Chapter 11
Matt,
I know you told me not to come back to the pack but it’s time we stop hiding, when we aren’t criminals. We can go on as we have. I’m not just some dirty secret!
I’ll stay out of your way. You don’t have to see me, but it would be nice to see your handsome face once more. How I’ve missed your kisses and your tender touches.
I understand that you’re married and wouldn’t want anything to jeopardize your marriage. I completely understand you.
Little Teddy misses you too though. He keeps asking of his ‘Dada’ every now and then and I don’t know what to say to him.
Someday though, I’m going to have to tell him about his father.
Oh, we finally left the apartment you got for us, I found a much more better place. It’s the first apartment we spoke about the other day.
All my love,
Becca.
Jasmine didn’t realize that She was holding her breath until she let out a sharp, shaky breath. She had never felt such hurt before and she let the tears all out. What was the need of holding back?
She was worried that her husband hadn’t touched her because of something that he had done, meanwhile, it was because he had another woman somewhere out there.
The letter explained a lot, his evasiveness, those late nights- they weren’t kingdom business. They were his mistress’ business.
She closed her eyes, remembering the words of declaration he had said to her when he had taken her from Alpha Jace. The earth shattering card they’d had, the memories they had all shared.
She shuddered, just as bile rose in her throat, making her skin crawl.
Different emotions she didn’t know hurtled through her, leaving het even more breathless than she thought possible.
“Get a hold of yourself Jasmine!” She chided herself as she crumpled to the ground.
White, hot fury surged through her. Here she was, trying to get her marriage back in order and her husband was probably somewhere else, screwing his mistress.
Before she could think better of it, she found herself striding down the hallway, in search of him. Her teeth grind together in barely suppressed anger and she clenched get dust tightly, crumpling the envelope in the process.
She vowed that she wasn’t going to be some voiceless victim. The card was damnably incriminating. Her heart clenched painfully.
A lone tear slid down her eyes as she remembered when she had questioned him once when they were both drunk two years ago, if he had any children she should know of. He’d easily claimed that he didn’t.
What a fool that she had been. It wasn’t like he was going to admit that he had fathered a child with someone else.
“Where is the King?” She questioned the guards stationed in front of his room.
She had already cleaned her tears by now after deciding that she wasn’t going to let them see her in pain like this. Perhaps, he had some sort of explanation for this. But even as She thought about that, she knew that her marriage was already on the line.
“He left a couple minutes ago…”
She didn’t let him complete his statement and walked away, going straight to find Cara.
“Cara!” She called out as soon as She got to her room.
“Your highness.”
She spun around to meet Cara’s concerned face. “Can you drive?”
“Your highness?” She seemed startled, blinking rapidly as she stared at Jasmine.
“I need you to take me somewhere, discreetly,” Jasmine said, her eyes darting around to make sure no one was watching them.
One thing She had realized about this mansion after being here for years was the fact that there were spies everyone, planted by both my husband and the other council members. Even the high ladies of the pack had their own spies, here. At least, Leila was proof of that.
There was only one place Matt could be at this time and it was the community’s college that was currently being renovated.
“Take me to the community college and pack close to where we would see the king’s car leave the building.”
Her brows knitted in confusion as her puzzled expression returned. “You mean…”
“Right now, Cara.”
Jasmine could tell that she wasn’t thrilled about the idea, but neither was She. She hated any kind of deviousness, but for the first time in her life, She had a lot to lose and She wasn’t about to lose her marriage at the moment.
“With all due respect, your highness, I don’t think this is a good idea,” Cara said slowly, wondering why the Queen suddenly wanted to tail her husband.
Her sudden change had shocked her, first it was entering the boys’ chambers and then refusing to eat with her family, she had also moved her things to the King’s room and right now, she wanted to tail her husband. Cara couldn’t help but wonder if something was going on.
“I don’t care,” Jasmine said, grabbing her bag and leading the way to the car outside.
She couldn’t trust her driver, as she feared that he was going to inform the king.
Cara was quiet for a while before she let out a deep exhale and walked out of the room, closely behind the Queen.
Jasmine chose the small black Porsche as she wanted something that wouldn’t attract much attention.
Tears stung her eyes as she turned away to stare out the car window.
Did he hold the baby in his arms when it was first born?
Was he allowed to be in the child’s room?
Did he sing lullabies to him until he fell asleep?
Had he played chase with him?
With a wretched sigh, she eventually forced the torturous thoughts out of her head.
She had been in the car for a while after sending him a text, asking where he was. Just as she was about to give up and tell Cara to driver her back, something caught her eyes.
