Chapter 57

Cara mutters ‘thank goodness’ when she heard a knock on the door.She couldn’t take it any longer with the way her stomach keeps rumbling and thankfully,a Samaritan had come to her rescue as the cue to go open the door.Jasmine had fell asleep but was woken by the knock on the door.She sits up and watches Cara excitedly jumps down from the bed and head towards the door.

Cara opens the door and it revealed Jace.He flashed Cara a smile and Cara opens the door wildly for Jace to come in.

“I woke you up?”Jace asked.

“No,not at all”Jasmine said.She couldn’t afford for Jace to leave when she had wanted him over before she had fallen asleep.She was also very hungry but didn’t want to trouble Jace by going to meet him.

“I forgot to tell you to order anything you might need,you must be starving by now,you should have at least come up to me”Jace said with a worried look.

“No,we are alright”Jasmine said and Cara’s eyes wildens as she couldn’t imagine not having a meal for the night.She thought she could die of hunger at that rate.

“You aren’t hungry”Jace asked and Jasmine was quick to answer.

“No,I don’t mean that”Jasmine said and Cara heaves a sigh of relief.

“Alright,please do order anything you want”Jace said and flashed Jasmine a smile.

“Thank you”she said quietly with a smile.

“I should leave you two to be comfortable”Jace said and left the room.Cara beams when he had left.She felt like a curse had been uplifted in her life as she will finally get to be fed with anything she wants.

“What should I order your highness”Cara said with a smile.

“God…I thought I would starve to death”Jasmine said loudly that made Cara burst into a laugh.

“Sorry”she says when Jasmine looks questioningly at her.

“It’s just that you had pretended to not be starving all day when we could just have asked the gentleman”Cara said.

“Cara,think as yourself in my shoe right now,would you have gone to him so you could be fed after it was embarrassing enough to ask for his help”Jasmine said and Cara nods in reasoning.She wouldn’t have done that either.

“What would you like for dinner your highness”Cara asked again eagerly waiting for a response from Jasmine.

“Hmm….I’m craving for something spicy..Ummm…”Jasmine said while thinking of the best spicy food that will suit her taste at the moment.

“I think I will go for Spicy chicken sauté with iced tea”Jasmine said and Cara grimaced at the thought of the food Jasmine had ordered.She hated spicy foods and wonders how Jasmine could manage to eat them when it could damage one’s tongue.

Cara nods and heads towards the pbx telephone which was placed on a beside cabinet beside Jasmine’s bed.She saw a number imprinted on a small paper placed beside the Pbx and assumed it to be the hotel room service number.She pressed the numbers on the paper to the numbered buttons on the Pbx and she heard the call go through.

“Hello…good evening,this is Hyatt regency inn,my name is Blair,how may I help you please”Cara heard a woman said at the other end of the phone with a thick Scottish accent.

“I will like to order dinner”Cara said while beaming.

“Okay ma’am,what would you like to have”Cara heard the woman said.

“Hmm…spicy chicken sauté with iced tea and…Umm….chicken pasta…Umm with garlic and water please”Cara smiles satisfyingly at the thought of the food being brought to them.

“Okay ma’am,is there nothing else”The woman said.

“No”Cara responded.

“Okay ma’am,it will be brought to you in 30 minutes”The woman said and Cara’s smile fades.

“Can’t it be brought in 10 minutes”Cara said.

“No ma’am,your order had just gone to the chef and it will take less than 30 minutes for them to be done,the waiter will be at your room before it passes 30 minutes,I’m sorry for the inconveniences”The Scottish woman explained and Cara had responded quietly.She was disappointed they will have to wait for another 30 minutes when her stomach wouldn’t hear her pleas to stop rumbling.

Jasmine looks at Cara questioningly when she sees Cara get off the phone.

“They said to wait for 30 minutes”Cara said and drops on the bed.Jasmine did the same and they both laid on their back,staring at the drywall ceiling while the thought of the food kept their stomach rumbling.

Truly,30 minutes after,they heard a knock on the door and Jasmine gets up quickly even before Cara could.She walks briskly and opens the door.A waiter appears and flashed Jasmine a smile.

“Your order ma’am”The waiter said and drive in a room service trolley.Jasmine closed the door behind her and trails behind the waiter.

“You can lay it on the bed”Jasmine said when the waiter was going to lay the food tray on the bedside cabinet.The waiter sets it on the bed and flash Jasmine a smile again.

“Enjoy your meals ma’am”he said and then left the room.Cara quickly carries the food she had ordered and went over to seat on the bed.Jasmine did the same and they both begin to devour their meals.Jasmine smiles satisfyingly as the spicy chicken hits a spot she wanted it to.It felt like she had been starved for a year.At the moment,she doesn’t remember what etiquette was anymore.Back at the mansion,she would have been scolded by her husband if she had eaten in that manner.

“What a hell of a day”Jasmine said after she gulps down the iced tea with a feeling of gratification.
