Chapter 81.

After she had gotten outdoors,she heaves in the fresh air.She fixated her eyes on the garden that’s few feets away from where she stood.She recalled several times she had ran through the maze like gardens at night to let out her frustrations.She takes slow steps and begins to explore the gardens.She walks slowly through the gardens as she looks around in fascination.Some plants had been replaced from when she had been there.She is pleased to see the place had not withered away due to she and Matt’s intrude.

After about an hour of looking around,her nerves had calmed and she could form a smile easily on her face now.She thinks of going back indoor but was stopped by Jace who had just arrived from somewhere with Sam.

“Queen Jasmine,it’s quite the surprise to meet you out here”Jace said when he had walked closer to where Jasmine stood.

“Just wanted to get some fresh air”Jasmine said with a smile plastered on her face.

“That’s a relief,I’m sorry I wasn’t in to keep your company”Jace said.

“Not at all,what’s the relief?”Jasmine said,now uncomfortable with the space Jace had closed between them but she could not shift backwards to not make him misunderstand her.

“You know you’ve being on edge lately and I thought you needed the fresh air also,I had wanted to come see you to talk to you about it”Jace explained.

“Oh,but I’m alright,I just got fed up of staying in the room all day that was why I decided to find my way out of it today”Jasmine said and Jace nods,trying not to question her further.There was a brief silence between them,Jasmine’s mind had been occupied with what Fiona had told her while Jace was thinking of trying to make a move towards Jasmine but later decides not to because he knew she would think that he’s trying to take advantage of her because of the situation she’s in.

“I…”They both said at the same time and stopped abruptly to allow one another to speak first.

“You should go first”Jasmine said but Jace waved it off.

“No,you should,mine is less relevant”Jace said and Jasmine nods.

“I..”She paused as she hesitated to speak.

“Go on please”Jace said.

“I just wanted to ask you a question that seems rather…personal”Jasmine said while Jace watched intently into her honey brown eyes.He couldn’t help but keep getting mesmerized every time he set his eyes on her delicate facial features.

“It’s just a question,please do not hesitate”Jace reassured her.

“I thought of it which is odd but it’s good to be sure you know,I wondered if perhaps you’ve found your mate…I thought it will be so much inconvenient for her with my presence here which is disturbing even to me,I know the bad blood you had with my husband and it will be selfish of me to not ask the important things”Jasmine said.Jace’s thick brows furrowed as he wondered if Mina had crossed her boundaries as she always does to make Jasmine ever thought of questioning him about his mate.He tried to keep his face unaffected by her words as he chuckles to kill the tension that’s slowly building up.

“I see you cogitate a lot but not to worry your highness,none of that is in existence,if perhaps it is,I don’t think I would ever need it”Jace said,still wearing a smile on his lips.Jasmine frowned as she reminisces on his statement.She found it infuriating for him to have referred to his mate as a thing of no importance.She was annoyed but didn’t show it nor defend the unknown mate of his.She faked a smile and nods.

“Okay”she simply replied and wanted to excuse herself until Jace’s words made her stop.

“What made you think of that,I can’t help but be curious”Jace said and Jasmine recognizes the look on his face.She knows he must have thought someone had told her about his mate and Jasmine finds it suspicious for him to have reacted that way.She came to the conclusion that Jace had a secret he had been hiding from her.

“Nothing…you know,have got not lot of things to do which made me think a lot about lots of things”Jasmine smiles with her own choice of words but it was only out of humor.She wasn’t feeling like talking to him anymore at the moment.

“If you may excuse me,I would like to go get a little rest”Jasmine quickly say to avoid another topic arising.

“Oh right,sure”Jace said and Jasmine flashed him a smile more before turning to leave,the smile died down immediately she sees he couldn’t see her face any longer.She walked with long strides as she couldn’t wait to go embrace the soft beddings.She slams the door of her room behind her as soon as she entered.She sighs,wondering what had been bad with what Jace had said which made her angry.She cautioned herself as she reminds herself of the condition she’s in,she knows she’s not in the position to be angry about any of Jace’s misdeeds or choice of words,afterall,he’s her helper.She lands face down on her bed as she pulls the covers on her.At least she could do herself the favor of getting the comfort of the beddings when her life had gotten real messed up.She closes her eyes to take a nap but immediately opens it when the image of the girl she had seen earlier in the corridor appeared in front of her.She wondered who she was as she sits upright,laying her back on the white wooden bed frame,occupying herself with thoughts she wants to get rid of but couldn’t see herself doing that.
