Chapter 70: How Smart She Is
His smile became cunning. Lendon suddenly felt excited and got close to Kendra.
Kendra wanted to lean back, but Lendon grabbed her chin and kissed her quickly. Then, he plundered her sweetness rudely and locked Kendra into his arms.
Kendra tried to push Lendon away, but he held her waist and put her on his legs. "I am going to lose control," Lendon whispered.
"Don't do it here." Kendra blushed crimson and shivered. She could feel his warmth that softened her body.
Lendon smiled and carried her out of this room. He looked at Kendra and asked, "Which room do you prefer?"
"What?"
"Which room? Quick!" There's a sudden urge in his voice. He could barely control his desire.
"There." Kendra pointed to a room at the end of the corridor.
Lendon walked hastily to the room and closed the door as soon as they got in.
It was another tiring night for Kendra as Lendon didn't let her go until he was satisfied.
The next day, the rain stopped, and the sun came out.
Yolanda's tomb was near the land of lavender. It was her last wish. She wanted to be around her most favorite flower forever.
"It's a sunny day," Kendra uttered happily. However, when they arrived at the lavender land, Lendon suddenly got upset.
"We are here. Let's go." She quickly announced and wanted to get off. However, Lendon grabbed her arm.
Kendra looked at him and asked confusedly, "What's up?"
"I will wait for you here. You go alone." Lendon explained in a gentle tone.
"Why?" She looked at him, confused.
"Miss Miller, Mr. Martin is allergic to lavender," Curtis explained.
"Oh, I see, I will go on my own. You can walk around." Kendra was stunned to hear about Lendon's allergy, but she still nodded.
"No, I will just sit in the car and wait for you." Lendon refused immediately.
"I might need a while." She informed him. She wanted to spend at least an hour with her mother's tomb.
"I can wait." Lendon insisted.
"Fine, I will come back as soon as possible," Kendra said and wanted to get off.
However, Lendon stopped Kendra again. He pulled Kendra into his arms and kissed her. Lendon seemed annoyed that he couldn't go with her. But after a few minutes, he became gentle and patient. Kendra was like honey to Lendon. He couldn't have enough forever. When Kendra almost couldn't breathe, Lendon finally let her go.
"I will be back soon." Kendra blushed, looking away. She got off immediately this time.
After Kendra left, Lendon became disturbed. After a while, he told Curtis to send some bodyguards to protect Kendra.
Curtis nodded.
Ten minutes later, Lendon got anxious and said, "She went too long." He frowned and got impatient.
"My Lord, it's just 10 minutes." Curtis looked at his watch, informed him patiently.
Lendon glanced at Curtis with a gloomy face. It scared Curtis, and he shut his mouth.
Twenty minutes later, Lendon got off and wanted to follow Kendra.
"My Lord, you are allergic to lavender. Don't get too close." Curtis stopped Lendon and said.
Lendon kicked small stones on the road and felt upset.
"Sir, I have sent a group of bodyguards to follow Miss Miller. She will be fine." Curtis comforted Lendon.
Lendon glared at Curtis.
"I am sorry, sir." Curtis lowered his head and apologized.
"Curtis," Lendon suddenly asked, "How did you chase a girl? I have done so many things for Kendra, and she still doesn't like me." He was looking at the lavender field. His eyebrows were frowning.
"What?" Curtis asked in surprise. He didn't expect Lendon would ask him this question. Lendon was strange recently. He was always confident in everything he did. But he changed after he met Kendra.
"Sir, it takes time to get to know someone and fall in love with him. Besides..." Curtis hesitated. He remembered that Kendra told him that she liked someone else.
"What?" Lendon stared at Curtis and asked.
"You two just know each other for a short time. Miss Miller will know your heart one day." Curtis said. He couldn't tell Lendon the truth. If Lendon knew Kendra liked someone else, she would suffer. Curtis thought the current situation between Lendon and Kendra was good. Kendra would understand Lendon one day.
"It's too slow." Lendon said and walked back and forth, "I am not sure when she will like me. Maybe she needs one year, maybe ten years, maybe a lifetime!"
"It's impossible, sir," Curtis shook his head. He wondered where the arrogant Lendon he knew went.
