Chapter 25: Treat Her Swollen Face
People who saw Lendon's fierce outburst got silent. One of the police wanted to stop Lendon, but his bodyguards stopped him immediately.
A police officer who clearly recognized Lendon just murmured, "He is Lendon Martin. The renowned duke of this country,"
Everyone stood still and didn't dare to move.
Lendon took his coat off and sneered, "I admire your courage. How dare you hurt her? You hurt my woman, you're courting death," He kicked the man's belly heavily.
Hit by the strong kick, the man screamed and curled himself on the floor.
"What are you doing? Stop it!" Kendra quickly stood in the middle to stop Lendon's cruel act. They were in the police station now. What if the police will detain Lendon for doing such havoc?
"Shut up!" Lendon glanced at Kendra and roared, "I have never seen anyone so stupid like you. How can you let him slap you? How can you let anybody bully you?"
Kendra lowered her head, felt awkward as she realized what he said was right. She couldn't find any words to say; perhaps Lendon doesn't want her to get bullied.
"Tell me how this stupid man dares to hurt you?" Looking at the man lying on the floor, Lendon glanced at Kendra. He wanted to give another heavy kick, but Kendra slung her arm around his waist and pulled him in tightly.
"Please, that's enough," She begged, eyes red as tears were about to fall.
A silence occurred, and Kendra stared at him seriously. It turned out that Lendon didn't know what happened. Why did he beat the man then? He pulled her closer and gave her a tight hug. He slipped a few strands of hair at the back of her ears and gently caressed her swollen face.
"Tell me everything," His voice went soft.
Embarrassed by Lendon's gentle touch, she gradually explained. "I drove your Porsche out and crashed into his car. He asked for 10 thousand dollars. I don't have such a huge amount,"
"That's all?" Lendon's eyes flew at the man and asked, "Where is your car?"
The man pointed outside, still afraid of another attack from Lendon, "That's my car. I just bought it today." He thought that Lendon wanted to pay him.
Lendon stood quickly, held Kendra's hands, and walked out. He stretched his hand out, and a bodyguard gave him an iron steel.
Lendon gave the steel to Kendra and ordered, "Smash it."
"What?" Kendra couldn't believe her ears.
"I said, smash it." Lendon pushed Kendra and repeated.
Kendra walked to the car with the steel slowly, but she really couldn't smash the car, so she turned around and looked at Lendon.
"If you don't smash it, I will smash you." Lendon walked to her, held her arms, and threatened her.
Kendra closed her eyes and made up her mind. She didn't have a choice. She lifted the iron steel and began to smash the car. Somehow, Kendra felt happy a little bit. She finally could release her anger. While smashing the car, Kendra also cursed the man in her mind.
Lendon kept his distance from her, stared at Kendra, amused by her relieved reaction. After a while, the car was totally deformed. Lendon said, "That's enough."
Kendra even got sweaty, but she was so happy. She threw the steel on the ground and ran back to Lendon.
The man saw his car being totally ruined and felt so horrible.
Lendon gave the man a check and said, "10 thousand dollars." Then, he glanced at the police and asked, "Did you see who smashed the car?"
"It's him." Scared, the police all pointed at the man.
"I'm looking forward that what happened inside this station will only remain here. I assumed all of you knew who I was," Lendon's threatening smile made the police officers nod simultaneously. He held Kendra's waist and left the police station soon. It just took him less than 10 minutes to handle this accident.
Kendra looked at Lendon and couldn't imagine that he will do such an unlawful way to shut the mouth of the police officers. She turned around to glance at the man and also felt a little guilt. "Mr. Martin…" She said,
"Shut up! Did I let you talk?" Lendon got in the car and sneered at her, "Why are you so weak? Don't you know how to avoid other people's attacks? Can you only use words to protect yourself? How stupid!"
"I…"
"Enough!" Lendon glared at Kendra and said, "Look at your face. It's not pretty anymore because it was swollen. Fuck, I should kill him!"
"Actually…"
"What?! You are good at making me angry. How come you become so weak in front of others?" Lendon scolded her heavily.
"Get in. You're making me annoyed,"
She pulled the car door, got in. Kendra was interrupted several times, and she didn't know how to explain. The car sped along the highway.
"Why don't you speak?" Lendon glanced at her.
"You don't let me talk," Kendra murmured.
"Are you talking back to me?" He sounded annoyed, she felt he wanted to strangle her neck any moment.
