Chapter 45
Aurora's POV
We began to chat while playing with our energetic babies. Feeling that everything had been so familiar, yet so new, I began to feel the support and love around me. Although this journey had been full of obstacles, I now knew that I had a family ready to help me through this difficult time.
With Molly around, my hope for this situation felt lighter. I felt stronger to support Dante and our children, and that we would get through this by supporting each other.
“Where have you been? I tried looking for you, but you weren’t there. I also saw your post that you were at the beach with a guy,” I asked, with suspicion and a little worry in my voice.
Molly looked a little surprised, then replied, “Oh, you don’t have to worry. I just… moved around. It was my boyfriend.”
Hearing her explanation, I felt even stranger. There was something in the way she said those words that made me feel a little uncomfortable. Her eyes didn’t quite meet mine, there was a sense of avoidance that made me feel like I needed to investigate further.
For some reason, I felt like I wanted to know more about what was really going on. Why was she moving around? Why didn’t she tell me before? With my current situation full of problems, her presence should have been a breath of fresh air, but something was off.
I turned to my mother who was sitting not far from us. She seemed calm, but didn’t reveal anything about Molly. My curiosity grew. “Mom, did you know about this?” I asked my mother, feeling anxious about the doubts she harbored.
My mother just shook her head and replied softly, “Let it be, Aurora. The most important thing now is that we support you in this situation.” Even so, I could see my mother’s eyes filled with the same question.
My strength and determination, coupled with my curiosity, made me want to continue digging for information. “Molly, don’t you want to tell me more about your friend? I’m just curious. It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other and I want to know about your life,” I said, trying to convey concern and curiosity without being judgmental.
Molly looked a little taken aback. “There’s really nothing important to tell me. He’s just a good friend of mine,” she replied, her voice hesitant.
I sensed something was wrong. “Molly, I feel like there’s something else going on. If there’s anything you need to talk about, I’m here for you, you know that,” I said, trying to project warmth and support.
She took a deep breath and looked confused. “Maybe later, Aurora. I just need a little time to adjust to everything. I’m really glad I’m here to help, but I’m not quite ready to talk about anything else yet,” she said quietly.
Maybe my mother was right, that the most important thing right now was to keep things under control. But I also felt like there was more to talk about and couldn’t hide my curiosity. With small steps, I resolved to be kind to her and perhaps find a way to understand her better without putting too much pressure on her.
Later, while focusing on my family, I would look for opportunities to have a more intimate conversation with Molly. I hoped to open her up again and find out where this strangeness really came from.
Exhaustion overwhelmed me, and I felt like I really needed some time to rest. After giving the children to my mother and Molly, I found a comfortable spot on the couch and began to fall asleep.
However, suddenly my mother’s voice woke me up, “Aurora! Aurora!”
I woke up confused and sleepy. “What’s wrong, Mom?” I asked, still groping in a half-conscious state.
“Something’s wrong. Roline’s gone!” My mother’s voice was full of anxiety and panic.
My heart jumped into my throat. “What? Roline’s gone?” Startled, I felt as if the world had suddenly collapsed around me. How could this be? “Mom, how could this happen?”
“You just realized. Molly said she took Roline out for a walk, but now they’re gone,” my mother replied, her face clouded with panic.
Panic struck me. Molly? Why did she take Roline without permission? This was absolutely crazy. In a rush, I tried to calm myself down and immediately thought of the next step. “We have to make sure where Roline is. I’ll check the CCTV,” I said, running towards the living room where the CCTV panel was installed.
When I first checked the recording, I couldn’t hide my anxiety. If Molly really took her away without my knowledge, this could be a big problem. However, after playing some of the recordings, I found no trace of Roline or Molly.
I continued to scroll through the recordings quickly, trying to find the provisions of when they left the house. My eyes panicked when the recordings showed no suspicious activity in front of our house. “Oh my God, where are they?” I muttered to myself, becoming increasingly uneasy.
Then, I decided to go out and talk to the security guard who was on duty in front of the house. “Sir, did you see Molly take Roline out?” I asked, hoping to get some information.
The security guard shook his head, “Sorry, ma’am. I haven’t seen them leave. Everything is quiet here.”
Despair was penetrating my heart. “Where are they?” I thought.
My panic was growing. “Mom, have you tried contacting Molly?” I asked, hoping that maybe she could explain.
“No. Let’s try and find her,” my mother replied.
I began to feel a thick fog enveloping my mind. How could this be happening? Remembering everything that had happened in the past week made me feel down. I stood in the middle of my house, feeling like I had lost everything.
Cautiously, praying in my heart that Roline was safe, I knew I had to do something. There was no time to sit around. Finding Roline was my top priority, and I could only hope that everything would be resolved as soon as possible.
