Chapter 43: He Was Worried About Her
For a moment, the atmosphere between them turned scarry. Lendon didn't utter any words.
"Alexis is innocent. We did nothing at all." Kendra gently explained. She can't bear to see other people get beaten because of Lendon's wrong perception.
"But he saw your shoulder." Lendon rolled his eyes. It was so private, and he didn't allow other people to see it. How could Alexis see her bare skin and those marks he left her body?
"But you shouldn't beat him. He is a doctor, and I asked him for help. It is normal." Kendra said helplessly.
"I just don't like it. I won't allow anybody to see your skin," Lendon insisted stubbornly.
Kendra sighed and felt desperate. She felt drained and realized that it's useless to argue with him.
"Why do you care about him so much, huh? I am sick here, not him!" Lendon complained.
"Look, I didn't mean that way nor care for him differently. But I think you made a mistake, and you should say sorry." She stared straight into his eyes, trying to convince him.
"Are you kidding me? I will ask sorry for him?" Lendon sneered and asked.
"You hurt him. If everyone can beat others casually like you, why do we need laws?" Kendra argued.
"Kendra, are you lecturing me? I can do whatever I want," Lendon was suddenly annoyed. What did she say? She wanted him to say sorry? Alexis deserved to be beaten, he thought.
"I…"
"Get out!" Lendon said and pushed Kendra away.
Kendra fell to the ground and shouted, "You…." He is really a psycho, she thought and even cursed him silently.
Lendon turned his back on Kendra and said nothing.
Kendra patted her ass and stood up. It was better. She didn't need to sleep here tonight. Kendra walked out and slammed the door without any hesitation.
Lendon turned around and found Kendra really left. He grabbed a pillow and threw it away, shouting, "Kendra Miller, what the fuck!"
When Kendra walked out of Lendon's VIP ward, it was already midnight.
"I thought you would stay with him tonight." Curtis comes in a hurry as she saw Kendra walking away.
Kendra had the same idea, but things changed. "I don't want to disturb him. I should go to give him some privacy," Kendra explained. She had to find an excuse. How could she say that Lendon kicked her out? It was so shameful.
"Okay. Good night, Miss Miller. See you tomorrow." Curtis smiled and waved his hand.
Before she leaves, she asked Curtis, "Can I come to the castle the next day instead?" Lendon was pissed off now, and she knew he wouldn't want to see her tomorrow.
"If Mr. Martin can't see you tomorrow, he will get mad again," Curtis said seriously.
Kendra somehow agreed with Curtis. Who knew what Lendon would do?
"How is Alexis now?" Kendra asked immediately.
"Don't worry. He is fine." Curtis answered.
"Okay, I will leave now,"
It was late when she arrived at the castle, and Alexis must sleep now. Kendra thought she would visit Alexis tomorrow since she doesn't have any class. Tired and worn out, she fell asleep immediately.
The next day, Kendra got up early and went to the kitchen. She prepared some porridge and soup.
"Miss Miller, do you prepare these for Mr. Martin?" The new chef asked.
"The porridge is for Lendon. But the soup will be for Doctor Trump." Kendra smiled and answered, hands were busy transferring what she cooked to a Tupper.
Alexis just got up early too. He heard some footsteps approaching, and when he opened the door, Kendra stood next to him.
"Alexis, I cooked some soup for you," She smiled, giving him the Tupper.
He accepted it immediately. When he saw Kendra's soup, he felt so thankful.
"Alexis, I am so sorry that Lendon had beaten you yesterday. I feel guilty, as Lendon wronged you," Kendra looked at him and apologized. There were many wounds on his face.
"It's not your fault. I understand," Alexis smiled gently. But as he spoke, his wounds hurt, so he had to take a deep breath.
"Are you okay?" Kendra asked worriedly.
" Yeah. I am fine." Alexis rubbed his face, reassuring her, "It just needs some time to recover."
"I am really sorry. I shouldn't ask for your help. Lendon misunderstood it," Kendra lowered her head and couldn't help but feel sad. Alexis was badly beaten up because of her, how would she have the courage to face him again?
"Miss Miller. It's okay. Don't worry, I'm fine," Alexis said.
