Chapter 77

Rose had been excited all day.She couldn’t wait for the day of the wedding to be set.The ladies in waiting have been called into the mansion to help in preparing for the wedding.All the ladies waited in the usual conference room they always had the meeting in.Leila had been very angry and she kept her head down while looking at nothing in particular.The other ladies had began to gossip about Jasmine and how Matt had cheated on her with her sister.Rose was the only one who sat quietly.She isn’t happy with how things are going but she could do nothing other than help Jasmine out the little she can.She had thought of many ways to stop the wedding but she couldn’t make a good plan.

After some minutes of waiting some more,Rose barged into the room.Everyone goes quiet while most of them watched her with disdain.Leila looks up also and eyes her but Rose cared less to look her way.Leila clenched her fist under the table and promise to confront her after the meeting.

“Hello ladies”Rose said and takes a sit on the queen’s spot.They all face her,their thoughts eating at their minds.

“As you might have heard,i will be instated as the queen soon and you all will be my ladies-in-waiting and I will like to know all of you more”Rose said.

“You should start by saying your names first”Rose suggested and everyone looks skeptically at each other.Rose also looks at them puzzled on why they decided to say nothing.

“Let’s start”Rose clapped her hand and the ladies decides to give in.

“I’m called Aya”Aya said first.If it was Jasmine,she would have eagerly talked but they all found Rose’s presence upsetting so they kept their voices low.

“_Your highness….since I will be crowned soon,how about you start referring me as that”Rose said which made everyone glance at each other again.

“Your highness”Aya added which infuriated her but she just kept her face straight and managed to form a smile on her lips.

“I’m Maya your highness”Maya said quietly just like she had always talked.

“Serena your highness”Serena said in indifference.She is the type who follows rules and not care how much damage it is for Rose to be instated as the new queen.

“I’m Rose”Rose,the lady-in-waiting said which made Rose gaze questioningly at her but smiles immediately to acknowledge the fact that they had same names.

“Wow,you must be so lucky to share a name with me”Rose said which made the other Rose mutter a string of curses underneath her breath.Rose didn’t want to cause any rancor so she just nodded without a smile.

“Right,let’s move on to the last lady”Rose said and faces Leila who had no intention of talking.All the others in the room glance at Leila too and they got curious of why Leila was such in a foul mood.They had thought she wouldn’t care so much about Rose being the new queen which made them wonder what might have caused a bad blood between them.

“Leila,your highness”Leila gave in after she sees everyone’s attention were diverted on her.Rose smiles mockingly towards her and faces back the others.

“Very well then,I hope we all get along well”Rose said and hold up her wine glass.

“Shall we make a toast”Rose said while raising up the glass.The ladies reluctantly agreed and they all drank from the wine glass.The meeting was dismissed afterwards and Rose was about to head back to her room when Leila comes to her front.

“What do you think you are doing”Leila said while her fists were clenched.

“What do you mean”Rose said and tries to walk past her but Leila stands in her way.Rose raises up her eyes at Leila questioningly.

“Aren’t you forgetting that I will be your queen soon Leila,I could have your influential family ruin with your insolence”Rose warned while glaring at Leila who also glares back at her.Leila thought for a while and suddenly begins to laugh.

“Goodness,I have been stupid”Leila said amidst laughing which made Rose’s brows furrowed more.

“Look Rose,I will only let you off and keep your secrets if you grant me one request”Leila said and crosses her arms.

“Secrets?”It was now Rose’s turn to laugh.She laughs hysterically while holding out her hand to stop Leila from saying anything.Leila’s lips bit into each other as she watches Rose make a sham of her words.

“You have no secret of mine Leila,you know nothing about me”Rose laughs once again which upsetted Leila more.Leila humphs and kept her stance.

“You think if I tell people about your little scheme of getting rid of Jasmine,they wouldn’t believe me,look Rose,no one wants you here and everyone will gladly contribute in getting rid of you too”Leila said which Rose knows it’s pretty much true but she wouldn’t give in easily to Leila.

“Tell me Leila,what is it you need when you already have it all”Rose said.

“You don’t deserve to be anything Rose,not even a maid in the mansion but since you found your way into it anyways,I will let you off with being a maid and you make me queen as we have agreed on”Leila said and Rose couldn’t stop the laughs that escapes her lips again.

“You are crazy Leila,it’s like you don’t get it,I’m already to-be queen and nothing’s going to change that”Rose said and got tired of the conversation.She yearned to signify to Leila that she was bored.Leila was about to talk but shut off immediately.

“You can’t do anything Leila,call it quits”Rose said and didn’t wait for another word before leaving the room to go on to her room.

“That bitch”Leila sneers while she stood rigid,too angry to move.
