Chapter 65

“When my father was alive,he was abusive and my mother had no say in whatever he choosed to do”Laura wants to be clear about everything with Maria.She wants them to be as sincere as possible to each other.Maria’s eyes stared intently at Laura as she listened to Laura speaks.

“The pain was too much and I didn’t have anyone else to help,every day felt like hell and I just wanted to escape it then I did,I crossed the thin line and ran far away so he wouldn’t find me”She paused and continues.

“I ran into a man’s hand,his name was Charlie,he took me to his home and there I met Eric,Charlie’s son.Charlie was a countryside farmer,he wasn’t rich but he doesn’t hesitate in taking me in.From that day onward,I stayed with them,though Charlie asked me many times where my parents were but I lied,I told him they died and I had run away from my negligent Uncle.He told me he was going to meet him but I begged him not to.I lied about everything to him and kept my identity hidden until the night I got my wolf” Laura finds it hard to be telling Maria about her past.She hadn’t told anyone,even her mother.

“Eric saw me and he kept it a secret,we were of same age and knowing my secret made us so close,siblings at first but we later became lovers….well that was after five years of staying with them,Charlie died not long after which left us both together,we only had each other….”She paused again and Maria was getting impatient with Laura’s elocution.She didn’t complain but only eyed her friend to continue.

“Eric loved every little thing about me,even though he was a human,he wasn’t scared of me but I left him,after I gave birth to our baby girl I…I foolishly thought I couldn’t think of the place as home forever,I thought…..I needed to leave to where I belonged”Laura felt tears stain her cheeks.Whenever she recalls how foolish she was,she often cries.

“I was never there when she took her first step…I…I was not there when she grew her first tooth,I don’t even know anything about them anymore”Laura broke into heavy sobs.

“Look Maria,the only reason I’m going to the human world is to find Eric and my daughter,I need to find them”Laura said and Maria hugs her firmly.

“It’s okay Laura,everyone makes wrong decisions once or twice,it’s only natural”Maria said quietly referring mostly to her own dark secret.She wondered if she could just tell her friend also just like Laura just told her her own kept secret.

Laura calmed down after some minutes of sobbing.Maria went over to the little spaced kitchen to get her a glass of water.She gulps down all of it at once and heaves.

“You just need to make the call tomorrow Maria,then we will head to my destination”Laura said and Maria nods.

“I will Laura,I will help you in finding your child”Maria said.

“Thank you”Laura mutters to Maria who nods again.

Maria on the other hand kept have a urge to tell her friend about her secret too but she doesn’t know where to start from.She stares at the floor while her mind flashed back to the unruly moments.She remembered when she had a lover,that was before she got married to Jasmine’s father.She had known Frederico also then,her parents were in Federico’s favor but she had someone she truly loved.She had gone on many night fares with him.She would sneak out of her parent’s house often because her parent’s were against her seeing him.She had been happy with him but that stopped the moment her lover asked her to stop coming to see him.He told her he had met his mate and he couldn’t see himself rejecting her.

That time,Maria was pregnant with Rose.She had gone that night to share the good news with him but unfortunately for her,he ended their love affair.She had been broken but the only thing she thought at the moment was finding a way to keep the pregnancy safe.She needed to make a plan and she thought of a credible plan.She had gone to meet with Federico one night and then made sure they made love.Then,she had the chance of pushing the pregnancy on Federico.Federico who had loved her accepted without hesitation.The only reason she despised getting married to him was because he had a child.She wanted all attentions on her own daughter only.She made sure Federico finds fault in his daughter all the time and at the end she won in Jasmine not getting any paternal care.

“Maria”Laura called and Maria jolted out of her thoughts.

“What are you thinking about”Laura said with furrowed brows.

“Nothing….”Maria muttered.

“But I called your name thrice before you answered”Laura said.Maria only shrugs awkwardly.

“Spill it Maria,are you hiding something else from me”Laura said while her eyes were crept.

“Oh no Laura,there’s nothing else to hide”Maria smiles sheepishly.Laura gazed at Maria without saying nothing.

“Seriously Laura”Maria said to reassure her friend she wasn’t keeping any other secrets.

“Okay”Laura said while nodding.

“I need to go use the restroom”Laura said and gets up.After Maria saw she had exited the living room,she heaves out a sigh of relief.

“Jeez”she muttered to herself.She shifted sevarally on the sofa while thinking of whether or not to tell her friend.

“I can’t…I mustn’t”She said to herself as she bites on her nails anxiously.She had no idea Laura had stood watching her.

“Okay Maria,are you worried about calling him”Laura said while looking worriedly Maria.

“A little but don’t worry,I will deal with it”Maria smiled reassuringly to Laura.She needed an excuse so Laura will stop doubting her.
