Chapter 62: Don't Try To Get Away

He held her hand, and they went straight to the golf club. Several people were already playing golf. Some of them noticed Lendon, and they greeted him, to which Lendon only nodded as a response.
"Take a deep breath when you hit the ball out. Relax when you swing. Don't be nervous. Just have a try." Lendon taught Kendra patiently. He told her all the important details.
However, Kendra was not interested, so she barely makes it. Though she tried several times, she never succeeded. "Never mind, I don't want to continue." Finally, she lowered her head in frustration.
"You give up so easily?" Lendon stood casually next to her, frowning.
"I can't grasp the skill." Kendra snorted. When Lendon was near her, she couldn't focus on learning as she could smell his scent. Their body touches each other while he's teaching her.
"I will show you," Lendon smiled and said proudly. He walked forward and stood still. Then, he adjusted his feet a little and made a perfect swing. The ball rolled to the hole soon.
"Wow!" Some girls around them exclaimed. They all stared at Lendon and felt excited.
Lendon ignored all the other girls and pulled Kendra into his arms. He grabbed her hands and lowered his head. In this way, Lendon's lips were near Kendra's eyes, and his chest was close to her back.
Kendra felt uncomfortable because Lendon was too close to her. A sudden strong desire awakened her senses.
"Focus. Just make a swing casually. Here we go." Lendon hit the ball and succeeded again.
Girls screamed and clapped their hands.
"He is so handsome."
"Oh my god, I wish he is my teacher."
"I want to be held by him. I envy that girl."
If Kendra were not here, these girls must have taken a picture with Lendon.
"Well done!" Lendon rubbed Kendra's head and encouraged her.
Kendra blushed while other girls were further stimulated.
Lendon acted like he didn't hear or see those girls at all. Instead, he just focused his attention on Kendra while giving her some best advice to play golf well.
Under Lendon's instruction, Kendra made some progress.
Lendon sat down nearby Kendra and stared at her while drinking water. Kendra was perfect in every way. However, when she wore the golf attire, she was even hotter. He almost couldn't control himself.
"Mr. Martin, they are here." Curtis walked to Lendon and informed him.
Lendon nodded and stood up. He walked to Kendra and rubbed her head, saying, "Stay here. I will be right back." However, as he wanted to leave, he turned around to stare at Kendra and warned, "Don't try to get away."
Kendra somehow felt nervous.
Finally, Lendon left Curtis to keep an eye on her. After Lendon left, Kendra got bored. She has not been into golf since childhood.
"Miss Miller, you can take a break," Curtis said and gave Kendra a towel.
Kendra wiped her face and said, "Thank you." Then, she sat down and was in a daze.
"Do you feel bored, Miss Miller?" Curtis asked.
"Yes, I don't like golf." Kendra looked at Curtis and said, "Can you play?"
"Yes." Curtis nodded and answered. As Lendon's private steward, he was professionally trained. A perfect steward should be able to do everything.
"Here you are." Kendra gave her club to Curtis and said, "Go to play."
Curtis didn't refuse Kendra's kindness. He made some swings, not as perfect as Lendon, but outstanding, too.
Kendra looked at Curtis and smiled. Then, suddenly, someone poured water on her legs. Kendra looked up surprisingly and saw Joyce standing in front of her.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to trouble you." Joyce smiled arrogantly and apologized.
Why did she come here?
"Miss Miller, long time no see." Joyce greeted her, grinning.
Kendra said nothing but grabbed some tissue paper from her bag to wipe dry the spilled water.
"Poor people don't know politeness. I apologized, and you should respond." Joyce sneered and said.
"Yes, you are rich and well-educated, I guess. But, unfortunately, your apology is too noble for me to accept. I wonder if I offended you to make you so arrogant." Kendra glanced at Joyce, throwing the sharp words at her.
"Good for you." Joyce glared at Kendra, crossed her arms on her chest. She heard about Kendra frequently these days, including the engagement party. She was shocked. She didn't expect that Kendra could stay with Lendon for such a long time. Why did Lendon choose Kendra? She was much richer and prettier than this low-key woman!
"Are you alone today? Where is Lendon?" Suddenly Joyce queried.
