Chapter 58: It Was A Plan

Lucy was approaching her with a defiant face and said, "I didn't see your arrival earlier. How did you come in?" Lucy asked.
When Kendra walked in, Lucy was with Bianca, so she didn't notice her.
"I come here alone," Kendra answered calmly and wanted to walk away.
However, Lucy stopped her. "What's your purpose for coming here tonight? Do you want to ruin this party? I have to remind you that this engagement is very important to your father. I would leave here now if I were you." Lucy warned her.
Kendra clenched her fists and tried to control her anger.
"If you don't leave now, I will call the security to chase you out," Lucy said and clapped her hands.
"You!" Kendra felt so angry.
"She is my guest." A voice rang from behind.
Kendra looked ahead and saw Michael walking towards them. She was surprised that Michael saved her.
"Michael, the party is going to begin soon. Why don't you prepare yourself?" Lucy's face suddenly changed, and she wore the best smile before glancing at Michael.
"There is nothing to prepare." Michael ignored Lucy and stared at Kendra.
Lucy noticed Michael's eyesight and warned him, "Michael, don't forget your fiancee is Bianca."
"Excuse me, can you leave us alone?" Michael glared at Lucy and motioned his hand to let Lucy leave them alone.
"You..." Lucy didn't expect that Michael would be so impolite, so she said, "Michael, you'd better remember who you are." She glared at Kendra before she sprinted.
"Thank you." Kendra nodded to Michael once Lucy had gone.
Michael said nothing. He just stared at her. She should have been the one standing next to him right now.
"Congratulations." Kendra smiled and greeted him.
"Kendra," Michael uttered her name.
"What?" She waited for his next word.
"Nothing." Michael looked away with a bitter smile. How can he tell him that he's not happy with this engagement?
Kendra could feel that Michael was not happy. She remembered what he said last time. Did he really not want to marry Bianca? But what was the difference between Bianca and her? Kendra couldn't understand it. Her half-sister is beautiful too as most people admired her.
"Do you come here alone?" Michael asked.
"No, I..."
"Miss Kendra, Miss Bianca wants to see you." A waiter suddenly appeared and interrupted them.
"She wants to see me?" Kendra asked doubtfully.
"Yes, please follow me." The waiter said politely.
"Okay." Kendra nodded. She said goodbye to Michael and left with the waiter.
Michael stared at Kendra's back and frowned.
The waiter led Kendra to an empty VIP room.
"Where is Bianca?" Kendra asked confusedly. She turned around, only to find that the waiter had gone and the door was closed. She realized that she was tricked.
Kendra rushed to the door and tried to open it, but she failed. Someone wanted her to come here and locked her up. It was a plan.
"Open the door!" Kendra strived hard to knock on the door and shouted.
"Sorry, Miss Kendra. Mr. Miller said you need to stay here until the party ends." The waiter said outside the door.
It was Robert!
"Let me out. Let me out." Kendra slammed the door again and even shouted loudly this time.
"Miss Miller, please don't waste your time. We will let you out when the party's over." The waiter's voice rang again, then he left.
Did Robert think that she would ruin the party? So he locked her up? But Robert didn't know that this party would be over immediately if Lendon couldn't find her. Kendra felt so worried and walked around the room. What should she do now? She didn't take her phone, and she couldn't contact anyone? Should she just wait for the party to end?
"What should I do?" Kendra murmured and walked to a window. She looked up and found it was so high. If she climbed up, she would fall down. Kendra sat on a chair helplessly and still thinking of a way to escape this room.
It was only about ten minutes before the party began. When Robert got to know that Kendra had been locked up, he finally felt relieved.
Marga noticed Robert's uncomfortable behavior and asked curiously, "What's up, Robert?"
"Kendra is here," Robert said, anxiety filled his face.
"What?" Marga almost screamed when she heard that Kendra had come.
"It's fine. I have locked her up. She can do nothing." Robert assured her.
"What?" Marga asked, "Where is she now?"
"Inside a VIP room. I have told someone that Kendra can't leave that room until the party is over. Don't worry." Robert patted Marga's back softly to comfort her.