"I'm sorry." She briefly said. She knew the best way to deal with Lendon was to apologize.
"Fool!" Lendon glanced at Kendra, couldn't help to utter bad words against her.
She suddenly felt relieved, smiled, and poked at Lendon's arm, "Thank you."
Lendon glared at Kendra and didn't say a word.
"I really appreciate your help." Kendra stared at him, she looked so vibrant this time. Then, she lowered her head and went silent.
"That's all?" Lendon asked after a while.
"What?" Kendra looked at him, puzzled by his last word.
The next second, Lendon pulled Kendra to him and kissed her lips fiercely. He rubbed Kendra's face naturally, but Kendra pushed him away.
"What's wrong? Didn't you like it? That's your punishment for making me worry," Lendon frowned, his arms snaking around her waist tightly.
"It hurt." Kendra covered her face out of embarrassment.
The man was too cruel. Kendra's face couldn't even be touched now. It was swollen, and she felt the sharp pain in just a simple graze on it.
Lendon had to stop kissing her. He felt so annoyed while looking at her swollen face.
"Next time, be on guard, don't let anybody hurt you,"
Kendra was speechless. Despite his bad temper and psycho behavior, Lendon is always there to lend her a protective hand.
Lendon had to sit there quietly and let Kendra loose. When they went back to the castle, Lendon asked Alexis to treat Kendra's swollen face.
When Alexis finished, it was already 8 in the evening.
Gathering his belongings, Alexis glanced at Lendon, who was silently leaning his back on the wall lazily, "Mr. Martin, Miss Miller will be fine."
Lendon glanced at Kendra's face and asked, "When will the swelling be gone?"
"Maybe tomorrow," Alexis answered.
"Kendra, it's already 8 o'clock. How about your punishment?" Lendon narrowed his eyes to her and quickly reminded her what she should have to do.
"I will go to cook now," Kendra said and stood up.
"Well, since you are hurt, I can just have some noodles." Lendon's voice suddenly came.
Kendra nodded and walked to the kitchen. Lendon followed her, silently sitting on the dining table, waiting for his noodles. However, Curtis, who was there too, was shocked when he saw that Lendon patiently waited for Kendra's noodles.
"My Lord, I thought you don't like noodles," Curtis asked confusedly.
"You talked too much, Curtis," Lendon glared at Curtis, his eyes like a sharp dagger ready to slash him.
Curtis lowered his head and didn't say a word.
Lendon also stood up and went up to Kendra.
Kendra was busy preparing the noodles. Lendon stood behind her and stared at her back. He didn't even know he suddenly smiled while looking at her every movement. He could feel her enthusiasm, and that simple gesture warmed his lonely heart.
Soon, the noodles were ready. Kendra wanted to serve noodles in a bowl, but accidentally, she scalded her fingers and screamed.
Lendon rushed to Kendra and grabbed her hand. "Are you nuts? You don't know it's hot?" He looked at Kendra's swollen fingers and said in anger.
"I thought you must be hungry, that's why I hurried to finish it!" Kendra murmured. She feared that Lendon would get angry if he waited for too long.
Lendon glared at Kendra and felt so speechless. After a while, he rubbed Kendra's hand and said, "Go and find Alexis to treat it."
"I'm fine." Kendra took her hand back and ignored his order.
"Just go." Lendon insisted.
"It's not a big deal." Kendra smiled at him, put her swollen hand on the running tap water. It relieved her a bit, "It's time for dinner." She took the bowl and walked to the dining room.
Looking at Kendra's smile absentmindedly, Lendon had to follow her. A sudden weird feeling hit him and played on his mind. He couldn't name what it was.
"Mr. Martin, your dinner is ready." Kendra waved her hands in front of him and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"Kendra." Lendon suddenly grabbed Kendra's arm and called her name.
"What?" Confused, she stared at him.
"Nothing. Let's have dinner together. I can't eat alone," Lendon hesitated for seconds and softly invited her. He walked to the table, but his heart somehow beat so quickly. It was so strange. Lendon never met this kind of emotion before, so he felt so happy yet afraid. What if one day, she will run away. Would he still can find her?
Alexis, who's not far from them, looked at them happily, a gentle smile formed at the corner of his lips.
"Why did you smile?" Curtis, who was near him, asked curiously.
"I think I know why Mr. Martin changed," Alexis uttered meaningful words.
"Why?" Curtis looked at him weirdly.
"I bet you know, Curtis," Alexis added.
Alexis and Curtis looked at each other then smiled.