"Can you please leave me alone?" Kendra asked back. She really didn't want to waste her time with her.
"You are afraid of me?" Joyce walked around Kendra. A disdainful look was visible, "Don't worry. I will be nice." She sat down next to Kendra.
"What do you want?" Kendra frowned. She knew this woman was up to something.
"I want to play with you." Joyce leaned forward to pinch Kendra's cheek.
But Kendra avoided her touch and plunged her hand away, "I am not free."
"No, I want you to play with me, and you must agree." Joyce said and grabbed Kendra's hand, "Let's have a competition."
"Let me go." Kendra threw Joyce's hand away and warned her in anger, "Don't challenge my limit."
"What? Do you want to beat me?" Joyce said disdainfully, "Don't forget who I am. What can you do? Oh, you can ask Lendon to help you. That's the best you can do."
Obviously, Joyce was humiliating her. Kendra almost lost her temper. But, instead, she took a deep breath and said, "You seem so bored."
"Yes, you are right." Joyce shrugged her shoulders and wore an annoying smile. "So I am challenging you to compete for golf with me,"
Were they friends? Why did Joyce come to her? Kendra couldn't understand.
"What? Are you afraid now, Miss Miller?" Joyce raised her eyebrow, mocked her, "Never mind. I forget how weak you are."
"What do you want to compete for?" Kendra asked. Fine, she will accept her challenge.
"Golf, of course. Didn't you hear what I said earlier?" Joyce smiled and said. She rubbed her club confidently.
Hearing Joyce's words, Kendra felt a sudden headache.
"You can't play golf?" Joyce noticed Kendra's facial expression and asked, "Really?" She pretended that she was shocked.
"What's the stake?" Kendra clenched her fists and asked.
"It's simple. If I win, you need to make Lendon have dinner with me." Joyce raised her eyebrows and said.
"What if you lose?" Kendra asked.
"How is that possible?" Joyce said casually. She was good at golf since she was a child. How could she lose to a poor girl?
"Who knows." Kendra smiled and said.
"You can have whatever you want," Joyce said after hesitating for seconds.
"Fine," Kendra said and stared at Joyce. She now really wanted to win.
At that time, Curtis finally noticed Joyce. He walked to Kendra and asked, "What's up, Miss Miller?"
"Nothing important. Miss Cullen wants to compete with me." Kendra told him.
Joyce recognized Curtis, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she took her club and said, "We all have ten chances, and we will see who wins. Okay?"
"No Problem." Kendra agreed. She took her club back from Curtis and stood next to Joyce.
"Miss Miller, shall I tell Mr. Martin?" Curtis frowned and asked worriedly.
"No, Curtis, I will compete, Miss Cullen," Kendra said and focused on her club.
"Here we go," Joyce said and made a swing. Her ball went into the hole soon. "Bravo!" Joyce screamed and looked at Kendra, "It's your turn."
Kendra held her club and felt so nervous. She couldn't lose. She must win. Thinking about it, Kendra also made a swing. However, she didn't even hit the ball.
Joyce was amused by Kendra's hilarious action and said, "Are you kidding me?"
Kendra grabbed her club tightly and wanted to hit Joyce's head. She took a deep breath to calm down.
"Don't embarrass yourself anymore." Joyce mocked Kendra. Her second ball also went into the hole.
Kendra was too nervous, so she didn't succeed for once.
Curtis also got worried and said, "Relax, Miss Miller. Don't be so stiff."
Kendra listened to Curtis and adjusted her position. It worked.
In the end, Kendra still lost by seven scores to Joyce.
Obviously, Joyce was taking advantage of Kendra, but Kendra admitted her failure.
"You lost," Joyce said happily.
"I don't need your reminder," Kendra said.
"You seem not convinced. Shall we do it again?" Joyce asked.
"You know I am not good at it." Kendra glanced at Joyce and said.
"That's why I compete with you," Joyce said shamelessly.
Kendra glared at Joyce and said nothing.
"Okay, let's talk about the stake." Joyce took a note out of her pocket and said, "I will be waiting for Lendon here tomorrow at 7 pm. Don't disappoint me, or I will make you regret it." She smiled evilly while looking at her.
Kendra looked at the note and found it wrote "Garden Hotel."
