Chapter 70

Cara had no idea why she had flashed him such an hideous smile.She wanted to keep her cool but she couldn’t find herself doing that when her heart couldn’t stop stupidly beating in a faster pace every passing seconds.

Cara kept a little distance from him as he walks her to her room.He opens the door of the room and turns to face Cara.

“Your room”he said with the most charming smile Cara had ever seen on a man.She had never noticed men enough to care about how their smile looked.

“Thank you”she said shyly and goes into the room.

“I should leave you to settle in”Sam said although he would like to reverse that instantly.

“Yeah…”Cara said with a quiet voice that could hardly be heard.Sam nods and was about to close the door when Cara talks.

“Or maybe you can just keep me company….of course that’s if you are less busy”Cara quickly said without holding back,she had never wanted him to leave the room.

“Yes,yes I am,I suppose I will come in then”Sam said with a smile.He closed the door behind him and walks over to sit on the bed with Cara beside him.

“So….is the room to your taste”Sam asked trying to kill the silence that had awkwardly spread in the room.

“Yeah,yeah it’s…”Cara stops to look around. “It’s homy”she said and looks back at Sam.Sam nods and muttered an okay.

“Have you been living here for long”Cara asked.

“No it has just been five years,my father insisted on me working for the Alpha,he calls it devotion”Sam said.He felt disturbed at the thought of his father finding out his mate is from the Nighthawk pack which he despised.He knew he would be against it and will have him reject her.His wolf growls and he had his fists clenched.Cara wondered why he seemed somewhat angry all of a sudden.

“Is something wrong”Cara asked and Sam jolted out of his thoughts.

“Oh no,I’m sorry for spacing out right in front of you”Sam said.

“It’s okay,hope you are not being disturbed by me”Cara asked.

“Of course not”Sam said quicker than he intended to.Both stayed quiet for a while and Sam felt the moment was a chance of his.He moved closer to her as his face slowly bend to close the gap between his mouth and hers.Cara closed her eyes as she realizes what was about to happen.Her heart begins to race as she held the helm of her clothing tightly.She closed her eyes expecting the kiss to drop on her lips only for her to feel nothing.She opened her eyes back and unfortunately,Sam had moved back and clears his throat awkwardly.

“I’m sorry,I gotta go”He said and instantly stands up to leave.Cara felt so embarrassed and she couldn’t imagine how she will approach him the next time which she knew will probably be the day again.She imagined what it would have actually felt like if he had kissed her.After some minutes of thinking,she found herself lying slowly on the bed and not long after drifts into sleep.


Mina knew Jace was back.Just like he had always done,he slammed the door of his room open and stride inside with a dark gaze.A guest could never have known Mina was in his room as Jace did a good job of keeping her locked away.Not that she couldn’t break open the door but because she dared not to.

“Come”Jace said to Mina who stayed at her usual spot,cowered beside Jace’s bed.She stands up and goes to meet him.She bowed and begin to untie his tie.He watches her intently as her tiny hands fiddle with the tie knot.

“Where did you go again”Jace said and Mina stops in her track.

“I didn’t step out”Mina denied with a straight face.Jace knew Mina to be cunning and he was sure she must have disappeared a lot to wherever she wanted to be.Jace had hated her when he found her to be his mate.He thought it was the most awful thing moon goddess had done to him.Even though his wolf couldn’t keep himself at bay whenever they were with her but he himself loathes her,especially the fact that she’s just a lowlife witch.

Jace caught her hand and it held it firmly looking intently into her lucid eyes.

“Don’t fool me Mina,I know how despicable you can be”Jace said with gritted teeth while he still held her hand.Mina doesn’t want to provoke him any longer so she kept quiet and only her hastening breaths were prove of how scared she was.Unexpectedly for her,he slams his mouth into hers as he begins to savor her lips.Mina didn’t resist as he had always found his way one way or another.He separates their mouth and then pushes her over to the edge of the bed.He turns her back to him and shifted up the gown she had on.Mina who had gotten used to his beastly mating complied.Jace begins to fiddle with his belt.He got off his trousers and instantly slams into her.

“Fuck”he growls as he felt the pleasure he had awaited for the time he had been away.Mina had become too bitter to feel the pleasure any longer.She kept her gaze on the door as he dive in and out of her.That had been what they had,sex.Though she loved him and yearned for his love,but she doesn’t like his way of making love to her.He had once told her she could never be more than his sex tool and as he had said,things never changed.But she still had a little hope,the most tiniest she could summon out of her.
