Chapter 52: Do You Blame Me?

She writhed as she peeked into the meeting room. The people with Lendon turned their heads in her direction, curiosity written on their faces.
"Come in!" Lendon stared at her through the glass door and ordered her to proceed.
Looking into Lendon's eyes, Kendra somehow felt uneasy.
Other people in the meeting room all looked at her confusedly.
Kendra couldn't move her body because she was too nervous. In fact, she regretted dashing here without even thinking. She was too impulsive just now. What should she do as all eyes were on her?
"Come in." Lendon's voice came again. He got impatient as he threw a glance at her hesitating reaction.
Curtis took the initiative to open the door for Kendra and invited her to walk in.
Kendra took a deep breath and walked in with a smile. "Mr. Martin, I just..."
"Curtis, get a chair for her." Lendon interrupted Kendra and held her hand while looking at his files.
Kendra didn't want to sit next to Lendon, but she had no choice as the atmosphere inside the meeting room suddenly became quiet.
"What did you say?" Lendon glanced at the manager, who's reporting something earlier, and got interrupted as Kendra walked in.
The manager calmed down and continued his report. For god's sake, who was this girl?
Kendra felt so strange and uncomfortable that she couldn't sit straight.
"Don't move." Lendon suddenly said, glanced at her again.
Again, everyone stared at Kendra. This time, Kendra didn't dare to move at all. She fell silent during the entire meeting and finally realized her abrupt action wasn't good. She shouldn't have come here. Lendon said nothing during the meeting. Instead, he just focused on rubbing Kendra's fingers. Anyway, he did what he always wanted to do. What was worse, when a manager made a presentation, Lendon noticed Kendra's absence and kissed her lips in front of everyone. She wanted to dig a hole and hide herself.
All managers pretended not to see what Lendon was doing, and all stared at the screen. Kendra doubted if Lendon's staff were all blind.
The meeting finally ended. Managers rushed out of the meeting room within one second, and there were only the two of them that left.
"You seem to be getting clingy. I can't leave you for a while." Lendon smiled with satisfaction. He felt happy that Kendra made the initiative to come to him.
Kendra wanted to explain but don't know how to start.
"Let's go." Lendon stood up and held Kendra's hand.
Kendra looked at him and didn't move at all.
"What's up?" Lendon asked, puzzled.
"We need to talk." Kendra hesitated and quickly put the necklace on the desk, "You should take it back."
"What do you mean?" Lendon's smile suddenly disappeared, face darkened as he stared at her.
"I just knew why you gave me this necklace. Last night..."
"You don't want to accept it?" Lendon interrupted her, gradually clenching his jaw.
"I can't. I..." Kendra stuttered, don't know how to explain her thoughts. She could feel Lendon's anger already.
"Kendra!" Lendon lost his patience and bent down, voice threatening, "Listen to me. I never take back what I give."
"But..."
"There is no but…."
Kendra felt so helpless. It was meaningless to try to persuade such an arrogant and irritable man. She would never succeed.
"Let's have lunch now," Lendon said and dragged Kendra to his office.
Lendon and Kendra sat opposite each other while Curtis stood beside them. It was so quiet that even Curtis felt embarrassed.
Kendra didn't know what to say. And Lendon was not in a good mood.
Curtis, of course, didn't say anything as he could tell Lendon was mad.
When they finished lunch, Lendon pulled Kendra into his bedroom and closed the door.
"Sleep," Lendon said coldly and took his coat off, forcing Kendra to lie on the bed.
Kendra struggled at first, but as she struggled, Lendon grabbed her hand more tightly. Finally, Kendra could only give up. After a while, she really fell asleep. When she woke up, Lendon was not in the room.
Kendra got up and touched her neck. The necklace was on her neck again. It seemed that Lendon didn't want to take it back. Kendra sat down on the bed, feeling disappointed. What the hell is going on with him? Lendon really fell in love with her? How is it possible? Kendra laid on the bed again and felt annoyed.
At that time, Kendra's phone rang up. She found her phone under the pillow and saw Bianca's incoming call.
"Hello, Bianca." Kendra picked her phone up. She hadn't seen Bianca for a long time.
"Where are you, Kendra?" Bianca's voice rang on the other end.
"What's up?" She jumped down the bed, walked to the nearby couch, and sat down.
"I want to talk to you." Bianca hesitated for a while and said.
"Is it about Michael?" Kendra queried.
"Yes. I... I am going to engage with Michael." Bianca's voice came in a low tone.
It was not surprising for Kendra. Instead, she knew it would happen. However, when Kendra really heard it, she still felt heartbroken. It was not about Michael. She and Bianca were both daughters of Robert Miller, but he threw her away from their home. Why did he show more love to Bianca than her? She is his first daughter, yet Robert had no compassion for her.
