Chapter 48: She Was Different
Curtis still stood next to him, waiting for his answer. Lendon was so mad that he hated to see people around him now.
"My Lord, please. Don't hurt yourself. If the palace knows you're being hurt, they will make it a big issue," Curtis continued to beg.
"Get out! Leave me alone," Lendon shouted and suddenly rushed to Curtis. He punched Curtis directly.
Curtis avoided Lendon's attack swiftly. If he was a second slower, he needed to go to the hospital by now. Curtis was adequately trained to protect Lendon from any harm, so martial art was part of his skills since he came to serve him.
"Get out!' Lendon growled, annoyed that Curtis was able to dodge his attack.
Curtis knew that Lendon had run out of patience. If he said anything more, Lendon would kick his ass.
"I will call Alexis. You're wound need to be treated,"
Curtis left the gym and went to Alexis. They went back to the gym together and stood outside the door.
"Alexis, what should we do? Mr. Martin is getting more and more aggressive recently." Curtis couldn't help but worry.
"What happened to him?" Alexis was puzzled. Seeing Lendon seemed sad and mad.
Curtis told him everything happened an hour ago.
After hearing everything, Alexis just nodded. Although he knew Lendon's temperament very well, no one could stop him when he's enraged.
"You must treat his wound, it is still bleeding. We can't wait here and watch him suffer," Curtis urged worriedly.
"Curtis, you know it. If Mr. Martin was mad, no one could stop him. He needs to calm down by himself. Forcing him will ignite his anger," Alexis said helplessly. It was still fresh on his mind how Lendon physically attacked him a few days ago when Kendra came for help.
Suddenly Curtis suggested, "Can we give him some tranquilizer?"
"Do you think he will allow us to do that? I'm sure before we could come near him, expect his massive attack. Can't you see he is dangerous to deal with right now," Alexis glanced at Curtis. A gentle smile showed on his lips.
"What should we do then?" Curtis asked and felt so desperate.
Alexis frowned and stared at the door. Then, after a while, he said, "Get Miss Miller here."
"Why?" Curtis was puzzled.
"She is the only one who can control Mr. Martin." Alexis calmly said. He knew his idea would work better. That woman can only tame Lendon when he's enraged.
"But she pissed Mr. Martin off. Is it a good idea?" Curtis asked with uncertainty. Anyway, Lendon's mania could be dangerous. He couldn't be stimulated anymore.
"We don't have an option. Kendra is the only person who can fight against him" Alexis smile. He could tell that Lendon loved Kendra fatally, but he's so stubborn to accept it. She was the only cure for this psycho.
"Fine. I trust your suggestion," Curtis quickly sprinted.
Kendra was standing in front of the window in her bedroom. She was still shaking as the scene inside the study room repeatedly played on her mind. How could she hurt Lendon again? She was nervous and couldn't calm herself down.
"Miss Miller." Curtis's voice suddenly came in, startling her.
"Curtis, you almost cause me a heart attack. What's up?" Kendra turned around and asked confusedly.
"Please help Mr. Martin." Curtis worriedly said, "He won't allow us to deal with his wound, and it's still bleeding. He is beating a sandbag in the gym now. I'm afraid it will cause him another problem if he continues doing it,"
"What?" Kendra was shocked. What was Lendon doing? Was he hurting himself?
"Mr. Martin will be dangerous when his mania breaks out. He can't be stimulated. I haven't seen him like that for a long time. I don't know what to do." Curtis said helplessly.
"He may be angrier if he sees me." Kendra was a bit nervous, clenching her fists.
"No. Miss Miller, we all know how much Mr. Martin cares about you. Maybe he will listen to you and only to you." Curtis insisted.
Kendra hesitated. How could it be possible? She's the reason why he's hurt. What if Lendon will get revenge on her?
"He never cared about a girl before. I don't know how he thinks, but I am sure that you are different from those women that tried to win his attention. He never cared for them," Curtis added.
Kendra didn't know what to say. Lendon cared about her? She was different? Why did she feel horrible now?
"Please? Mr. Martin helped you a lot these days. Would you mind helping him this time? I'm begging you," Curtis looks so sad. Kendra couldn't refuse him because Curtis has been good to her.
Kendra thought for a while and finally agreed. So she went to the gym with Curtis. Standing outside the door, Kendra took a deep breath and walked in.
Lendon didn't turn around even if he heard someone come in. Instead, he shouted, "I told you to get out! Don't make me repeat, Curtis!"
"It's me." Kendra gently said. She looked at Lendon's bleeding wound and felt heartbroken. It seemed that she really hurt him seriously.
Indeed, when Lendon heard Kendra's voice, he got stiff. Later, he hit the sandbag with enormous strength while glaring at it fiercely.
Kendra felt worried and walked to Lendon. "Mr. Martin, you are bleeding. Stop it!" She could feel her knees shaking, but she needed to convince him, otherwise, the wound will get severe.
"Get out!" Lendon shouted. He frowned with a sweaty face.
"Curtis is worried about you. You are bleeding. You should deal with your wound." Kendra stared at Lendon with a worried face.
The sandbag kept waving as Lendon hit it. Lendon didn't answer her. Instead, he just sped up even more.
"I am so sorry. Can we talk after you deal with your wound, Lendon?" Kendra calmly said, trying her best to appease him.
"Shut up!" Lendon shouted impatiently, raining punches on the sandbag.
Kendra stepped back because she was so afraid. Lendon seemed to want to kill her while his wound kept bleeding. Kendra had no choice. She made up her mind and held the sandbag. The next second, Kendra saw Lendon punch aiming at her. She quickly shut her eyes. Time seemed to stop. She didn't feel any pain.
Kendra quickly opened her eyes and looked back. Lendon's fist was almost a centimeter away from her face. He could have killed her.
"Wow! It's close." Kendra smiled nervously, trying to joke.
"Kendra Miller! You're pissing me off," Lendon shouted hysterically.
Kendra covered her ears and looked at him. "I told you to stop. You didn't listen to me." She stubbornly retorted.
Lendon felt so annoyed and took his gloves off, throwing them to the ground. "Do you think I won't hurt you? Kendra, don't consider yourself as someone special even if you are useful to me. Don't you know I could kill you just now?" His jaw clenched. He knew clearly how much strength he used just now. If he didn't stop, Kendra might have landed in the hospital immediately. Thinking about it, Lendon suddenly got afraid. What if he loses his temper and hits her? This woman really got into his nerves.
Kendra didn't say a word to defend herself. She just stood there quietly. A moment of silence occurred between them. Kendra knew she succeeded.
"You didn't hit me at all," She pouted her lips, looking cute.
There she goes again. She was acting like a cute little girl forcing him to calm down. This woman must have mastered this art of seduction. He thought.
"Why did you come here? Why did you hold the sandbag? Don't you know how dangerous it is? What if I hurt you?" Lendon's voice was loud, he was pacing in front of her.
"I just want you to stop. Look at yourself, you seemed like a... never mind," Kendra suddenly cut her words. This psycho was full of ego, and she knew that no one could stop him.
"Don't find an excuse." Lendon grabbed Kendra's arm and said, "Don't challenge my patience again."
Kendra felt so speechless. She was here to help because Curtis asked her to do it. Why is he mad?
"Why don't you speak? Speak!" Lendon sneered at her.
"You told me to shut up! And you're so mad, how would I dare to speak again?" Kendra rolled her eyes.
"You!" He was pissed off with her answer. Seeing her rolling her eyes added insult to his ego. Only this woman dared to do it to him. "You know I could strangle you to death!"
