Chapter 76: So You Like To Stay With Me?
Startled, Kendra turned the app off immediately and asked, "Who is that?"
"Miss Miller, Mr. Martin is ready. He is waiting for you downstairs." A maid's voice rang outside her door.
Kendra took a deep breath and recalled that she agreed to go camping with Lendon today. She coughed and said, "Okay, I know," Kendra looked at her phone and sighed.
She had to listen to the recording next time. So Kendra went downstairs and got in the car.
This time, Lendon and her would go alone.
Curtis chose the place for them. He said it has beautiful scenery.
Kendra looked outside the window and was lost in thought. She wondered what Marga would say next.
"You are absent-minded again." Lendon patted Kendra's head soon as he noticed her silence.
"What's up?" Kendra glanced at Lendon and asked.
"Do you feel bored already?" Lendon glared at Kendra, annoyed by her reaction.
"No, it is fun." Kendra shook her head and said, "Look, there is a bird on the tree!" She tried to make him laugh.
"Kendra."
"What?"
"Don't embarrass yourself." Lendon glanced at Kendra and said.
Lendon was really hard to handle sometimes.
"You don't like to stay with me, don't you?" Lendon wore a gloomy face.
"No!" Kendra denied right away. How would he say that when she agreed to be with him on this adventure?
"So you like to stay with me?" Lendon asked again.
Kendra felt speechless. Why was Lendon so stubborn?
"Lendon, there is also gray except for black and white," Kendra explained patiently.
"Why did you change the subject suddenly?" Lendon glared at Kendra and asked.
"No, I didn't." Kendra shook her head again.
"I felt annoyed!" Lendon said unhappily.
Fine, it was hard to communicate with Lendon this time. They didn't say anything else all the way. When they arrived, Kendra got off and was surprised by the beautiful scenery.
There was green grassland beside the river, and the air was so fresh.
Kendra ran around the river and back to Lendon. "It is beautiful!" She looks so happy.
"Do you like it here?" Lendon slipped his hands on his trouser. He was staring at the little woman who seemed so happy.
"Yes!" Kendra answered happily. She always preferred quiet and peaceful places.
Seeing Kendra being so happy, Lendon smiled and couldn't take his eyes off her. "Okay, enough for playing. Let's bring things here first." Lendon pointed at the car and said after a while.
"You want me to do it?" Kendra was stunned when she realized that Lendon wanted her to carry all the things.
"Of course." Lendon teases her. He couldn't be a porter himself.
Kendra thought they just came out to enjoy the view. She didn't imagine she needed to work!
"Damn! Who will let a girl carry luggage? He is not gentle at all! Damn!" Kendra cursed him faintly as she carried things out of the car.
Soon, Kendra took everything out and said, "Oh my god! It's really tiring!" She leaned against the car and wiped her sweats. Suddenly, she noticed that Lendon was standing next to the river, picking up a few stones and throwing them on the water surface.
Kendra felt so upset and said, "Damn! Damn!" She was so tired, and Lendon was just playing?
"Kendra, come here!" Lendon waved hands to Kendra and shouted.
"What's up?" She walked to Lendon and asked. What else did she need to do?
"Let's compete," Lendon said excitedly.
"What?" Kendra asked confusedly.
"Let's see who can throw the stone farther. Are you in?" Lendon asked him.
"I am in. What if you lose?" Kendra raised her eyebrows and asked.
"We need to pitch tents and cook dinner later. Who loses this game needs to do all the things. Okay?" Lendon smiled and said.
"Okay, don't regret it!" Kendra stared at him and uttered excitedly. She can't let this opportunity pass.
"You'd better remember what you say now." Lendon rubbed Kendra's cheek and gently pinched.
"Okay, you go first. We will play three rounds." Kendra urges him while she's picking some stones.
"No problem." Lendon agreed immediately. He picked some stone up and threw it away confidently. It ended far away.
"It's your turn." Lendon looked at Kendra and said. He bet Kendra couldn't win.
Kendra had her first try, and surprisingly, her stone went even farther than Lendon! Kendra jumped up and smiled happily. Lendon got annoyed and stared at Kendra.
"Who taught you how to do this?" He snorted.
Hearing Lendon's question, Kendra's smile froze immediately.
"Kendra, I will only show you one time. Watch me carefully. You need to grab the stone tightly and wave your arms. Then, you just use all your strength and throw it away. Good job!"