"Kendra?" Bianca asked, "Do you blame me?"
"No, I feel happy for you. Michael is a good man." Kendra said sincerely. She always believed that what belonged to her would always belong to her. Similarly, she would never want anything that didn't belong to her.
"Really?" Bianca said sadly, "I know you should be Michael's wife, but I can't disobey their words."
"Bianca, I know. It's all right." Kendra said. She knew Bianca didn't have a choice. As a daughter of the Miller family, she must marry Michael.
Hearing Kendra's words, Bianca felt so sad and cried. "I am so sorry." She apologized immediately.
"Don't cry. You will get a good husband. You should feel happy." Kendra comforted Bianca and also felt sad.
"Thank you for your understanding," Bianca said.
"When will you try on your wedding dress? I can go with you." Kendra changed their topic and sounded happy.
"Really?" Bianca stopped crying and asked excitedly.
"Yes, I am free these days." Kendra chimed.
"How about today? I am also free now." Bianca thought for seconds and suggested.
"Today?" Kendra said, "No problem."
"Thank you so much, Kendra," Bianca said gratefully.
"It's not necessary. I am your sister." Kendra said and checked the time, "Send me the address, and I will be right there."
"Okay, I will wait for you," Bianca said and hung up.
Kendra looked at her phone and felt a little upset. She took a deep breath and opened the door. Lendon was not in the office. As she walked out, someone stopped her.
"Where are you going, Miss Miller?" A secretary stood outside the door and asked politely.
"I need to use the bathroom." Kendra found an excuse and wanted to sneak out.
"Miss Miller, there is a bathroom inside the office." The secretary was giving her a doubtful look.
"It's broken." Kendra lied again, "You can check it if you want."
The secretary walked into the office doubtfully and said, "How is that possible? The constructor used the best equipment to build this building,"
Kendra closed the door and left immediately after the secretary walked in. She finally got out of the Martin Group. She felt so tired of staying with Lendon all day. She needed to breathe some fresh air.
After a couple of minutes, Bianca sent Kendra an address. Kendra hailed a taxi and told the driver the exact address.
At that time, the secretary walked out of the bathroom and said, "It's not broken, Miss Miller. You might get mistaken," As she saw there was no one inside the office, she finally realized that Kendra lied to her. Damn! If Mr. Martin knew she let Miss Miller leave, she would be fired. What should she do? Suddenly, the secretary came up with an idea. She walked into the bedroom and made the bed, putting the pillow properly, and covered it with a quilt, making it look like Kendra was still sleeping on the bed. She hopes Mr. Martin will not discover what she had done.
As the secretary walked out of the bedroom, Lendon came back.
"Mr. Martin." The secretary greeted Lendon nervously.
"Where is Kendra?" Lendon asked.
"Miss Miller is still sleeping." The secretary answered.
"Is she?" Lendon glanced at her.
"Yes." The secretary lowered her head, trembling at this moment.
Lendon didn't doubt her answer. On the contrary, he thought Kendra must be too tired last night.
"Don't wake her up. Send reports to the meeting room." Lendon said and left.
"Yes." The secretary felt relieved, as Lendon believed her.
Soon, Kendra arrived at the shop that Bianca had sent to her earlier. She walked in.
"Can I help you?" A shop assistant walked to Kendra, wearing a big smile.
"I am looking for someone." Kendra smiled back and quickly saw Bianca.
Bianca was wearing a fishtail dress, hair tied in a bun. She stood in front of a mirror and chatted with the designer.
"Nice dress." Kendra walked to Bianca and said.
"Here you are, Kendra." Bianca turned around and said happily.
"Have you already chosen your dress?" Kendra smiled and asked.
"Not yet. I just tried on my first dress. Come." Bianca pointed to a row of dresses and said, "Help me."
"You look good in this dress." Kendra picked one from the row.
"But it is too big. The designer said he needed time to fix it. But my engagement party is next week." Bianca frowned and told her with a sad tone.
"So soon?" Kendra asked surprisingly. It seemed that their father was making it urgent.
"Yes, so I need a perfect dress. Unfortunately, I don't have much time. How does this one look?" Bianca picked another dress and asked.
"You can try it first," Kendra said.
"Okay," Bianca said and gave the dress to the assistant. Then, she walked into the fitting room.
Kendra looked at the dresses while waiting for her sister.
Soon, the door of the fitting room opened.
"You are so fast." Kendra thought it was Bianca and joked. However, when she looked up at the person who walked out, she was shocked. It was Michael!
