Chapter 69: I Won't Abandon You, Never
Kendra woke up early the following day. She walked into the bathroom and saw things they bought yesterday had already been in place. Hers was pink, and Lendon's was blue. For an instant, Kendra felt that she had been living with Lendon for years.
"Morning." Lendon held Kendra's waist and greeted her in a warm voice.
"Morning." She greeted back and felt his warmth.
Lendon grabbed Kendra's hand and suddenly licked her ear.
It seems that tiny butterflies were moving on her stomach, her desire was awakened, but she managed to suppress it, "Are you hungry? Time for breakfast." Kendra turned around and tried to escape from his embrace.
"I want to eat you." Lendon smiled naughtily.
What the hell? Last night he almost tortured her for the whole night, and he wanted to do it again now?
"I am hungry." Kendra blushed crimson. She was embarrassed to discuss something about it.
"Feed me first, and you can have breakfast," Lendon murmured and lowered his head, kissing Kendra passionately, which lead to morning lovemaking. And before Lendon let go of her, he was satisfied enough, and both of them were dead tired.
Half an hour later, Kendra walked out of the bathroom after taking a bath. She changed her clothes and went to the dining hall.
"Good morning, Miss Miller." Curtis greeted her with a pleasant smile.
"Morning."
As soon as Kendra sat down, Lendon went downstairs too. As usual, she needed to taste food for Lendon. Kendra felt she was like a mouse, tasting foods before giving them to him.
Soon, her phone rang. It was a reminder for a special occasion. Kendra stared at it for a long time.
"We will go to the beach on the weekend." Lendon casually informed her. He didn't notice Kendra's uncomfortable reaction.
"No." Kendra refused without hesitation.
"What? Why? And your reason?" Lendon's eyes flew towards her.
"I am not free," Kendra explained abruptly.
"Are you kidding me?" Lendon glared at her. His tone suddenly changed.
"My mom's death anniversary is coming." She looked back at him seriously and uttered.
"Your mom?"
"Yes."
Kendra put it on her phone so that it would remind her on this day yearly.
"I will go with you." Lendon wiped his mouth and casually answered.
"No, I can go on my own. I know you're busy," Kendra shook her head. Her mom's tomb was not near. It would take some time to reach that place.
"You don't want to take me to your mother?" Lendon cocked his eyebrows.
Here we go again. Kendra thought in silence. Kendra felt helpless. She just didn't want to bother him, yet he thought it wrongly. "I… I know you are busy. You don't have to go with me, really. I can manage alone," She gestured with her hands to dismiss his wrong perception.
"I have made up my mind." Lendon insisted. He pushed his empty plate, "Curtis, get ready for it."
"Yes, my Lord," Curtis nodded and hastily left to do what Lendon had ordered.
She couldn't argue anymore. Lendon is always the boss.
***
It was a rainy weekend. Kendra was worried and glanced at Lendon. "Lendon, the rain grew heavier. The way to my mom's tomb will be dangerous. So you'd better stay at home."
"Do you want to run away from me?" Lendon glared at her. He can't let her leave alone.
"No, I just..."
"Shut up!" Lendon grabbed Kendra's hand and dragged her, "Let's go."
The driver started off immediately.
Kendra had to give in. She wanted to stay on the mountain for two days this time.
On their way, Lendon always held her into his embrace. Kendra didn't refuse. She seemed to get used to this kind of behavior Lendon had showered at her, and she gave up struggling.
It took them four hours to get to their destination. When they finally arrived, it was at dusk.
The rain stopped, and all roads were muddy.
"Sir, there is no hotel nearby. We can only find some folk houses." Curtis quickly informed him.
"I know a house nearby. It is not as big as the castle, but we can stay there." Kendra looked at Lendon and asked him, "Shall we go?"
"I will go with you. I'm okay with that," He simply replied, gently patted her head.
"Okay." She jumped out of the car. She led them to that house.
Lendon quickly grabbed Kendra's waist and walked with her steadily.
For all these years, Kendra had always come here alone. But Lendon was with her today. Kendra somehow felt a bit happy. She suddenly raised her head, staring at the man who hugged her.
"Don't look at me like that. Focus." Lendon smiled.
Kendra blushed and looked away. The next second, she paid for her absence. She sprained her ankle suddenly and almost fell down.
"What's up?" Lendon asked nervously and quickly squatted down, looking at her quickly swollen ankle.
