Chapter 44: She's Facing Some Trouble
Once Curtis disappeared, Lendon glanced at Kendra, who is now pacing back and forth in front of him. She's fidgeting and couldn't remove her anxiety.
"Will you stop pacing? Come here!" He patted the space beside his bed. She hesitated for a while but then obediently followed his order.
Soon Curtis comes back, reporting to Lendon. He saw Kendra, curled herself on Lendon's side. An invisible smile ran through his lips.
"My Lord, someone revealed Miss Miller's number on the internet and said that she is pregnant. And Miss Miller wants to marry a rich guy by being his mistress. It's another false accusation,"
Kendra finally understood why so many people called to threaten her. Lendon's anger began to rise again. Who dares to defame Kendra? They're courting death. His eyes fell on her, and he was bothered to see her sad face.
Looking at Kendra being so upset, Lendon felt mad, eyes returned to Curtis, "Do you find who did it?"
"Yes." Curtis looked at Kendra with pity.
Kendra also looked at him. She wanted to know the answer. Who had done it? Why did they want to ruin her reputation?
"It is Miss Miller's stepmother." Curtis immediately answered.
Kendra gasped. She knew it. She was not surprised at all because Marga was eager to do an evil act to drag her down.
"What should we do now, My Lord?" Curtis had to ask Lendon's advice before taking any countermeasures.
Lendon clenched his jaw. He was so mad but still trying not to yell, "Delete all relevant posts on the internet. Warn her family that if they do it again, I won't let them go." He wouldn't allow Kendra to be hurt by anyone else.
"Noted on that," Curtis was about to leave after he heard Lendon's words. He has to act immediately before the rumors spread widely and could harm Kendra.
"Wait!" Kendra stopped Curtis. She raised her face and turned to Lendon, "Why are you going to do that?"
"I am showing them that they are wrong. Are you trying to defend them? Don't be stupid, they are ruing your reputation," Lendon said coldly.
"But it's my own business," Kendra argued. She worried that Lendon would make it more complicated.
"But can you handle this? Do you know how bad they are? You can't defeat them." Lendon glanced at her again, annoyed by her reaction.
"But they are my family." Kendra raised her hands, held Lendon's arm. She knew the engagement between Michael and her was the reason. She should figure out a solution.
"They are your family? I would doubt it if they treated you the same. Just listen to me." Lendon insisted. How could he let Kendra deal with the problem on her own? She was too weak in his eyes.
"I know you want to help me. But you have nothing to do with it. I don't want to make trouble for you either," Kendra was hesitating to tell Lendon about the engagement thing because she's afraid it would create more problems.
"Are you kidding me? No one can make trouble for me. I am Lendon Martin. Who dares to make any bad accusation against me?" Lendon said arrogantly, "Curtis, do it now!" He had made up his mind.
"Okay," Curtis soon left.
Kendra felt a little worried and asked, "Why don't you just let me deal with it? It's my personal problem,"
"How? Don't you know how weak you are or how evil your stepmother is? I knew she schemed so many evil things behind your back," Lendon retorted rudely. He didn't like Kendra to pretend to be strong.
Kendra didn't know how to respond. Lendon was right. She was too weak. Marga had framed her several times during past years, and she couldn't defend herself at all. Finally, she was kicked out of her family. Was it enough reason to let her pay what she did to her?
Lendon suddenly hugged her tightly. He caught her lips and gave a deep kiss. Once their lips parted, they both breathless.
"You..." Kendra pushed him in surprise.
Lendon trace the curve of her thin lips, whispered, "Do you want to do something meaningful?"
She blushed immediately, pushing Lendon's chest again, "Don't you dare, you aren't even well,"
She held his hand that gradually made its way down her legs, "Stop it!"
A burst of crisp and loud laughter came out from Lendon's mouth. It was the first time she saw him being so happy.
"Okay, I'll stop now. Sleep! You should have some sleep. Don't think about it, Curtis can deal with it," He held Kendra and rubbed her hair softly.
"I am not sleepy." Kendra raised her head and looked at him. For god's sake, it was at noon.
"Just close your eyes." Lendon insisted and covered Kendra's eyes.
