Chapter 21

Jasmine stared at the woman In front of her. Nothing about her seemed to have changed, except a few greying hairs here and there.

The last time she had heard about the woman was almost three years ago.

Maria Hall still stood proud, despite all that had happened to her. She had been locked up and when she got out, divorced by her own husband and abandoned by her daughter. She had decided to move away and start all over again, That was until she got a text from an unknown number, she decided that her new life was boring and the offer was more appealing, and now, here she was.

"You must have some guts coming here," Jasmine wondered if the guards had forgotten who Maria was to have even let her inside the house.

"You were my daughter once.."

"Daughter?" Jasmine scoffed. "With the way you treated me? Is that how you treated your own daughter?"

Maria was getting impatient already and tried to calm herself down with the fact that good things came to those who waited. Jasmine had not bothered to let her sit and had walked to the main door to the house to find the woman standing there.

"Look, Jasmine…"

"It's Queen Jasmine," Jasmine reminded her. Not that she would've minded if it were someone else, but it was the woman she hated the most.

Maria scoffed. The Girl really had some guts.

"Queen Jasmine," she played with the words on her lips. "You do know that you became Queen because of me.."

"Oh wow. How interesting. Didn't you allow my father to force me into this marriage because of your reputation of him?"

She looked like she wanted to say something, but stopped short. Jasmine watched the woman in silence.

"Won't you let me in?" Maria finally said, her legs were beginning to ache from standing for too long.

The bitch was going to let her stand for hours on end! She thought, smiling sweetly as Jasmine.

"Come in," Jasmine finally said, although she didn't want to say anything to the woman, but decided to be a little bit courteous.

Jasmine let her sit in the living room and ordered the maids to get a glass of juice for her.

"Well then, what is it?" She asked, as soon as the maid brought her request.

"I know I never got a chance to say it earlier, but I'm sorry for everything. The way I and my daughter treated you wasn't the best and I'm…"

"You didn't come here to plead with me, did you?" Jasmine was already suspecting that the woman wanted something. She just couldn't figure out what exactly it was that the woman wanted.

"Must I have a reason to visit my daughter?"

"I am not your daughter!" Jasmine snapped.

"Still, dear, I don't need to have a reason to visit you.."

"But you do. If not, you wouldn't be here after all these years."

She chuckled lightly. "You were always smart. I often secretly compared you to my daughter."

"Why are you here, Mrs. Hall?"

"Oh, I dropped that name after your father divorced me. Bless his soul. I'm now Maria Montgomery."

Jasmine scoffed. After so many long years of her praying for the woman to go back to being a Montgomery instead of a Hall, it was years after, when She did even care that her wish was granted.

"I'm here to talk about something important."

Jasmine glanced at her wristwatch. The ladies were going to be here any moment soon and she didn't want to keep them waiting and she certainly couldn't waste her time on stupid affairs.

"What is it?" She pressed her lips into a thin line.

"Your mother."

That piqued Jasmine's interest and she popped up her head to glare at the woman before her.

"What about my mother?" Jasmine's mother had died a long time ago and that was what prompted her father to marry Maria.

"You need to know how she died. There is something your father didn't tell you."

Jasmine's brows knitted in confusion. She didn't really understand where Maria was going with this. Her mother had died from natural causes according to her father.

"Your mother didn't have a cardiac arrest and die. Your father killed your mother…"

"What rubbish are you going on about right now?" Jasmine stood up, suddenly furious. What kind of drug had the woman taken?

"It's not a lie. If you don't believe me, then let's go see a seer…"

"So he can conjure a fake memory or vision?" Jasmine scoffed and pointed at the door. "Get out!"

"Jas.."

"Get out! I honestly blame myself for letting someone like you in here."

Maria's brain was whirring as she thought of a solid way to convince the woman.

"It's just about time for your own awakening. Your powers will soon begin to manifest. You have to let me help you so you don't turn out to be like your mother.."

"Shut up!" Jasmine yelled, her voice reverberating around the house.

"Please.Just .."

"How dare you come in here to spew nonsense! You must be itching to go back to the dungeons."

Maria was quiet as she thought about a way to convince Jasmine who on the other hand was already enraged and holding back in order to not do something that she wouldn't do normally.

"Just think about it, if you see a woman in white. The white woman and she calls you her chosen one…"

"Get out!" Jasmine snapped as she stood up and glanced around for any maid she would see. Perhaps, the women needed a reminder as to who she was.

Maria stood up. She knew that convincing Jasmine wasn't going to be easy, but she had decided that she was going to do it anyway.

She had been surprised when she found out that Jasmine had such powers, unknown to her. It was like the perfect revenge plan for Maria."

"I'll be back," Maya said, waking out of the house.