"Can't you heal his mania? You know he's getting worse recently," Kendra asked.
"The poison inside his body causes his mania. I need to deal with his poison first." Alexis sighed and answered.
"But this is a serious mental illness. We both witnessed his mood swing, and it isn't normal at all. He often got mad even in small things," Kendra said worriedly. She once read a book and knew a little about some mental illness. She could easily identify that Lendon has one of those illnesses.
"I am trying to control his condition. You know, since you cooperated with me to deal with him, he is far better now than before," Alexis explained. No one knew how crazy Lendon was before except him and Curtis. They saw Lendon during those severe poison attacks on his body, and it's fatal.
"Is he better now?" Kendra asked doubtfully and couldn't believe what she heard from Alexis.
"Yeah, I can testify that his condition got better than before, " Alexis explained as he walked back to his working table, putting the Tupper down.
Kendra sighed, "Okay, I will leave now. Have that soup while it's still warm,"
"Thank you for this one," Alexis smile and wave his hand, looking at Kendra's fading back.
After Kendra left the lab, she went to the hospital. Along the way, she wondered what Lendon did before he met her. Did he kill people? She somehow believed he must have killed someone before. She shook her head momentarily. After a few minutes, she heard the driver's voice telling her they arrived. She quickly jumped out of the car and went straight to Lendon's room.
"What are you thinking about?" Lendon's mood changed when he found Kendra was absent-minded.
"Nothing. Here." Kendra shook her head and gave an apple to Lendon.
"I don't want it." Lendon snorted.
"Fine, I will eat it." Ignoring his tantrum, she decided to eat it instead.
"You!" Lendon glared at Kendra, "Don't you know how to take care of a patient? You're always making me angry,"
"You deserve to get sick," She murmured. She was so pissed off when he acted like this.
"I still felt bad for Alexis, you beat him badly," She suddenly uttered.
"You still think about him?" Lendon asked unhappily, "Kendra, can you tell me? Do you like him?"
"What the hell?" Kendra rolled her eyes. "Are you serious? Here we go again!"
"You'd better not, or I will kill him once I get back to the castle." Lendon threatened her.
"He is your doctor. It would be best if you let him cure your poison first. If you kill him, no one could help you anymore," Kendra snapped back.
"I don't care," Lendon said sullenly.
Kendra shook her head and sighed. Surely, Lendon was different from others. She shouldn't talk with him anymore, or he could get angry again.
After a while, Kendra felt bored and checked her phone. She suddenly saw many anonymous messages that came from unknown numbers. They all looked humiliating.
As Kendra felt confused, someone called her.
"Hello." Her voice rang.
"How can you be so shameless? You are so young, and you decide to be a mistress. I divorced my husband because of people like you. Don't let me know where you are, or I will kill you." A woman cursed and hung up immediately.
Kendra didn't know what happened and stared at her phone.
"What's happening?" Lendon noticed Kendra's face turned pale.
"I don't know. Someone called me," Kendra was in a daze.
Someone called her again.
"Hello." She quickly answered it.
"Are you Kendra Miller?"
"Yes, who is that?" Kendra pacing in front of Lendon.
"You don't need to know who I am. You are a bitch. Your parents shouldn't give birth to you."
"What are you talking about?" Kendra almost yelled. How did this woman know her name and dare to say nasty words?
"Stop pretending! We all know your secret not. Be careful. God will punish you!"
Kendra was totally shocked. What happened? Why did they call to curse her? Mistress? Did that post appear again?
Ten minutes passed, and Kendra got several crank calls. They all cursed her and even threatened to kill her. Kendra's face turned gloomy. She didn't dare to answer her phone anymore.
"What's wrong? Can you please tell me what it is all about?" Lendon stared at Kendra, asked impatiently. He didn't realize that he was worried about her.
Kendra shook her head and bit her lips.
"Look at me, Kendra! Say it!" Lendon ordered.
Kendra raised her head up slowly and said, "I am fine." She even smiled.
"Don't smile. You look not fine at all." Lendon knew she lied. He turned to Curtis, who stood near them, "Curtis, find out what happened and who called her."
Bowing his head, "Right away, My Lord,"
