Chapter 19

"Queen Jasmine," She sneered, making Jasmine clench her fist with anger.

"That does sound nice, but let's see how long it lasts. It's no longer news that he doesn't fancy you anymore."

Her words hurt Jasmine so much, but she felt that it was better to be more composed, than act rash.

Rose had an ugly red stain on the top of her dress, just where the neckline and shoulder strap met, and was trying so hard to try and wipe it off with a damp paper towel.

Leila whom Jasmine hadn't seen at the ballroom was dressed in a short, clingy, maroon-colored dress that exposed her long legs which she wore high dominatrix-inspired black leather heels.

"Now, I know who my enemies are," She said, her eyes fixed on Leila's.

"You must think you're something now, but to everyone, you'll always be who we know you to be, a slave, rejected by even her father," Tose shot out.

Jasmine clenched her fist tightly. She was trying so hard, but seeing Rose brought back memories she'd rather not want to ever remember.

"My hand itches to strike you, but I wouldn't want to get my hands dirty. Just in case, there is a new strain of disease that can be transmitted through the merest touch. After all, if there is one to be discovered, you would be the first patient."

Rose's eyes rounded in shock and her lips which looked like they had some silicone injected into them curled down into an ugly pout. She was surprised at Jasmine's audacity. This wasn't the way she had always been and Leila hadn't told her anything either.

Rose had met Leila five years ago at a mutual friend's birthday party and they had bonded over a drink and that was when Leila began to talk about the naive Queen Jasmine.

They found out that they had the same enemy. Leila wanted to be Queen and it was only going to be possible with Jasmine out of the way. Rose, knowing that she could never be with Matt had decided that she just wanted Revenge for everything she had gone through which was caused by Jasmine.

Her eyes flashed furiously. "You bitch! You must think that I'm afraid of you because you're Queen now."

She then grinned widely. "You're not the only one intimately acquainted with him, you know.."

Hot, raging, raw jealousy streaked through Jasmine, but she pushed it back down. She wasn't going to let her evil stepsister know how her words had hurt her.

Rose wasn't still done. "You know, what we had, I and him, it was the absolute best. And that's why I know that no matter how sweet and affectionate he is being with you, it means nothing as he can turn it off at will."

Jasmine flared up. She couldn't hold back anymore. "If he can have any woman he wants, then why am I still married to him? Why hasn't he divorced me!, I'll tell you why, because at the end of the day, he knows what his heart wants.

Rose's lips twitched as though she was about to snap back but couldn't muster a word and instead, grabbed her bag and stormed out, leaving Jasmine and Leila, who followed immediately, not wanting to exchange words with the Queen.

Leila had wanted to stay low for a long time, but now her cover had been blown. She had been in love with Matt, ever since they were children. She was engaged to marry him, but for some reason, Matt never reciprocated the love and she was forced to get married to Duke, a man who she married to fulfill her father's wishes.

She had done whatever Rose asked of her and it seemed as though it was paying off as her spies reported to her that the King and Queen were like strangers now.

Jasmine let out a huge exhale as the women left. She knew Leila as a woman with a big mouth, but never did she thought that the woman would ally with her evil stepsister and try to break her marriage apart.

After freshening up, she left the lady's room and walked back to their table, to find Matt's chair empty.

Cara walked to her quickly. "I've been looking all over for you, Your Highness. His Highness wants me to tell you that he is in the Limo waiting and um," she averted her gaze.

"What else did he say?" Jasmine wondered why they had to leave when they literally just got here. They hadn't even properly greeted Alpha River.

"He said he's busy and doesn't have time to wait around all day."

"Fucking great!" Jasmine muttered and grabbed her bag, walking to the car with Cara, right behind her.

They found Matt in the car looking bored and pissed off. He didn't look up when they entered the car and just kept tapping away at his tablet.

The ride back was even more quieter than when they were going and Jasmine couldn't help but wonder if Rose could take her husband away from her again. She made a mental note to remove Leila from being one of her ladies. Unknown to her, the greater threat was someone else.

She glared at him, he carried himself as though he owned the world. He was typing furiously on his tablet and the light from the phone reflected on his face, making his face light up and glow in the most attractive way possible.

Jasmine thought that it didn't seem fair that he had everything. If only he were less handsome, then she wouldn't feel such pangs of pain that he didn't love her anymore.

"Matt," she called out and he replied with a grunt, without looking away from his tablet.

"What would it take for you to love me again?" She didn't care that her maid was there or that the king's personal bodyguard was there or even the driver.

"Nothing."