Kendra had to do as he ordered, afraid to make him mad. Somehow, she really was tired and soon fell asleep in Lendon's arms. When she woke up, Lendon was not on the bed. She rubbed her forehead and sat up slowly.
Kendra looked around and saw the moonlight filtering through the window. Lendon was sitting on a sofa in front of the bed and staring at his laptop. There were many files beside him. He seemed busy.
Kendra got up and jumped out of bed. She walked towards him.
Lendon heard the noise and raised his head, "You wake up."
"Yes." Kendra nodded, sat beside him, "How long have I slept?"
"Four hours." Lendon said and put his laptop on the coffee table, "Come here." He patted on his lap, beckoning Kendra to sit on it. He wanted to cuddle her.
She hesitated but still obeyed. He picked up something beside him. It was a new phone.
Lendon gave Kendra a new phone and held her. "I have installed an app to block unwanted calls. You won't receive crank calls anymore."
A surprise was written on her face. She was touched by his gesture, "Thank you."
"Tell Curtis if this kind of thing happens again. He will help you to deal with it. But I think it will never happen again." Lendon said confidently.
"What did you do?" She looked at him, eager to know the immediate action that he has taken.
"I just warned them." Lendon shrugged his shoulders. If they were not Kendra's family, he would have definitely made them suffer a painful punishment.
"You didn't hurt them?" She was scared by his answer.
"No," Lendon said and smelled Kendra's neck.
"Will it happen again?" Kendra asked.
"Never." Lendon kissed Kendra's neck and said.
Kendra trembled and got stiff.
Lendon held Kendra tightly and pinched her chin. "When would be the next full moon night? I can't wait to have you," He whispered, running his hands on Kendra's back.
Kendra suddenly realized that the next full moon night was close, and she can't prevent what Lendon wanted to do. She heaved a deep sigh.
"What? Are you not going to fulfill your part of our contract?" He sounded aggrieved.
Kendra just shook her head. She wanted to run away, but how will she do it when she's having no enough money to pay her debt to Lendon.

Marga sat down in the living room alone and looked so angry. The living room was in a mess.
Bianca walked in and saw the mess, feeling so surprised. She noticed that her mother was crying.
"Mom, what happened?" Bianca ran to Marga and asked.
"Bianca, you are back!" Marga held Bianca and cried out loudly.
Bianca never saw Marga being so sad. She felt panic and asked, "What happened? Are you hurt? Did someone break into our house?"
"I am fine." Marga wiped her tears and said, "It was Kendra!"
"What? What did she do?" Bianca was surprised by her Mom's revelation.
"She sent several men here and smashed all the expensive things we have. They also warned me not to spread false accusations anymore, or they will kill me." Marga said gravely and grabbed Bianca's hands, "Bianca, Lendon Martin has her back now. She must take revenge against us soon. We can't let it happen."
"Calm down, mom." Bianca frowned and asked, "How do you know it was Kendra?"
"You don't believe me? Those men said they took orders from Lendon Martin!" Marga shouted.
"Mom, stop. Don't mess with Kendra anymore." Bianca said after thinking for a while.
"You are right. We shouldn't mess with her anymore. But we don't have much time left. We must let Michael agree to marry you." Marga said worriedly. Now Kendra became her top threat. As long as Kendra was alive, she may have revenge one day.
"Kendra has Lendon Martin now. He is much more powerful than Michael. She won't choose Michael. Don't worry." Bianca patted her Mom's back to calm her.
"Don't be silly." Marga was annoyed, "She doesn't want Michael, but she wants revenge. We can't wait. You must marry Michael as soon as possible. She can do nothing after you get married as Michael was a lawyer,"
Bianca stared at her Mom and felt worried. She wanted to marry Michael too, but the problem is, he had already told her that he wouldn't marry her.
"Before your father comes back, we must fix everything. I will visit Michael's mother tomorrow." Marga quickly fixed herself.
"But I am not Kendra. Michael wasn't my fiance, either," Hesitation appeared on her face.
"Don't worry. I will tell her the truth. We don't have another choice." Marga is convincing her.
