Chapter 75

Karl paces around his room at night,contemplating on whether or not to go for dinner.He was feeling upset when he heard about his father’s decision to get married to Rose and it had made him worried what will become of them now.The door opens and he sees Melvin come in.

“If you keep that up,Father will forever kept you locked up”Melvin said referring to how Karl had been pacing.

“I know Melvin,but….it’s just that I felt it’s wrong for everything to be going this way,with mother gone,do you think we will have a quiet life like we had if that woman becomes the queen”Karl said and takes a sit at the edge of his bed.

“If we be on our best behavior,everything will be good”Melvin said and Karl glares at him.

“Let me ask you one thing Melvin,have you ever loved our mother”Karl said.He had always wondered with how Melvin had always been calm with the maddening situation in the mansion.

“Of course I do,it’s just that it’s easy to get used to her gone since she had never been around that much”Melvin said with a quiet voice.He had always wanted the love of their mother but he gave up when he sees she wouldn’t make a move towards them.

“You know it’s not her fault Melvin,mother had a duty and you know how she tried to sort us out once,even twice”Karl said.Melvin nods in agreement.Just then,Karl’s maids comes in to inform the two of dinner.Karl hesitates but Melvin forced him to come along.Benny had joined them too and they all went to the dinning room.When they got there,they saw their father is yet to come down.They take their seats on their usual spots and waited for the king to come down.After some minutes of waiting,they saw Matt coming down hand in hand with Rose while talking to her about something that seems inaudible to them.Karl’s stomach twists in a knot as he glares at Rose but immediately stopped after he sees Rose looks at them.

“Hello children”Matt said which surprised them.Their father had never talked to them with so much enthusiasm.They figured it must be because of the announcement he made earlier in the day.

“I have an announcement to make”Matt enquired while gazing at Rose with love which made Rose’s smile brighten more.

“Children,Rose will be the new queen and your new mother,you are to refer her as the queen from now on”Matt said while facing his children who looked rather unhappy with his announcement.

“Okay your highness”they said in unison and Matt nods.

“Good,let’s dine”Matt said and they begin to eat.Karl couldn’t eat much,he only picks on his food and on the other hand,his two brothers doesn’t seem to give a care as they devour their food naturally like nothing is wrong.He wouldn’t excuse himself because of what had happened the last time he did so he just sat and tried to munch the little he could.

After dinner,the kids went back to their rooms but sneaked back to Karl’s room to comfort each other.Their last brother which was only a child was the only one exempted from the headaches they are getting as the princes.Little Matt is only going to be two years in a month and he had always been separated from Jasmine also.Since she gave birth to him,she had only been allowed to see him once in a week.

Still that night in the Moon rising pack,Jasmine got a call from Rose,the in-lady.

“Your highness”Rose said when Jasmine picks the call.

“I told you to stop calling me that Rose,I’m far away from Nighthawk to be their queen”Jasmine responded while pacing slowly around the room.

“I understand,I need to inform you about some crazy change in the mansion now”Rose said which arose Jasmine’s interest.

“And what might that be”Jasmine said with curiosity.

“Your highness,it will be heart wrenching for you but you need to stay calm”Rose said which made Jasmine impatient of whatever Rose intentioned to say.

“Please,don’t get me all scared”Jasmine said.

“The thing is,the king had made an announcement to make your step sister the new queen”Rose said which made Jasmine’s breath stops.She had seen it coming but she does not know it will be this soon.She clenched her fist as the thought of Rose taking her place in the queen’s room flashed across her mind.

“Hello”Rose said when she heard no response from her.

“I need to go”Jasmine said and ends the call before Rose could say another word.Jasmine begins to pace around faster than she had.She bits on her lower lip anxiously as she thought of her children yet again.

Her legs got tired and she takes a sit on the edge of the bed.

“How should I fight Moon goddess”She said quietly while looking up at the drywall ceilings.She wonders why the Moon goddess is being so hard on her been she had always been good.

“That bitch”Jasmine said with venom as she recalls Rose’s face when she had been accused of bewitching Matt.She wondered if it was wrong of her to have kept quiet without saying a word to defend herself in front of the council.She comes to the conclusion of all of it being her fault,only if she had not foolishly gone to Tree Pack will she not have fall into the trap Rose had set for her.

She wipes her face with the back of her palm and sniffs.Tears had been flowing out of the corners of her eyes without it been her intention.She had wanted to stay strong without showing any sign of weakness but then again,her fragile heart yearns the love she had lost.
