Chapter 74: What Should She Do?
She remained silent and couldn't find words to say. She was overwhelmed by Anne's revelation. If this was true, she needed to give justice to her mom.
"Miss Miller, do you remember that after Mrs. Miller passed away, Mr. Miller sent you to your' grandparents'. As a matter of fact, he didn't intend to bring you back. However, Mrs. Miller's testament had your name, so he had no other choice but to take you back." Anne told her, staring at her with sadness.
"What?" Kendra raised her head and stared back at Anne, "How do you know that?" Kendra couldn't really accept the truth.
"All Mrs. Miller's servants knew the truth. Marga argued with Mr. Miller for days about whether they should bring you back or not. But at the end, they still have to follow the testament policy," Anne said without blinking. She has to tell what she knew.
Kendra felt so shocked and didn't know what to say. She didn't expect that Robert wanted to abandon her from the beginning.
"She is your daughter, not my daughter. Look at her! I wouldn't raise her if not for money."
"Kendra, you are a bitch."
Kendra recalled a little memory of her past. No wonder Marga hated her for years. It turned out that it was all for money.
"Miss Miller," Anne heaved a deep sigh, "I know you must be sad. I wouldn't tell you if they didn't kick you out from that house,"
"Thank you, Anne. If it were not for you, I would never know the truth. That will be really sad for me. I took the person who killed my mom as my father for years." Kendra almost burst into tears.
"But we don't have evidence. We could do nothing about it even if I told you everything." Anne sighed.
No evidence? Yes, she knew the truth now, but she couldn't prove it at all... Kendra thought for a while and said, "It was years ago. It must be hard for us to find evidence. But I think we can start from Lily." Kendra suddenly came up with an idea and thought about her plan.
"Miss Miller, do you want to deal with Lily?" Anne frowned and asked worriedly, "You know how scheming she is. It will be dangerous. Are you sure you can deal with her?"
"Now that I know the truth, I have to do it. Don't worry. I will be fine. Marga knows Lendon will protect me. She won't dare to hurt me." Kendra patted Anne's shoulder, reassuring her.
"But..."
"Don't worry. I will be careful. I need to find some clues first." Kendra smiled to make Anne feel comfortable. "Lendon is with me, don't worry about it,"
"Okay, I believe you. If Mr. Martin helped you, that would be great. It would be best if you sleep now. Good night!"
Anne left after a while.
It was late at night. The moonlight shone into the bedroom. Kendra stared at the ceiling and couldn't fall asleep. She lay in Lendon's arms and turned around to look at him. Was it possible for her to get an interceptor from him? Maybe Lendon couldn't get this device easily, either. Should she tell him the truth? But she didn't have evidence now. The fewer people knew about it, the better. What should she do?
Suddenly, Lendon opened his eyes and looked into Kendra's eyes.
Kendra was frightened. She thought Lendon had fallen asleep already. Why did he wake up suddenly?
"Why were you staring at me?" Lendon glared at Kendra and asked.
"I thought you slept already. Why..." Kendra looked away and explained.
"My instinct told me that you were looking at me." Lendon pulled her closer. He seemed sober now.
His instinct? Did men also have this thing? Kendra felt awkward and said, "I can't sleep, so I want to appreciate your face." Maybe she stayed too long with Lendon. That was why she also became thick-skinned now.
"Your taste is improving." Lendon rubbed Kendra's nose and smiled.
Kendra also smiled sweetly.
"Time to sleep now. You can look at me tomorrow." Lendon held Kendra's waist tightly.
Kendra couldn't calm down. She lay in Lendon's arms, but her mind was wandering.
No one said a word for a moment. The room was so quiet.
After a while, Kendra looked at him and called his name faintly.
"What?" Lendon opened his eyes again.
"You are still up?" Kendra asked in surprise.
"I am thinking of something," A naughty smile formed at the corner of his mouth.
"About what?" Kendra asked confusedly.
"If I should touch you now." Lendon blatantly whispered in her ear. Kendra rolled her eyes. There he goes again. What a pervert! She thought in silence.
"Lendon, I need a favor," Kendra said after hesitating for seconds.
"What?" Lendon whispered.
"I need an interceptor." Kendra casually answered back.
Lendon frowned and pushed Kendra away. He stared at her in darkness and waited for her explanation.
"Don't misunderstand. I just doubt..." Kendra wanted to explain.
"Are you suspecting me?" Lendon frowned.
"What?" Kendra asked confusedly.
"Since you came here, I kicked all the women out inside the castle. So except for my secretaries, I don't see other women, basically. If you are not satisfied, I can tell Curtis to fire my secretaries tomorrow." Lendon said seriously.
"No, it's not about you." Kendra realized what Lendon meant with a weak smile.
