Chapter 41
Aurora's POV
I checked Roland's body temperature with a thermometer. His body temperature did feel higher than normal. "Roland, honey. We will make you feel better as soon as possible," I said softly while rubbing his head.
Carefully, I gave him the dose of fever-reducing medicine that had been prepared, while making sure he was comfortable. "When you feel better, Mama will read you a story," I said, trying to give encouragement and attention even though my heart was still anxious.
After giving him the medicine, the babysitter and I waited a few minutes to see his reaction. "We have to keep monitoring his body temperature and see how he is in the next few hours," said the babysitter, looking worried but trying to stay calm.
I felt warm when I saw Roland lying down, seeking warmth. Taking care of his weakness and discomfort was my top priority right now. “This is part of our journey, Roland. Mama will take care of you until you feel better,” I said while hugging him and looking into his eyes.
Despite my anxiety, I tried to stay calm for the sake of my children. In this situation, I knew how important it was to stay calm and provide loving support. This was not only a physical challenge, but also an emotional challenge as a mother in maintaining the health of her children.
With full hope, I realized that with the right love and attention, Roland would recover from his fever soon. And as a mother, I was ready to face any challenges that came up.
I gave Roland medicine with full hope that his fever would go down soon. However, as I tried to distract myself from this anxiety, my phone suddenly rang. When I saw Dante’s name on the screen, I felt a little relieved. Maybe he could give me the encouragement and support I needed right now.
“Hey, I feel uneasy. Is there a problem at home?” Dante asked with a worried tone.
“Yes, Roland has a fever. But I’ve given him medicine,” I replied, trying to sound calm even though my heart was shaking.
“Okay, I’ll be home soon,” he said, his voice calm but I could feel a little speed in his tone.
Ever since you promised to come home soon, I’ve been waiting with hope and worry. Every second was painful, and seeing Roland lying weakly didn’t ease my worry. I kept monitoring his temperature and hoping the medicine I was given would work soon.
However, time passed, and Dante still hadn’t come home. Anxiety began to cloud my mind, and as I was thinking about his safety, suddenly a voice behind me reported that there had been an accident on the road leading to our house.
“Oh my God,” I exclaimed, panic hitting me. Panic enveloped me, as the information sank in. My body shook, and my instincts seemed to tell me that this wasn’t good news.
In the midst of that panic, I tried my best to stay focused on Roland. “Calm down, Aurora. You have to be calm,” I whispered to myself as I moved closer to the baby who was lying weakly.
Holding Roline in one hand, I frantically dialed Dante’s phone, hoping he would pick up. “Dante, please answer!” I prayed in my heart. Every second felt like hours as I waited and hoped that everything would be okay.
A moment later, my phone rang again. It was a call from the hospital. “Hello, this is the hospital. We need information about the patient who had an accident. We will take him for further treatment,” said the voice on the other end.
All the anxiety and fear surged in my heart. With a trembling voice, I answered, “Yes, I am Dante’s wife. Is he okay?”
“Wait a minute, we will check the latest news,” they answered. I felt my throat go dry. My feelings were uncertain and I felt cold from within.
My prayers echoed in my heart, hoping that my husband would be safe and could go home soon. As the feeling of panic grew, I knew that I had to stay calm for Roland and Roline. In this difficult moment, the love and strength I had had to be used to get through this difficult situation.
While waiting for further news, my heart prayed that God would keep my husband safe and that everything would be fine again soon.
After waiting anxiously, I finally made sure that Dante was in the hospital. I then left my three children with the babysitter and my mother, making sure they were safe and well-cared for.
My feelings were mixed between hope and fear as I went to the hospital. Every step I took felt heavier, remembering what I might encounter there. When I finally arrived and entered the hospital, the noise around me seemed to be muffled, only the sound of my heartbeat could be heard loudly.
As soon as I arrived in the emergency room, I saw him. Dante was lying on the bed, unconscious with quite severe injuries decorating his body. Seeing his weak body made my heart jolt. "Oh my God, why did this happen?" I sighed, tears suddenly flowing down my cheeks.
I ran to him, the sounds around me seemed to disappear as I focused on the figure lying there. "Dante! Honey, wake up!" I shouted, reaching for his hand gently. I could see doctors and nurses walking back and forth, performing examinations and interventions.
Tears continued to flow as I felt helplessness and overwhelming anxiety. “Please, give him the best care!” my heart begged in the silence shattered by sadness.
Someone from the medical team approached. “We are giving him immediate treatment. There are some wounds that need to be treated, but he is stable. We will do our best for him,” the doctor said in a calm tone.
“Doc, how is he? Will he be okay?” I asked, trying to stay calm even though my eyes were filling with tears.
