Chapter 27

Dante's POV
Deciding to contact her, I set up a video call. Seeing her face on the screen always gave me peace and encouragement. “Hello, Aurora. What are you doing?” I asked, waiting expectantly.
Her face appeared on the screen, and her smile seemed to radiate light into my workspace. “Hello, Dante! I’m preparing dinner. A little bit of a hassle, but I’m fine. How about you?” she replied cheerfully, although I could see the fatigue in her eyes.
“I’m still in the office for a while. There are a few things that need to be finished, so I might be home late. Sorry, honey,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm.
Aurora’s face looked a little gloomy, but she quickly got up. “It’s okay, Dante. I understand. I was just worried that you were too burdened. But, if you’re going to be home late, make sure to eat something, okay?”
A warm feeling flowed through me at her concern. “Sure, honey. I’ll remember. What about you? Is everything okay at home?” I asked, worried about her and the kids’ health.
“I was preparing food, and I think the babies are starting to move around a little bit more. They must be curious about the sounds outside,” she replied, her smile returning as she rubbed her belly.
Hearing that made me feel a little calmer. “I’m glad to hear that. I hope they stay active and healthy. I can’t wait to get home and see you,” I said, hoping to be back in their arms soon.
After a few minutes of talking, we shared our feelings and supported each other. Even though I had to go back to work, hearing her voice made me feel stronger and ready to face the challenges ahead.
“Okay, come home soon, Dante. I look forward to seeing you,” Aurora said before we hung up.
“Yes, honey. I hope you and the babies are doing well. See you later!” I replied before ending the call.
Excited, I returned to my work, determined to finish it soon and go home, where love and family awaited me.
The marriage I had with Aurora was indeed a quick marriage, but as time went by, I realized more and more that it was the right decision. I used to plan to marry her sister, but somehow circumstances brought us both to this unexpected path—holding Aurora’s hand and building a life together.
Aurora is a kind woman, full of love and warmth. She has incredible strength, even in the midst of all the complications we face. Although she sometimes seems spoiled and tends to rely on me for some things—after all, she is the youngest in her family—I never saw it as a weakness. On the contrary, it only added to her charm.
I appreciate every aspect of her personality, from her sincerity and vulnerability to her strength and courage in facing challenges. Being the center of attention in her family certainly made her accustomed to receiving abundant affection, but that did not diminish her determination and determination when we faced difficult situations.
“Dante, you know, I will do my best to be a good wife and mother,” she would sometimes say, making me smile. In my mind, those were not just words, but a sincere commitment that she offered.
Realizing that our marriage was built on togetherness with all our uniqueness, I felt the strength of our relationship even more. Although this marriage came so quickly and perhaps not according to plan, I feel lucky to have Aurora by my side.
Every second with her makes me understand that love can grow in unexpected circumstances. That even though it was not planned at first, we have the possibility to build a future together, stronger and full of love.
I believe that our marriage, despite its lightning start, will be a beautiful journey, and we will walk side by side with open hearts, ready to face whatever comes.
At exactly 10 pm, I finally arrived home. When I stepped inside, a calm atmosphere enveloped me. My gaze immediately fell on Aurora who was sleeping in her room, wrapped in a blanket peacefully. Her beautiful face, even though her eyes were closed, still radiated elegance. In an instant, I remembered how similar she was to her older sister, Molly. In the past, I loved Molly so much—a feeling that filled my days with hope. However, as time went by and the journey I took with Aurora, that love had shifted completely to my wife.
“Why can I feel it? Even though my past was so precious, now everything I have is here, beside me,” I thought.
Suddenly, Aurora’s soft voice broke my reverie. “Did you just get home?” she asked, her eyes half-open, trying to adjust to the light of the room.
“Yes, I just got here,” I replied, approaching the bed and sitting on the edge of it. A sense of longing and gratitude filled my heart when I saw her. “Sorry, I came home late. There were a lot of things I had to finish at the office.”
Aurora nodded slowly, understanding that sometimes work could be all-consuming. “I was worried you wouldn’t come home,” she said with a soft smile, her eyes still sparkling despite her tiredness.
“No way, honey. I’ll always come back for you and our kids,” I said as I reached for her hand, holding it gently. “You know how important you are to me, right?”
She smiled, and her smile made my heart flutter even more. “I know. And I’m so grateful to have you by my side, Dante.”
Lately, many things have changed in my life, but one thing remains constant: the love I share with Aurora. Now, seeing her by my side, I feel content and more than ready to face the future with her presence.
“How are the babies? Are they active tonight?” I asked, curious about how they were doing.
“Yeah, they even seem to know when you’re home,” Aurora replied cheerfully. “They’ve been moving around a lot more lately.”
My heart fluttered hearing that. This was a journey full of hope, and I couldn’t wait to welcome them.
“Let’s talk about everything after you rest, okay?” I said softly, letting her return to the embrace of the dream world before I left, feeling grateful to have such a deep and precious love.
