Chapter 60: The Heavy Slap
He rushed down, carrying Kendra in his arms. "Get the car ready, he yelled to his people,"
Shawn followed them, "What happened, my Lord,"
Heading to the garage, he said, "Kendra's stomach was hurting, quick Shawn, get the car ready,"
Shawn immediately prepared the car, and it sped along the highway.
Lendon took Kendra to the emergency room when they arrived at the hospital, and the doctor asked Kendra to undergo a CT scan first. Kendra found a chance to sneak out. She avoided Lendon and his bodyguards, running to the operating room.
Bianca sat on a bench and cried sadly. She still wore her dress but seemed totally different. Marga was nowhere to find, and Bianca was alone.
"Bianca." Kendra sat next to Bianca and called her name in a low voice.
Bianca looked up and held Kendra's hand immediately. She even wailed like a baby.
"He will be fine. Don't cry." Kendra patted her back. Her eyes also turned red. Though Robert was a cruel father, Kendra somehow still felt heartbroken. At the same time, Kendra felt so guilty. It should be a wonderful night, but she ruined everything. Robert wouldn't be in this condition if she hadn't come.
"Kendra, what should we do?" Bianca asked and choked with sobs like a helpless child.
"Don't worry, Bianca. They have the best doctors here. He will be fine." Kendra's soothing words came out. But she didn't notice that her tears were streaming down too.
"Why do you come here?" Marga suddenly appeared and asked in anger. She pulled Kendra up and slapped her heavily. Obviously, she blamed her.
In an instant, Kendra's face swelled, and her mouth even bled. She wasn't aware that Marga would slap her. It happens abruptly. She fell to the ground.
"Mom!" Bianca screamed in panic and helped Kendra stand up, "Are you okay?"
"I am fine," Kendra answered and wiped her blood. She glared at Marga.
"How dare you come here?" Marga roared. "We don't need you here,"
"I called her. Dad is still inside the operating room, mom. Kendra is his daughter too, and she needed to know dad's condition," Bianca explained exhaustedly.
"Bianca, are you kidding me?" Marga pointed at Bianca and shouted, "We become a laughing stock because of her! She ruined your engagement party! Why did you still call her? She is not a member of our family anymore,"
"Mom..."
"Shut up!" Marga yelled again. She couldn't forget what happened tonight, and as she saw Kendra, she could hardly control her anger.
"Kendra, don't think you can do everything even if you have Lendon Martin now. I will always remember that you hurt my husband and daughter! I will not let you win over this battle," Marga threatened her. Her face was like an evil woman who was ready to attack anytime.
Kendra leaned against the wall and felt so sad. She can't find words to say. She felt wronged.
"Mom, enough. You're getting far this time. Don't blame Kendra for what had happened as we both know dad maltreated her," Bianca retorted.
"Get out of here. Don't let me see you again. If Robert can't survive tonight, I will kill you myself." Marga said coldly.
Kendra didn't know how she got out of the hospital. She sat on a step and held herself. It was a windy night, and Kendra just curled her body up. After a while, she took an amulet out of her pocket and stared at it. What should I do? Why didn't you appear? You're a liar! You promise me to come back and would marry me, but where are you now? Liar! Liar! Liar! Tears welled at the corner of her eyes.
"Kendra!" Lendon shouted loudly.
Kendra trembled, and the amulet dropped off. She picked it up immediately, slid it into her pocket, and wiped her tears.
Lendon stood near Kendra and glared at her. How dared Kendra sneak out while he was waiting for her? If the CCTV didn't catch her, he would demolish the entire hospital.
"You are getting more and more impudent," Lendon said like an angry lion.
"I am sorry. I..." Kendra wanted to explain.
However, Lendon walked to Kendra and held her. Kendra frowned and tried to push him away, but Lendon didn't let her go.
"Lendon," Kendra called Lendon's name faintly.
"Do you know how afraid I am?" Lendon asked worriedly. His jaw clenched.
Kendra was surprised. Lendon worried about her? "Lendon, I was..." She started to cry again.
Lendon was stunned, seeing her tears streaming down. She looked vulnerable. He grabbed her into his arms. He hugged her tightly.
"Do you want to escape from me again?" Lendon ran his hand on Kendra's back. Kendra said nothing, still sobbing.
He pushed her gently and stared at him. This thought made him mad, looking at her face full of tears.
"No, I just..."
