Chapter 46: You Should Go To Sleep

Time had passed quickly, but Kendra was so concentrated that she didn't notice it until almost midnight. When she finally got a little tired, she decided to stop.
"Lendon, it's getting late, we can do it the next day," She said, picking up those books and putting them back on the display cabinet.
Lendon nodded and leaned back on the sofa.
"My Lord, it's been late. You just got discharged from the hospital. Don't stay up too late." Curtis walked in and reminded Lendon.
Kendra suddenly recalled Lendon had just recovered. "You should go to sleep. I will return to my room too." She urged him, yawning.
He agitated and don't bother to glance in Curtis's direction, who was now standing next to them, "Don't worry, I'm okay. You should go to sleep,"
Kendra looked at him seriously, puzzled, and felt a headache. If she didn't take some rest tonight, she wouldn't have enough energy for tomorrow. But thinking the short time left before her exam, she changed her mind, "I decided to continue to read the book,"
She picked up some books again and was ready to sit back on her chair.
"Kendra, stop it, you need to rest," Lendon sounded annoyed, looking at her with a cold face. How can she stay late at night?
She rubbed her forehead and said, "No, I need to memorize them." In fact, she was not familiar with international law yet, so she needed more time to memorize everything.
Lendon walked to her and lifted her up.
"What are you doing?" Kendra quickly put her arms around Lendon's neck to support her body not to fall. She was embarrassed, seeing Curtis next to them.
"It's time to sleep. You will feel sleepy tomorrow if you stay up too late." Lendon glanced at Kendra and warned, "Don't say no."
Kendra shut up immediately and shook her head. They walked past Curtis, and she buried her face on Lendon's chest. She could smell his fresh ocean scent. A smile formed at the corner of Curtis's mouth while looking at them.
Lendon held Kendra back to her room and told her to take a shower. Ten minutes later, Kendra walked out of the bathroom. Lendon was standing in front of the window and calling someone. Seeing Kendra walking out, he smiled and walked to Kendra, holding her waist.
Kendra struggled but only made Lendon hold her even more tightly. She frowned and stared at him. Lendon was making a business phone call, but his eyes fell at Kendra so seriously. Suddenly, Lendon buried his head to Kendra's neck and smelled her greedily. After taking a shower, Kendra smelled as sweet as candy, and Lendon wanted to bite her! Kendra felt uncomfortable and crooned.
She gently tried to pull away from his body, but Lendon doesn't let her move. Lendon suddenly got stiff and raised his head up. He looked into Kendra's eyes, and his gaze was full of burning anger, threatening her not to leave.
Kendra looked away nervously and blushed.
Lendon got impatient about his phone call and said, "Okay, enough. Just make a report." He wanted to hang up immediately.
"Mr. Martin, It's been late. Can I…"
"You don't want to do it? You are fired. Don't come to work tomorrow." Lendon said and hung up immediately. He threw his phone to the bed and pressed Kendra to the wall, kissing her urgently.
Kendra struggled and tried to push him away. "It's late. I need to sleep!" She reminded Lendon.
Lendon stared at Kendra and rubbed her lips after kissing her, but he finally gave up and said, "Okay, go to sleep." He held Kendra to bed and still stared at her.
Kendra opened her eyes and didn't feel sleepy at all.
"You don't want to leave?" Kendra asked.
"Yes." Lendon nodded, and his arms suddenly hugged her.
"You don't want to sleep?" Kendra asked again.
"Do you want me to sleep here?" Lendon teased her. " I love to sleep with you," He whispered and bit her earlobe.
Kendra nudge, "Look, it's getting late, and you just have recovered, you can't do anything,"
"Why not? I'm in good condition right now," He teased her again.
Kendra rolled her eyes, "I'm tired, not in the mood,"
Instead of answering her once again, Lendon caught her lips, kissed her passionately until they both gasped.
Kendra said nothing but closed her eyes awkwardly, waiting for his next move. She thought she couldn't stop him.
"Hush. Just sleep, I will leave soon," Lendon patted Kendra softly and murmured.
