, I won't." She was not so stupid. Since her family abandoned her, she must prove to them that she could be better without them.
"You are my woman. Okay, take a bath now," Lendon said and pushed Kendra to the tub.
Kendra took a shower quickly and walked out of the bathroom.
Lendon was still inside her room. He sat on a sofa casually and stared at Kendra's agreement seriously. Then hearing Kendra walking out, he looked up and asked, "Who let you sign it?"
"My father," Kendra answered, stood next to him.
"I thought your stepmother did it." Lendon's face darkened. He put the file on the desk and walked to her.
Kendra could feel Lendon's strength as he walked to her. He was born to be a king—the descendant of the crown in the future. And people served him willfully. He is a noble duke that everyone looked up to with admiration. She thought all of these while he was approaching her.
"Listen to me, Kendra. You don't need to be afraid of them. If they hurt you, feel free to take revenge. You are my woman, and you can do everything you want to." Lendon quickly hugged her. His attitude was apparent. No one could bully Kendra except him.
Kendra nodded and almost cried again when she heard soothing words from him.
Lendon couldn't afford to see Kendra being mistreated. He pinched her chin and kissed her lips.
Kendra smelled good after the shower. The smell of her shower gel lingered on Lendon's nostril.
He gave a deep and long kiss. Lendon didn't let Kendra go until she felt it hard to breathe.
"I have checked your agreement. It was legally bound. Your father dares to kick you out. I will ask my lawyer to make sure they can't harm you again. From now on, no matter what happens to your family, don't pity them." Lendon rubbed Kendra's face and warned her.
"What are you going to do?" Kendra asked in a panic. She felt that Lendon would do something.
"Leave it to me. Now that they made their choice, they should take the responsibility." Lendon said. Anyone who hurt Kendra should prepare to suffer.
"Are you going to hurt them?" Kendra grabbed Lendon's arm and asked nervously.
"You want to stop me?" Lendon glared at her and asked.
"No, I just don't want to see them anymore." Kendra shook her head, quickly looking down.
"Indeed, you won't see them anymore." Lendon patted Kendra's head and said, "Don't think too much."
Lendon now even wanted to control Kendra's mind.
"Let's have dinner." Lendon held her hand, and they went downstairs. God knew how starving he was because of her.
During the dinner, Kendra had been absent-minded. Lendon almost ate all the food, and Kendra just stared at her plate. Then, Lendon noticed that Kendra barely ate her food.
"What are you doing?" Lendon suddenly asked.
"What?" Hearing him, she raised her head, gaze at him blankly.
"I told you not to think too much. Can you listen to me?" Lendon put down his utensils, giving her an annoyed expression.
Good, Lendon was full now, and he has the courage to lecture her again.
"I don't have an appetite." Kendra gently said and wanted to leave.
"Stop!" Lendon said, beckoning her immediately, "Come here."
Kendra did as Lendon said.
"Sit here!" He said, pointing to his lap. Kendra obediently followed.
Lendon cut a steak into small pieces, picked a small cut, and said, "Eat!" He ordered.
Kendra was surprised. Did Lendon want to feed her? "No, I can do it on my own." Kendra was embarrassed.
"Just eat." Lendon insisted.
Kendra felt helpless. Of course, Lendon wouldn't listen to her. She had to accept his service.
Lendon was not good at feeding someone, but Kendra was almost full after having a few bites of the steak.
"Now, you can go to sleep." Lendon pushed her gently.
"I will gain weight if I sleep immediately," Kendra murmured.
"The go back to your room and stay there." Lendon stared at Kendra and said, "From now on, you are no longer a maid. You are the hostess of this castle,"
"What?!" Kendra was shocked when she heard his last words.
"Are you deaf?" Lendon almost got mad again.
"No, I just…."
"Just go back to your room," Lendon repeated.
Kendra didn't know what Lendon wanted to do. She doesn't want to argue with him. She sighed and left.
After Kendra left, Lendon went to his study room with Curtis.
"Look into the Miller family," Lendon sat on his chair, tapping his hands against the table, "I want their information as specific as possible."
"Yes, My Lord," Curtis nodded and said.
"Wait." Lendon stopped him.
"What can I help you, My Lord?" Curtis halted his tracks, turned around.
"Is there a place in this castle to settle those women?" Lendon asked.
"Yes, sir. Your business partners will send women there from time to time. And they all live in other rooms inside the castle." Curtis thought for a second and answered.
Those women who appeared in Lendon's party, in fact, lived in this castle, too.
"Let them leave the castle," Lendon said casually.
Curtis was surprised. Mr. Martin now only needed Miss Miller. That was not bad.
"Yes." Curtis nodded and said.
"From now on, Kendra is the only hostess of this castle. Do you understand?" Lendon asked. Now that Kendra lost her home, his castle would be hers in the future.
"Yes, My Lord," Curtis said and left.
Lendon opened his laptop and saw many reports about the engagement between Michael and Bianca. He stared at the screen and smiled. Engagement? Good, it was time to show the Miller family how wrong they were.
Kendra woke up early the following day. She opened her eyes and saw Lendon lying next to her. He came here late last night and thought Kendra had slept. However, Kendra was still up at that time. When Lendon lay on the bed next to her and hugged her, she finally slept comfortably.
Lendon was still sleeping. Kendra got up quietly and walked to the bathroom. After she cleaned herself, she went downstairs.
It was so noisy. Curtis was leading a group of men to carry things out from those few rooms inside the castle. Also, several women walked out and left immediately. Why are there several women inside the castle? Kendra suddenly saw a few familiar faces. She used to see these women at the party before. What happened?
"Good morning, Miss Miller." Curtis saw Kendra and greeted her with a smile.
"What are you doing?" Kendra asked curiously.
"Mr. Martin wants them to leave." Curtis casually replied to her question.
"So, they live here all the time?" Kendra asked shockingly, "Who are they?" She never knew that.
Curtis hesitated.
"They all belong to Lendon?" Kendra added.
"Not really." Curtis smiled and explained, "Some of them never meet Mr. Martin."
Oh my god! Lendon was like a real king!
"Don't misunderstand, Miss Miller. These women were just gifts for Mr. Martin, but he said you would be the only woman in this castle starting today." Curtis smiled again.
Kendra was shocked. "Really? He said that?"
"Yes." Curtis nodded politely.
It seemed that Lendon was serious. She thought.
"Curtis, are you done?"
Kendra suddenly heard Lendon's voice. She turned around and saw Lendon walking to her wearing a casual suit. He even looked more handsome.