"Just what? You have tried to escape before. Don't deny it." Lendon tried to control his anger.
"I need my own privacy." Kendra finally said, "I can't stay with you all day." She just left for a short time. Why was Lendon get mad?
Indeed, hearing Kendra's words, Lendon got annoyed.
Kendra and Lendon looked at each other and said nothing. It was so quiet. Kendra could only hear the wind.
Shawn ran to them and wanted to say something, but he stood behind Lendon and kept silent as he saw what was happening. Soon, he decided to step back.
Lendon realized Kendra's words and felt disappointed. "You lied to me tonight?" He stared at Kendra and asked coldly. Kendra never lied to him before.
"I..." Kendra hesitated and didn't know how to explain. It was true that she lied.
Lendon clenched his fists and looked horrible.
Kendra got nervous. She knew Lendon was infuriated now.
"Where did you go?" Lendon's voice was heavy.
Kendra stared at him, wiping her tears, but she didn't answer.
"Tell me!" Lendon grabbed Kendra's hand and shouted.
"My Lord," Shawn pitied Kendra, so he took enough courage to say something for Kendra, "Mr. Miller is having surgery now. He got a heart attack after what happened to the engagement party,"
"Did you come here to see him?" Lendon sneered and asked.
Kendra nodded.
"Kendra, are you stupid? Why do you still care about him?" Lendon was annoyed. He really didn't understand her.
"Lendon, please stop yelling at me. He is still my father, whether you like it or not. I only have him as a family member," Kendra lowered her head and began to cry again. Even if Robert hurt her, abandoned her, and forced her to sign an agreement, he was still her father. Nothing could change this fact.
"What are you thinking about?" Lendon shouted in anger.
Kendra wailed like a child who made a mistake.
After a while, Lendon calmed down a little. He took a deep breath and asked, "Why don't you speak? Did you felt wronged? Shouldn't I blame you?" He raised her face and pinched her chin. Suddenly, he was taken aback, seeing her tears never stop falling.
Kendra bit her lips and tried to control her sorrow, but her tears kept rolling down, and she couldn't help trembling.
"Don't cry," Lendon said and wiped her tears. His expression softened.
Kendra didn't know why she cried. She just couldn't stop her emotion.
"Don't cry. You cry too much. I didn't do anything to you!" Lendon hugged her again.
Kendra, still trembling and sobbing.
"Stop!" Lendon said impatiently, "It's useless. From now on, you can't leave me for more than 10 minutes. Or, I will punish you." He had made up his mind.
Kendra didn't oppose it. Instead, she realized that Lendon's desire to control her increased gradually. Wherever she went, he will follow her. She needed to stay with him, except in the bathroom. She felt she couldn't even breathe under Lendon's care.
Lendon thought Kendra agreed, so he wanted to kiss her. But as he looked at Kendra's face, he frowned and asked, "What's wrong with your face?" Unfortunately, the street lights were a bit dark, so he didn't notice that Kendra's face was swollen earlier.
"Nothing." Kendra quickly covered her face.
"They slapped you." Lendon queried.
"Lendon, I am fine." Kendra grabbed Lendon's hand immediately. She was afraid that Lendon would do horrible things again.
"You are fine? Do you know your face is swollen?" Lendon shouted. The Miller family went too far. They didn't respect him at all.
"It's not painful." Kendra smiled, trying to convince him. Unfortunately, she couldn't stimulate Lendon anymore. Too many things had happened tonight.
Lendon stared at her for a long time and finally said nothing. So instead, he held Kendra and took her back to the castle.
Kendra wrapped her arms around Lendon's neck as they walked to her room and felt uncomfortable. She was not sure how Lendon felt for her. She couldn't sleep tonight for sure.
As for Lendon, he always had a good sleep since he slept with Kendra.
The following day, Kendra woke up early and cleaned herself. Then, she went to the dining hall.
Shawn put a newspaper on the desk. Kendra looked it through and found there was nothing about yesterday's party. It seemed that Lendon fulfilled his promise.
At that time, Bianca texted Kendra and told her Robert's heart surgery was successful.
Kendra felt relieved and smiled. It was a lovely morning for her.
"What makes you so happy?" Lendon held Kendra's waist behind her and asked. He put his head on Kendra's shoulder.
"Nothing. Let's have breakfast." Kendra shook her head and rubbed his face.
Lendon forced Kendra to turn around and kiss her passionately.