Kendra recalled what the boy told her when they were children and almost cried. She still remembered everything he said, but he was nowhere to be found.
"What are you thinking about?" Lendon glared at Kendra and asked. What was wrong with Kendra recently? She was absent-minded frequently these days. Did she keep ignoring him?
"Nothing." Kendra smiled and said, "You lost just now. We still have two rounds. You can't win."
"I won't lose." Lendon walked to Kendra and said.
"Let's see." Kendra smiled at him. Confident that she can win this game.
Lendon glared at Kendra and tried again. It was better than last time. Kendra looked at Lendon's back and was lost in thought.
"It's your turn," Lendon said. But this time, Kendra didn't make a perfect throw.
"I win. You only have one last chance now." Lendon leaned against Kendra's shoulder and said proudly.
"I know." Kendra glanced at Lendon and said.
Lendon smiled and picked a stone up. He had his last try. "Nice!" Lendon shouted excitedly. He got Kendra picked a stone up and concentrated. She told herself that she couldn't lose. Soon, she closed her eyes and threw them away. Wow! She had better results than Lendon! She won!
Kendra screamed happily. She couldn't believe she made it.
She ran around Lendon and shouted, "Yeah! "I win! I don't need to cook dinner! I don't need to pitch the tent! Nice!" Kendra laughed out like a child.
Lendon looked at her and smiled. He didn't know that he looked like a father who spoiled his daughter.
"Go, go, go! It's time for you to work for me!" Kendra pushed Lendon and said.
Lendon felt so helpless. For the first time, he lost to a woman. But why did he feel so satisfied?
"Go!" Kendra urged.
"Wait!" Lendon suddenly halted his pace and said, "We didn't say that I can't ask for help. Right?"
"What? Do you want to cheat?" Kendra couldn't believe what she heard.
"Of course not." Lendon pinched Kendra's cheek. He shrugged his shoulders and made a phone call. Soon, a group of cooks came, and within 10 minutes, they prepared everything.
Kendra was so speechless. How could Lendon be so shameless?
"Come, let's have a barbecue party," Lendon held Kendra's hand proudly and dragged her towards those people who set up the barbecue party. He led her to the grill.
"Can you do a simple barbecue?" Kendra looked to Lendon and asked curiously.
"No." Lendon shook his head and said frankly.
"Why do you tell them to leave?" Kendra sneered and asked. Now, who could do the barbecue for them?
"They will disturb us." Lendon stared at Kendra and said, seriously.
Kendra rolled her eyes. She was being tricked by him.
"I can have a try," Lendon said. However, he looked at all the tools and frowned. He didn't know what to do at all.
"I thought you didn't know how to barbecue. I don't want dark cooking!" Kendra smiled and said. She looked Lendon up and down curiously.
"Don't look down upon me." Lendon patted Kendra's head and said. He took his phone out and googled. After a few minutes, he said, "Okay, I know what to do. Help me out."
"Really?" Kendra asked unbelievably. "Your man is a genius," Lendon said proudly.
"Okay. You can try now. I need to take a break." Kendra was about to leave, but suddenly he stopped her.
"Wait!" Lendon stretched his hands out and said, "Help me roll up my sleeves."
"Okay." Kendra lowered her head and tidied sleeves for Lendon.
Lendon looked at her and somehow felt strange. When he saw Kendra focused on him, it felt so different. After a second, Lendon couldn't control himself. He pulled Kendra into his arms and kissed her lips immediately.
Kendra was shocked by his abrupt movement. It was late for her to react.
"Open your mouth." Lendon's voice suddenly came in.
"What?"
"Open your mouth!"
"Okay."
After a while, Lendon finally let go of her. He was so happy that they shared this sweet moment.
Kendra sat next to Lendon and watched him unskillfully picking up the ingredients and seasonings, preparing for barbecue. Surprisingly, Kendra had to admit that Lendon got familiar soon. After a while, Kendra could smell the delicious meat and sighed, "It smells delicious!"
"I want to have a try." Kendra walked to Lendon and said.
"Kiss me," Lendon said and pointed to his cheek.
Kendra glanced at Lendon and didn't kiss him. Suddenly, she took a string of beef and ran away quickly.
"I got it!" She shouted and smiled happily.
Lendon smiled at her naughty behavior. Since Kendra came to the castle, today may be her happiest day. It seemed that Curtis was right. If he continued to find chances to accompany Kendra, she would definitely fall in love with him.
"It tastes good!" Kendra sighed after she had a try.