"I sprained my ankle." Her face contorted in pain.
"Are you okay, Miss Miller?" Curtis asked worriedly.
"I am fine. I can still walk." Kendra said, "Let's go. We are late."
Before she could move, Lendon carried her. "You're not okay!"
"Lendon!" Kendra was surprised by his sudden movement.
"Sir, let me help Miss Miller," Curtis suggested.
"Do you dare to touch her? She's my woman! No one is allowed to touch her," Lendon glared at Curtis. Then, he looked at Kendra and urged, "It's going late. How much longer do you want to waste?"
Curtis was lost for words. He knew this possessive side of his boss.
"I am heavy. Please put me down," Kendra, still blushing, can't bear to show so much affection in front of Lendon's people.
"Hurry up!" Lendon said impatiently.
Kendra had to give up and wrapped her arms around his neck. Lendon continued to walk soon.
Lendon's gesture touched Kendra, and her tears came out subconsciously. Memories of her childhood came flooding back to her mind, she always walked home through this path. A happy memory with her mom walking with her on this path, however, when her mom passed away, everything changed.
"Why do you suddenly cry?" Lendon asked vaguely. Kendra came back to reality and noticed that Lendon's shoulders were wet by her tears. "I miss my mom." She choked and answered.
"How did she pass away?" Lendon asked gently.
"It was a car accident," Kendra said. However, she was not willing to recall the accident because she became an orphan after that. Since then, Robert has totally changed his attitude towards her.
"You lived here when you were a child?" He uttered again.
"Nearby." Kendra said, "There was a farm here, and my mom liked it so much. When my dad went out for business, my mom would take me here and stay for a couple of days. I haven't been here for a year."
Those years, she would come in the morning and left at dusk. Lendon's question made Kendra recall her childhood, and she felt touched.
"Lendon, I haven't been carried by anyone for a long time." Kendra wailed like a baby. She leaned against Lendon's chest and could feel his warmth.
"You are so touched that you cry out?" Lendon tried to make her laugh.
Kendra smiled, and quickly wiped her tears. She rolled her eyes instantly.
"I will make you love me. I definitely will." Lendon said confidently.
"I don't deserve it," Kendra said naturally.
"I have to draw the conclusion," Lendon said arrogantly.
"Lendon, if you regret one day and want to abandon me, I won't blame you." Kendra raised her head, looking at him intently.
"I won't abandon you, never," A wonderful promise came out of his mouth.
Kendra didn't say anything. Instead, she buried her face on Lendon's chest and closed her eyes.
After a while, they finally reached the house Kendra had mentioned. It was a small cottage with simple but warm decorations.
Lendon stood in the yard and looked around. "How can we live here? It is so small." He commented.
"We don't have anywhere else to go." Kendra patted Lendon's shoulder, smiled. "Put me down."
"No, I will carry you inside." Lendon refused.
"My Lord," Curtis's voice interrupted them, "please let us clean the house first before you go inside."
Lendon nodded.
It was dark already. Curtis suggested that they should have dinner first, so they went to a restaurant nearby. After dinner, they started cleaning.
Lendon pulled Kendra to the second floor.
"Where was the bedroom?" Lendon asked excitedly.
"No, I didn't have a bedroom here. But my mom had." Kendra said. She walked to a room slowly and opened the door.
As the door opened, Kendra seemed to go back to her childhood again. Looking at the familiar room, she wanted to cry. She had lots of good memories here.
"Why is it so small?" Looking at the small room, Lendon frowned. He walked in and noticed a painting on the wall.
"Don't touch it." Kendra followed Lendon, "My mom painted it, and she never let me touch it."
Lendon held Kendra and put her on a chair.
"Sit here. Don't walk." He ordered.
"I am fine. Curtis helped me wrap it." Kendra smiled and said, "There was a photo album in that drawer. Take it out."
Lendon did as Kendra told and sat down next to her.
"That's me." Kendra opened the photo album and said, "I was one year old." The baby didn't wear any clothes but just smiled happily.
"How stupid you look before," Lendon commented.
"Okay, don't look then." Kendra grabbed and closed it.
"Give it to me," Lendon patted her cheek and took the album from her hands. He browsed it devotedly and smiled. He saw all her photos from a baby to a literally grown, pretty woman.
Kendra looked at him, and his smile somehow made her feel great.
"This one is good." Lendon suddenly raised his head. He happened to look into Kendra's eyes.