"What is she doing here?" Marga said in anger, "Does she want to destroy this engagement? How dare she?"
"Forget it. The party is going to begin soon. Where are Bianca and Michael?" Robert looked around, searching for the two people.
"They are waiting behind the stage. When the music starts, they will come out immediately." Marga smiled proudly. Her dream will be about to happen.
Lendon left with Curtis just an hour ago because he had to talk to some high officials. When he came back, Kendra was gone.
"Where is Kendra?" Lendon asked gloomily. He seemed a little annoyed.
"I don't know, sir," Curtis answered quickly. He had been staying with Lendon, so he didn't know where Kendra had gone.
"Find her!" Lendon coldly roared.
Curtis nodded and started looking for Kendra right away.
Kendra had been locked for more than half an hour, but she still couldn't find a way out. She paced back and forth wearily and happened to see the smoke detector above her head. Suddenly, she came up with an idea and jumped up excitedly. "Yes, that's the way!" She smiled triumphantly.
Kendra checked every corner of the room and finally found a piece of paper and a lighter. She burned the paper immediately and chanted, "Please. Please, burn quickly."
After a few seconds, the paper was burning with heavy smoke. Kendra quickly stood on a chair and held a burning paper towards the smoke detector. Soon, the alarm rang, and water sprayed immediately. Indeed, Kendra got wet. But as expected, a few waiters rushed in with fire extinguishers and shouted in panic, "Why there's a sudden fire?"
Kendra jumped down from the chair and rushed out immediately. She must be quick. If Lendon found out she disappeared, it will be troublesome. As Kendra almost ran back to the hall, she heard a loud noise. Someone was smashing things while people were screaming. Kendra could tell it was a big chaos.
Ouch! She was late. Kendra stood outside and hall and looked inside. Surely, Lendon was standing on the stage, and his bodyguards were smashing the hall. He looked so cruel and horrible.
Robert and William were shocked by Lendon's sudden anger.
Bianca was afraid, and beads of sweat oozed on her forehead.
"Tell me where Kendra is." Lendon stared at Robert horribly. He was like a menacing evil ready to devour him.
"Mr. Martin, please don't be angry. I...I..." Robert spoke with hesitation.
Lendon had lost his patience. He jumped down from the stage and grabbed Robert's collar. "Can't you understand my words?" He glared at Robert and asked.
"Mr. Martin, do we have a misunderstanding here?" William stood straight and meddled, "Maybe Miss Miller just went to the Lady's room."
"Shut up!" Lendon shouted in anger, "I will say this one last time. Give Kendra back, or..."
"Lendon!" Kendra walked into the hall and interrupted him.
In an instant, everyone looked at her. She didn't look good. Her dress was wet, and her hair was unkempt.
Kendra ignored all the people's disgusting glare. She walked to Lendon and grabbed his hand. "I am fine." She smiled at him.
"You are okay?" Wearing a concerned face, Lendon stared at her, "Who did this to you?" He pushed Robert away.
"It's just an accident." Kendra lowered her head and said, "Let's go."
Lendon looked Kendra up and down. He noticed that Kendra's dress was a little transparent after being wet. What the hell!
Kendra could feel clearly that Lendon was getting angrier. Finally, she grabbed his hand tightly and begged, "Please. Let's go home," If they didn't leave now, she would become a laughing stock.
Lendon clenched his fists. He knew she lied. He took his coat off and put it on to her to cover her body. He helped Kendra wear the coat properly and asked, "Is it Robert who did it?" His bodyguards confirmed that Kendra was taken away. It must be Robert.
"I..." Kendra hesitated and looked at her father.
Robert glared at Kendra and seemed to threaten her.
Lendon's eyes flew to Robert, and he suddenly sneered at him.
Robert was frightened. Lendon was too terrifying this time.
"Mr. Martin, this is just a misunderstanding," Robert explained with an awkward smile. He looked at Kendra and hoped that she would say something to help him.
"A misunderstanding?" Lendon mocked him, "You locked your daughter and called it a misunderstanding? I suppose you don't know what a misunderstanding means."
Robert lowered his head and trembled.
No one dared to make any noise.