After a while, Kendra finally fell asleep. Lendon turned off the light and walked out of Kendra's room.
Curtis saw Lendon walking out and asked, "Are you going to sleep, My Lord?"
"No, I will go back to the study room. I still have some documents to check," Lendon said and left.
Kendra opened her eyes slowly after Lendon left. Did he continue to work? She felt guilty because she had taken his long hours to teach her.
It was late. The castle was so quiet. Lendon was still busy with work.
Curtis stood next to Lendon and said, "My Lord, it's time to sleep now. "
"What time is it?" Lendon raised his head and gently massaged his temple. He was tired.
"It's almost 4 am," Curtis answered immediately, looking at him with pity.
Lendon rubbed his eyes and leaned against the chair.
Curtis poured a glass of water for Lendon and said worriedly, "My Lord, you haven't stayed up so late for a long time."
"Yeah, I know," Lendon drank some water and said, "If I didn't teach Kendra, I wouldn't need to be so tired."
"You are fond of Miss Miller very much." Curtis smiled.
Lendon stared at Curtis and asked, "How can you say that?" Was he obviously showing some affection to Kendra?
"You don't like her?" Curtis smiled again, "If you don't like Miss Miller, why are you so nice to her? You never care about someone so much before,"
Curtis had been accompanying Lendon for 20 years. He could easily determine that his Lord has a great affection for Kendra.
Lendon got unhappy, snorted, "Who said I am nice to her? Am I not nice to you? Didn't I treat you well these past years?"
Curtis felt funny and said nothing. He doesn't want to argue with Lendon cause he never treated him unjustly, despite those times Lendon had severe lousy mood swings.
"She is my savior. The only one that can cure me, Curtis. I need her to find the cure for my poison. Did you forget that?" Lendon continued.
"But…"
"But what?" Lendon glanced at Curtis and asked coldly.
Curtis shut up immediately.
"Curtis, did you have a lover?" Lendon suddenly asked after a while.
"What?" Curtis was puzzled.
"Did you love someone before?" Lendon asked again.
Curtis didn't know why Lendon asked him this question suddenly and felt nervous. He hesitated for seconds and answered honestly, "Yes."
"So you think I like Kendra?" He was looking at him, brow cocked.
Was I wrong? Curtis wanted to ask Lendon directly, but he bit back his words. "Maybe you just want to thank her, that's why you treated her nicely recently,"
"You are right." Lendon nodded and said faintly. How would he like that stupid girl? She was less attractive than those women he met before. He admits Kendra had a good look but wasn't the right one that could fit his noble status.
"You can go to sleep now." Lendon turned his gaze to Curtis.
"Okay. Good night, sir." Curtis said and walked away immediately. He closed the door and sighed. It seemed that Mr. Martin couldn't see his heart clearly. Should he help Mr. Martin?
The next day, Lendon and Kendra continued to study together at night. But compared to last night, it was different.
All maids in the castle hid outside the study and listened to their dialogue secretly, including Curtis.
"I said it's not right. Didn't you hear me?" Lendon asked.
"But my professor said it is right," Kendra argued.
"Are you questioning me? Don't believe those old guys." Lendon insisted.
"But…"
"Shut up, Kendra!" Lendon shouted impatiently.
"I'd better revise on my own." She snorted. She knows this will not end up better if she continues arguing with him.
They had a disagreement on a problem. Kendra had her own judgment, but Lendon forced her to do it on his way.
Lendon got a little angry and threw a book on the ground. "You don't believe me now?" He pointed at Kendra, face darkened.
"What's wrong with you? It's not a big deal. Why are you so angry?" Kendra retorted. She really couldn't understand his attitude. Lendon couldn't control his anger.
As Lendon saw it, Kendra would rather believe in her professor than him. For god's sake, he graduated from MIT! She just wasn't willing to listen to him.
"Never mind. I can do it on my own." Kendra calmly said and focused on the book again.
"I am hungry," Lendon said when he found Kendra ignored him totally.
"I am not free. Can't you see I am studying? Ask the chef to prepare your food," She didn't raise her head and didn't even look at him.
