Chapter 57

Aurora's POV
Before long, my gaze fell on the figure of a girl who looked thin in the distance. I held my breath, trying to make sure if I was the one who had been missing the figure in front of my eyes for a long time. Oh my God, was that my daughter, Roline? In an instant, my spirits were lifted again, and I immediately ran to her.
“Roline!” I cried out in emotion, grabbing her in a warm hug. “Oh my love, I finally found you!” Tears began to stream down my face, indicating all the pent-up emotions that had been boiling all this time.
However, as I hugged her, Molly stopped me. “Wait, Aurora! There’s something I want to talk to you about,” she said, a hint of prohibition in her voice.
“Oh yes, since Dante has been my husband for a week now, I want him to live with me,” Molly said in a firm tone, making me pause for a moment. “I have to make sure I will have a child with him.”
Molly’s gaze immediately confused and angered me. “What?” I replied, my patience beginning to waver. All my hopes of finding my daughter seemed right but it was too late when I learned that Roline should not have been separated from me.
“Calm down, Aurora. I gave Roline to you. And now I need Dante.” she replied with a painful firmness.
My heart felt broken. “Dante, be with her. She is also your wife now?” I cried, urging Molly to understand the pain I felt.
Roline looked confused between the two of us, her face looking tired and thin. “Mommy?” her voice trembled softly, and it made me even more touched. “Mommy!”
Hearing her voice, my heart beat fast. I wanted to pick Roline up without hesitation, no matter what happened. However, seeing Molly standing between us stopped me.
“I don’t want any trouble here,” Molly asserted, her voice trying to neutralize the situation. “We can talk calmly.”
But the calm she offered felt impossible. Despair flooded and my hope seemed to be in danger of being taken away. “Dante. I trust you!” I said confidently.
Molly smiled sarcastically, looking more powerful. “If Roline goes with you, Dante will be with me. Not for long. Just a week.”
The mixed feelings caused tears to flow down my face. How could this situation become so complicated? All I wanted was to hug my daughter and take her home. But my husband couldn’t be with me either.
“I hope you’re happy!” I said, my heart full of hope and love. In this chaos, I knew that there was no way to give up. Roline had to come back, and I would not back down.
With a heavy heart, I left Dante there, choosing not to get involved further in this complicated situation. Although they were now legally a married couple, my heart was only thinking about Roline's safety and well-being. Every step towards the house brought new hope, but the worry for my daughter's condition could not be ignored.
As I carried Roline in my arms, I couldn't hold back the tears seeing how thin she was. Oh my God, I couldn't bear to see her in this condition. She should have grown up well, happy, and healthy. This challenge and the situation she was in made me determined to fix it immediately.
To make sure she was okay, I knew the first step to take was to take her to the hospital. When we arrived home, my father and mother were there, ready to help with whatever was needed. "Come on, let's go to the hospital," I said almost breathlessly, filled with anxiety and worry.
"I'll help," my mother said, her hand grabbing Roline's, giving a gentle hug that made Roline feel more comfortable. “Let’s focus on Roline first, Aurora,” she continued, her eyes full of concern.
We tried to keep Roline safe as much as possible. On the way to the hospital, I occasionally glanced between my father and mother. They looked at me with emotion, reflecting their feelings about what had happened. None of us had any doubt about how important Roline’s condition was at this moment.
After arriving at the hospital, Roline was immediately examined by the doctor. I waited anxiously, hoping the doctor would confirm that she was okay. Every minute felt like hours. When the doctor finally came out, I tried to calm myself and listen carefully to the information.
“Roline is dehydrated and malnourished,” the doctor explained. “We will give her treatment and IVs to restore her health. But overall, she is in stable condition. Don’t worry, she will be fine with the right care.”
Hearing the news, I breathed a sigh of relief. Although it was quite worrying, there was nothing happier than knowing that she could still be saved and would recover. I immediately went to stroke Roline’s hair gently, trying to give her all the affection I could feel at the moment.
“Thank you, God. Roline, we are all here for you,” I said with hope and sincerity, feeling how my child is the light in my life that will never fade.
My father and mother were by my side, providing emotional support to make sure everything went well. At the hospital, we focused on the journey home that would begin after Roline received the treatment she needed.
In these difficult times, our family came together, and I promised myself to protect and fight for Roline’s health and happiness, no matter what obstacles might come our way in the future.
“Your daughter is malnourished. You could say she is stunted,” the doctor said, and every word was like a hammer hitting my heart. A sense of devastation enveloped me instantly. What a burden my little girl must have to face.
I never imagined this situation would happen. Not only did I miss her so much, but I also imagined how she had lived her life in such poor conditions. And at that moment, all the other negative thoughts flooded back into my mind—thinking about my husband who was now with another woman, even though she was my own sister.
