Chapter 24

Jasmine soon got to the territory and she glanced at Cara. She didn't know what she was going to do. She had relied on the fact that everyone had said that Tree Pack was a hub for witches. She had no idea how she was going to find the one that would help her.

"Cara, what do I do?"

Cara furrowed her brows. She didn't want to believe that the Queen did not have a single plan in place.

"Why are you here, your highness?"

Jasmine's face fell as she thought of Cara's question. Why was she even here? She had never believed in witchcraft or magic, but she had felt that she had no choice as it was what her sister had used and it worked. She just wanted to know if perhaps, her sister had done another one and perhaps know why her marriage was in shambles.

"I don't know, Cara. I don't know. I came here for answers."

Cara nodded sympathetically. She couldn't say she understood the pain the queen was going through as she had never gone through it, but she was certain that it was going to be better.

"You'll be fine, your highness. First, we had to find someone to direct us to a good seer. And another thing your Highness, since we are being discrete, it would be best that we hide your identity—our identity.

Jasmine found it to be a good idea too and nodded. Just then, a small child grabbed the hem of Jasmine's dress and as Cara was about to push her away, Jasmine stopped her.

"Stop, she's just a child," she crouched down to the child's level.

"How are you, cutie?"

"I'm fine," she said in a childish voice and then added. "Queen Jasmine."

Jasmine quickly pulled her hand away from the child's, just as Cara gasped.

"Who are you?"

Cara nodded knowingly, finally figuring out what was going on. She had heard of such things in stories but didn't believe them until now.

"She's a witch. This is no child."

The child smiled as she stared at Cara. "And you must be the blessed one, Cara Whitman."

"Anyways," she turned to Jasmine. "I've been expecting you. Come."

Jasmine exchanged looks with Cara who shrugged. Left alone to her, Cara would not even be here anyway.

Jasmine followed the child and Cara followed suit, hoping that they weren't making a mistake

The child led them to a small cottage that wasn't too far from where Cara had parked the car. She was glad that she was able to pick a car that didn't attract much attention.

"I'm Lenore," the chins began, before doing something that terrified Jasmine.

The little girl of not more than five years old suddenly became tall and big and took the shape of a woman in her mid-thirties.

"Come in," she opened the door slowly for the two women.

"What can I get you? Ginseng tea?"

Jasmine shook her head and Lenore's face lit up. "Jasmine tea, it is the."

Jasmine wanted to protest, but Couldn't as the woman rounded the room and then came back almost immediately with a steaming mug of tea.

She thanked her politely and took it. Jasmine glanced at Cara to see that Cara was already halfway done with her tea.

Jasmine was too scared of taking hers, which Lenore noticed and smiled sweetly at her.

"Take it, please, go on. I don't like my guests coming to my home without taking tea."

That seemed to motivate Jasmine as she began to take the tea and surprisingly, it was good, really good.

"I know why you have come," she began as she sat on the floor, in front of Jasmine. "It was a huge mistake. You have fallen into their trap."

Jasmine scrunched her face in confusion as she wondered what trap she had fallen into.

"I wish I could go into details but I'm unable to speak for a week due to my ritual. The only thing I'm going to tell you is to be extremely careful and for you to hurry back to your home. Something is about to go wrong."

"What?" Jasmine's mouth was wide open and Cara was listening with rapt attention.

"What's going on?"

"Go now!"

"I haven't asked my Questions, the one that brought me all the way here."

Lenore shook her head. She was already feeling pity for the woman. She had no idea about the kind of trap she had fallen into.

"Is my husband under a curse by my sister?"

Lenore sighed. "When you get back to your home, you will know."

Jasmine couldn't believe what the seer was saying. Was it that the woman didn't know her job? Why would she choose to tell her this rubbish?

"Let's go, Cara. This has been a waste," Jasmine stood up and Cara stood up as well, glad that the Queen was finally coming to her senses and realizing that this was a stupid idea.

"Don't go anywhere else, but home. There might be a way to save him before he is completely doomed."

Cara muttered a small thanks and followed Jasmine who was already waiting by the Car.

Jasmine wondered what exactly it was that the woman wanted as she didn't request money or anything. She was weird.

Throughout the drive, Jasmine was silent and Cara glanced at her, wondering what it was she was feeling now as her expression was completely unreadable.

When they finally got to the mansion, Jasmine got out, needing nothing but sleep, that was until something caught her eyes on the veranda.

Matt was there and he was laughing and chatting with a woman over a drink, but it wasn't exactly what piqued her interest.

The woman was very familiar, it was someone she knew all too well and it wasn't Becca.

When She walked towards them and she saw who it was, her heart clenched tightly and she finally understood what it was that the witch was talking about.