"Then who is it? Another man?" Lendon quickly got jealous, "Kendra, if you cheated on me, I won't forgive you. Remember that!"
"No, it's not what you think." Kendra sighed and explained, "I think my stepmother is up to something recently. I don't feel good, so I want to investigate her."
"You think she will hurt you?" Lendon's voice suddenly turned soft.
"Yes." She had to make an excuse.
"I will deal with her then. Don't bother to think about her, she's not worthy of your time," Lendon said casually. He got used to dealing with problems in the most direct way.
Anyway, there was no need to be merciful. He didn't think Marga could hurt Kendra under his protection. He will not allow anyone to harm his woman. He will kill them.
"No, you know she is Bianca's mother, I can't risk any possibility that could make my sister sad. I need to know something. Lendon, can't you get an interceptor for me?" Kendra lowered her head, felt sad.
"Of course, I can! I can get everything for you." Lendon smiled and pinched her cheek.
"Can you do me a favor then?" Kendra held his hand.
"I can, but I need something in exchange for the favor," Lendon raised his eyebrows, pointed his lips.
Kendra knew what Lendon meant. She raised her body and kissed him.
"Not enough." Lendon flipped their position and pressed Kendra onto the bed.
It was another passionate night for them. The room was filled with sweet moans coming from them.
The following day, Kendra got her interceptor. She went to the Miller household. As she arrived, she told the driver to wait for her. Then, she jumped out of the car alone.
"Miss Miller, shall I go with you?" The driver wore a worried face.
"No, you just stay here." Kendra shook her head. She was sure that if she brought someone with her, she can't go inside.
Kendra walked to the gate and pressed the doorbell.
Soon, a maid came out. When she saw Kendra standing at the gate, she was surprised to see Kendra again, "Miss Miller, why are you here?"
"I want to visit my father," Kendra said and walked in.
"Mr. Miller just left the hospital yesterday. He is resting in his room now." The maid followed her.
There was no one in the living room. "Where are Marga and Bianca?" Kendra asked curiously.
"They went out just now. Maybe they will be back soon." The maid answered.
"Okay." Kendra nodded and walked upstairs.
"Miss Miller, you..." The maid tried to stop her.
"It's fine. I just want to see my father." Kendra ignored the maid and continue her pace.
The maid called Marga immediately. Kendra walked to Robert's room and knocked on the door.
Robert was reading a book. And when he heard the knock, he invited the person to get in, "Come in."
"Dad." Kendra pushed open the door and greeted her father.
Robert was surprised to see Kendra slipped in. But the next second, he showed an indifferent manner, "What are you doing here?"
"Dad, how do you feel now?" Kendra ignored Robert's attitude and asked.
"Don't call me dad." Robert closed his book and snorted. He couldn't bear to see Kendra.
"Dad, about the party..." Kendra sat down at Robert's bedside.
"Shut up!" Robert glanced at her, his face was gloomy, "Please leave here. You shouldn't have come. I am sorry for the party. I shouldn't piss you off and offend Lendon Martin."
"Don't say that, dad." Kendra lowered her head and clenched her fists. She grabbed her clothes and pretended to be guilty. But if Robert looked into Kendra's eyes now, he would find how cold Kendra's eyes were.
"Kendra, I beg you. I raised you up, and I don't want you to pay me back. Just don't ever come to us again." Robert stared at her, trying to beg her. His deep hatred for Kendra could be easily noticed.
Kendra glanced at the night table and said nothing.
"Since you feel better, I can relax now." Kendra stood up immediately, "Take care." As she turned around, she knocked down a vase accidentally. Kendra held it immediately and said, "It almost fell down!" Then, she put it back and left.
Robert just frowned and remained silent. Kendra walked out and closed the door for Robert. Before she did that, she looked at the vase again. Would Robert suspect her behavior? She just put the interceptor under the vase. She hoped that she could find something.
Kendra took a deep breath and walked downstairs.
At that time, Marga and Bianca came back. "Why are you here?" Marga asked.
As soon as they entered the living room, they saw Kendra descend. Lily's face contorted, all her adrenaline rushed to her head, seeing Kendra smiling at her.
"Hello, Lily. I just came here to see dad." Kendra greeted her stepmother politely.
Marga stared at Kendra doubtfully, "Dad? Who is your dad? Robert has nothing to do with you. Just leave here now. I don't want to see you."
"Mom," Bianca meddled immediately, "Don't be so rude. Kendra hasn't come back for a long time. Be nice, please. She has the right to visit our father,"
"Am I rude to her? She ruined your engagement party! Now Michael even canceled your engagement. Shouldn't I kick her out?" Marga glared at her daughter, then her eyes flew back to Kendra, "I would kill you if I could. How arrogant of you to visit here?"
