Chapter 56

Aurora's POV
Her shout made me think. We will not sacrifice our principles or our feelings. Roline must come home, but we must do this right, not through manipulation.
Silently, I began to formulate the dice of different steps and believed that love for my daughter would lead us to a better decision. As we faced the inevitable tension, the hope of finding Roline again still churned in our hearts. We would fight—together as a family.
Dante looked at me deeply, a sign that he was struggling with his feelings. “But this is about marriage, Aurora,” he said in a hesitant tone.
“This is also about Roline,” I answered firmly, feeling the depth of my love and longing for our daughter. “She is our child, Dante.” Deep down, I knew there was no other choice left. I was willing to sacrifice anything for Roline, even if it meant taking an unusual step.
After a few moments of silence, Dante finally nodded. “Okay, I’ll agree…” he said softly, but there was a heavy tone in his voice.
However, Molly didn’t stop there. “But not only that. I also need money,” she said in a firm voice, as if to emphasize her position.
Instantly, the tension between us grew. In this situation, everyone seemed to be carrying the burden of complex feelings. “Hand over Roline first, then I will give you whatever you need,” Dante said in a firm voice, showing his courage to protect our daughter.
Molly seemed unfazed. “No way, marry me first,” she replied, clearly showing that she wanted to use this situation to gain strength in her decision.
Frustration hit me. This was not a decision that should have been Molly’s to make. Roline was our child, and no one could use our daughter as a bargaining chip for their own gain.
“I can’t do this, Molly!” I cried, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to overflow. “We will not sacrifice Roline any further for an insincere commitment.”
Dante added, “There are many ways to earn money and support you. We are willing to help, but not like this. Roline will not be an exchange for marriage.”
Molly looked frustrated, but there were lines of tension on her face. “You don’t understand how difficult this is for me. I want to give Roline back, but there is time and effort involved. I deserve the best, too.”
Here, all the feelings collided. On one hand, could I protect my family and what was most precious? On the other, the pain that this situation had become so complicated was excruciating.
“If marriage is the only way to get Roline back, then we will do it,” I said firmly, vowing not to let this decision change our desire to see our daughter back in our arms.
With all the wishes and hopes woven into my words, this time I was determined to fight for Roline. We would not back down and let this situation drag on. In front of everyone, we had to stay together—rationally, lovingly, and united as a family until everything was resolved.
The next day, I could not have imagined the reality that I was facing—Dante and Molly were finally officially married. This process happened quickly, like fate demanding me to accept a situation that had never been imagined before. Becoming the wife of the man who was previously my husband and sharing a husband with my own sister was very difficult for me to face.
I felt a mixture of anxiety and heartache as I watched them stand side by side at the altar. On one hand, I knew this plan was a way to bring Roline back, but on the other hand, my heart felt it was an unbalanced sacrifice. My father and mother tried to strengthen my thoughts and feelings. They were also surprised by the path I had chosen and always wanted to support me, even though it wasn’t an easy decision to make.
When the wedding ceremony was over and the two of them were officially husband and wife, I took a deep breath before approaching them. Holding the bouquet of flowers, I tried to stay strong. “Congratulations on your wedding,” I said, my voice heavy but firm.
Molly, looking happy, gave me a sweet smile. However, I couldn’t help but think about what was supposed to follow.
“Now keep your promise to give me Roline,” I said, looking at them both seriously with hope and determination.
Dante looked at me, as if feeling the pressure of the situation. “Aurora, I…” he looked confused, considering my words.
Molly hugged the bouquet of flowers with fear in her eyes, indicating that this might not be easy for her either. “I want us all to be happy, Aurora. I am willing to give Roline back. Let’s talk more about how we can do this,” she said hopefully.
However, my pain was too deep. “We can’t wait any longer. I’ve waited for over a year! Roline needs her mom. We all need closure,” I said, fighting back the tears that threatened to fall.
They looked at me, and there was a tension between us. Would this long and difficult journey ever end? It was a heavy thing to hope and mix hope with pain.
“Okay, let’s figure out how we can make it work. I’ll do my best to make sure everything works out,” Dante said, indicating that he felt the weight on my heart.
Nodding in vulnerability, I prayed that this would be the way for Roline to return. In my heart, the hope of seeing my daughter was rekindled—and that this time, all our efforts would pay off. We had to fight together again for our family, even in this very complicated situation.
After the wedding, Molly took me to an apartment. But when we arrived, I was asked to wait in the lobby. My heart was pounding, uncertainty enveloping me. The longer I waited, the stronger the anxiety bit into me.