"Why impossible?" Lendon glanced at Curtis and said. He thought Kendra liked him.. but it turned out he was wrong. He must do something to make Kendra fall in love with him quickly. He couldn't wait any longer.
"Curtis, tell me how you chased girls," Lendon asked again.
"Sir," Curtis hesitated and said, "I only loved one girl."
"You are so loyal." Lendon teased him.
"There was one and the only girl I loved. I did everything she liked and made chances to stay with her. But, of course, I didn't force her to stay with me." Curtis smiled and said.
"You think I am forcing Kendra all the time." Lendon's voice was a bit harsh.
Curtis didn't say anything.
Lendon looked at him and went deeply into thinking.
At the same time, Kendra crossed the lavender field and walked to her mom's tomb. She had not been here for one year, but it was still clean.
"Mom, I am visiting you today. I'm sorry that it's a bit late, I've had a hard time recently," Kendra smiled bitterly. She looked at her mom's picture, and her mom seemed to say hello to her, too.
Kendra bent over and rubbed her mom's picture. "Mom, I have brought some lavender for you. Though you can see them every day, I want to give you your most favorite flowers."
Every time Kendra came here, she would feel nervous. Yolanda was a good mother. She was soft-hearted and never cursed or beat Kendra. However, she left Kendra too early.
"Mom, I want to tell you something." Kendra said and sat down in front of her mom's tomb, "I left our home. Dad kicked me out. But don't worry. I am fine now. After I leave our family, I don't need to pretend. And Marga can never bully me anymore. I feel relaxed and happy now. Do you feel happy for me, mom?" Kendra's voice sounded calm without any emotion.
No one answered her. Kendra caressed her mom's picture and wanted to cry. "Mom, if you were still alive, would you feel sad for me? Why did Robert never care about me? Wasn't I excellent enough? Why did he abandon me?"
"Miss Miller?"
As Kendra was absorbed in her sorrow, she heard an old voice. She looked up and saw an old lady standing next to her.
"Anne!" Kendra recognized the lady and called her name in surprise.
"Miss Miller, it's really you!" Anne cried and walked to her.
"Anne, why are you here?" Kendra stood up and asked excitedly. She hadn't seen Anne for almost ten years. Anne was her babysitter, but she never showed up again after Yolanda died. Kendra didn't expect to meet her here.
"I came here to visit Mrs. Miller." Anne coughed and said. She looked weak.
"Anne, how are you these years?" Kendra held Anne's arm and asked worriedly. She remembered Anne was almost 50 years old when she left. So she should be more than 60 years old now. Anne didn't marry, so she was always alone.
"After I left, I worked at another place for years. I went back to my hometown after I retired. Now I am old." Anne said with a bitter smile.
Kendra patted Anne's back softly.
"Miss Miller, it is a surprise to meet you here," Anne said sincerely.
"Yeah, I didn't expect that I could see you again." Kendra's voice was filled with happiness.
"How are you? Does your stepmother treat you well?" Anne suddenly asked.
Speaking of that, Kendra's smile suddenly disappeared. She couldn't even utter a nice word for Marga.
"Miss Miller, is she mean to you? I knew it! I knew it! She is not a good person." Anne said angrily.
"Calm down, Anne." Kendra comforted Anne, "I have left the Miller family. I don't need to deal with her anymore."
"What? Why did you leave? It's your mother's legacy," Anne was surprised at Kendra's answer.
"I heard Bianca engaged with Mr. Baker days before. Is that true?" Anne changed the topic quickly.
"Yes, but they canceled it. Actually, their engagement was ruined by someone,"
"Why did Bianca engage with Mr. Baker? Mrs. Miller arranged this engagement for you years ago. What happened?" Anne held Kendra's hands, confused by the sudden news she heard.
"My father let Bianca replace me. And he kicked me out. Well, they have evil plans, but I really don't care about it," Kendra explained patiently.
"What?" Anne couldn't believe what she heard, "I finally realized your stepmother is an evil woman. First, she managed to frame Mrs. Miller, then you. Then, in the end, she used her daughter to replace you. How smart she is!"
