Chapter 87

Aurora's POV
Uncertainty haunted my mind as the days passed and Dante still hadn't come home. My heart felt heavy with anxiety that continued to settle. The weather outside supported my restless feelings. To distract myself, I decided to play with the kids. We played in the backyard, trying to enjoy the little moments even though my mind wasn't fully present there.
"Mom, let's play hide and seek!" Ronald shouted excitedly, followed by Roline and Roland's laughter. I forced a smile and tried too hard to make them happy at times like this. Hoping that by ensuring their safety, all the sadness and anxiety would subside a little.
However, the night grew late and peace never came. As the kids slept soundly in their beds, the feeling of restlessness gripped my heart even more. Finally, as I was drowning in anxiety and loneliness, my phone suddenly vibrated, breaking the silence of the night.
When I looked at the phone screen, I saw the name of Dante's secretary, and my feelings became even more anxious as I answered the phone. "Hello?" My voice trembled.
"Aurora, I'm sorry to bother you. I have bad news. Dante fainted in the office and is currently being taken to the hospital," said his secretary in a worried tone.
I was stunned, as if my world had collapsed in an instant. "What? Why is that?" I asked, trying to control my voice that was starting to tremble.
"He's been working too much and not getting enough rest. Really, I'm so worried," she answered, and panic began to creep into me.
Without thinking, I grabbed my car keys and immediately rushed to the hospital. On the way, my mind was filled with fear and worry. Imagining Dante lying weak, I prayed that everything would be okay.
Upon arriving at the hospital, I looked for information about Dante's condition. With a pounding heart, I approached the registration desk and asked. After waiting for a while, I was finally allowed to see him.
When I entered the room, seeing him lying on the hospital bed, a sense of devastation enveloped my heart. He was hooked up to a monitor and looked tired, but his face calmed as I approached. “Dante,” I called softly, holding back tears.
“Aurora?” His voice was weak, but his smile was still there, though not as full as usual. “I’m sorry you worried…”
I felt mixed feelings. “No, it’s all my fault for not asking more about your work. We should have helped each other out more. Why didn’t you get some rest?” I asked, my voice shaking with emotion.
“Everything feels so urgent, and I don’t want to let anyone down,” he replied, regret in his voice.
“I didn’t want to see you like this. We’ll get through this together. Now focus on getting better. I’m here for you,” I said sincerely, holding his hand tightly.
Seeing Dante lying weak in his hospital bed, all the sadness and worry only strengthened my resolve to make sure he got the right treatment and rest. I couldn’t let him sacrifice his health for his job. In this moment, I truly realized how important it is to support and take care of each other.
“Dante, you need to get some rest. I’m sorry you’ve been working so hard that you haven’t paid attention to your health,” I said gently, trying to soothe him as I rubbed the back of his hand.
He looked up at me with tired eyes, and though his smile might have been thin, I could see the gratitude on his face. “I’m sorry I made you worry like this. I just feel like I have a lot of responsibilities to bear.”
“I understand,” I replied, “but your health is the most important thing. Without you being healthy, none of this means anything. We need to take care of each other.”
For the next few hours, I stayed by his side, making sure he was comfortable. The doctor came in to explain his condition. “Dante is suffering from severe stress fatigue. We will provide the necessary treatment, but he must follow the instructions to rest,” he said firmly.
After the doctor left, I asked Dante to take a break from work for a while. “We can deal with everything that’s happening now. Let others help while you focus on your recovery. I’m doing this for us and for the kids.”
Dante nodded slowly, but I could see the heaviness in his eyes. “Aurora, I don’t want you to feel burdened by all of this.”
“Nothing can make me feel burdened because this is a mutual decision,” I said firmly. “We are family. We support each other, especially in difficult times like this. Don’t worry, everything will work out.”
Seeing her finally get some rest gave me a little relief. In my heart, I vowed to protect the quality of our time together and keep our relationship strong. Making time to support each other amidst the busyness of life were some of the most important things we had to prioritize.
Over the next few days, I helped her get enough rest and watch her diet. I also made sure the kids weren’t anxious about the situation; they could feel reassured by the presence of their parents supporting each other. When we got together, I told them that Dad was resting so he could get back to being healthy and strong.
Throughout this journey, I was confident that our love would carry us through all the challenges. One by one, we would face each difficulty by relying on each other, trying to maintain a balance between work and health, and focusing on the happiness of our family.
With a lighter mood, I thought about our future while slowly enjoying the remaining time in the hospital, accompanying Dante until he fully recovered. In this moment, I felt so grateful for the love and support we had, and the commitment to take care of each other.
While Dante was sleeping, I saw his phone ringing. Curious, I picked it up and saw that it was his secretary. Without thinking, I answered it while trying to act calm.
“Hello, this is Aurora,” I said, feeling a little anxious.
