Chapter 56

The days has gone like nothing happened.It was two days after he had banished the Queen but Matt thinks less of everything except Rose which he couldn’t take his mind off of her.Rose had checked on him every minutes stating she had to make sure he wasn’t drawn in thought of his past wife’s betrayal.He loved it whenever she appears in front of him and he barely lets her out of his sight.It was long since he had those type of feelings towards anyone in particular.Having it towards Rose was surprising but he doesn’t see the need to stop himself,afterall she was his true lover if not for Jasmine’s bewitchment,she would have had his children.

The thought made his wife growls as he remembered the fact that Jasmine had beared children for him,the fact that she had once loved her and the fact that she completely fooled him.His brows were furrowed while he stares at the scene of the breeze that was gently blowing the leaves of the large oak tree few kilometers away from the window of his room.The night was quiet and the only sound he heard was that of the breeze.He heard a knock on the door but didn’t turn back.The person came in and he knew immediately that it was Rose.He had sensed her scent.

“Your highness”Rose said and Matt turned to face her.He stood rigid with his hands in the pocket of the loose trousers he had on.His face lit up when he sees how Rose had dressed.She had worn her favorite color,red,it is a knee length summer gown which was adorned with buttons at the front.

“Dinner has been served and everyone is waiting for you to come down”She said with a smile.

“Oh right,let’s go”he said and begins to walk with Rose trailing behind him.They got downstairs and Matt went over to take his seat,also did Rose.Rose sat opposite Jasmine’s children beside Becca who had looked suspiciously at Rose.She acknowledged their presence with a condescending sneer.She hated the fact that she still has to face Jasmine’s children every time she wants to eat.She planned on making Jasmine’s children regret they were born when she succeed on being the queen.

Karl saw Rose’s look of disdain and he immediately loses his appetite to eat.He had been disturbed with everything that’s going on in the mansion but he was still a kid to say anything as his words could get him in trouble.He doesn’t believe everything he heard his mother did but he couldn’t prove them wrong either.He stands up and turn to face Matt who had started devouring his meal.

“Please do excuse me your highness,I have less appetite”Karl said and Rose felt the need to stir trouble.

“Is it that you feel uncomfortable with me here and you hate the fact that it wasn’t your devious mother”Rose said and all eyes in the room turned to her.Matt looked up from his meal to gaze at Rose.Rose looks at Matt and tried to explain the reason she had said that.

“I sneered at me when I sat down just now,it was unruly of him to do that as a prince”Rose said to Matt who moved his dark gaze to Karl for explanation.

“No I didn’t do that your highness”Karl defended himself,confused of the situation he’s in at the moment.He sees his father’s brows furrowed more when he talked.

“Are you calling me a liar then”Rose said with her eyes wildened.Becca knew Rose was lying about what happened but it felt good to watch the scene so she didn’t interfere.

“No,I’m not,it’s what you did”Karl said and immediately regrets it.

“Karl!”he heard his father roared his name and fear gripped him.Melvin and Benny also jolted on their seats as they thought of how much trouble Karl had gotten himself into.

“Your highness,I swear I didn’t”Karl said while tears was brimming in the corner of his eyes.

“What,you are still insisting on that,so insolent”Rose yelled knowing fully well that Matt wouldn’t question her.

“Father,I…”Karl was about to talk but Matt’s voice stopped him.

“Take him to his room,lock his door and give him nothing till tomorrow night”Matt said sternly.

“Your highness,I didn’t….”Karl was still persistent on defending himself but a maid’s hand gripped him tightly on the arm and led him to his room.He was locked inside and the guards at his door was given the key to his room.He paced around his room while biting anxiously into his nails.Since he had always been obedient,he had never been treated in that manner and it felt strange and upsetting to have been accused and punished for what he never did.

Back at the dinning room,everywhere stayed quiet.Melvin and Benny are eating quietly and avoided to meet Rose’s gaze in order not to end up with their elder brother’s fate.Rose smiles satisfyingly as she joyfully eat her meal.She looks at Melvin and Benny while the thought of the start of her tyranny excites her.

Becca glanced at her and sighs.She had known Rose will surely betray them with the way she had behaved out of context.That night,Becca plans on calling a meeting with Rose and the third party so she could confront Rose.What upsets her more is Rose ever getting into her way of being the Luna.Her own plan was to take what is rightfully hers,that is the throne.She hated the fact that she had been kept hidden and sees her coming to the palace as an opportunity to get rid of Matt.She agreed on evicting Jasmine first because she sees Jasmine as an hindrance to her plan but now it seemed Rose will have to be evicted also so she could get what she wants.
