Chapter 39
Aurora's POV
“Mommy, can you help me for a moment?” I asked my mother as she was beside me, helping to care for the other babies while I nursed one.
“Of course, honey. I am always here to help you,” my mother replied warmly, helping me lovingly as I tried to steady the three babies around me.
Seeing all the love and attention from my mother and the people closest to me makes me feel even luckier. The rhythm of this life, despite its challenges, is filled with precious moments that cannot be replaced. Now I understand more about the true meaning of a mother's love and sacrifice.
On this journey, I know that every challenge and every moment of exhaustion will pay off with the happiness of seeing my three children grow and develop with the love we give. And even though there are difficult days that we have to go through, I am sure that everything is part of this beautiful journey—becoming a mother.
One month has passed since the birth of our three babies. The wound from my cesarean section has healed, and I feel more able to do normal activities. However, even though I am physically better, there is a feeling of anxiety that continues to haunt my mind and heart.
Today, my mother said that she will go home. For the past month, her presence has meant a lot to me. She has always been here to help and support me, and now it feels like I have lost half of the strength I had. Even though I am already a mother, I really want her to always accompany me in this house. I was slowly learning to take care of my three babies, but without my mother around, I felt a little anxious.
When I shared my feelings with Dante, he tried to reassure me. “It’s okay, I have me and the babysitter to take care of you, Aurora. You’re not alone,” he said, holding my hand.
Hearing his words made me feel a little better, but the sense of loss was still there. “I know Dante, but it feels different. Mom introduced me to so many things after I gave birth. Without her here, I feel less confident,” I expressed my mounting worries.
Dante nodded understandingly. “It’s natural to feel that way, honey. You’ve just gone through a big experience in your life. It’s normal to feel a lack of support. But remember, I’m here for you. We’ll get through this together, and you have a babysitter ready to help.”
“Thank you, Dante. I just need some time to adjust,” I replied, trying to ease the anxiety in my heart.
When the time came and my mother was ready to leave, I felt a sadness well up inside me. “Mom, thank you for all your help and support so far. I don’t know how I could have done this without you,” I said, hugging her tightly.
“Don’t worry, Aurora. Motherhood is a beautiful journey, and you will do well. I am here for you, whenever you need me,” she replied, her voice soft and reassuring.
As my mother left, I watched her with a heavy heart. But when I returned home and saw Dante and the babysitter ready to help, I realized that I was not alone.
This was a new step in our journey. While there would be challenges ahead, I was confident that with Dante’s support, I could do it. Slowly, I began to learn to believe in myself, knowing that as a mother, I was strong and capable. With love and dedication, hope and happiness would continue to flow into our lives.
I began to wonder. So far, since I was married, Dante’s mother had never been here. It felt like something was missing, especially now that we had three babies. “Why isn’t your mother here?” I asked Dante, looking at him curiously.
“Maybe she’s busy,” he replied calmly. “Don’t worry, Aurora. She’ll come sometime.”
But my thoughts were wandering in another direction. Dante’s mother’s absence made me worried. Was there another reason behind all this? Maybe she didn’t like me, even though I knew there had never been any tension between us.
I remember back then when Dante’s mother had forced us to get married because Molly—my sister—had run away from her responsibilities. Did she see me as an unwanted replacement? I knew it was unfair to think that way, but the feeling of anxiety was eating away at me.
“Dante, sometimes I wonder… does your mother not like me? I know she forced us to get married…” I said, my voice shaking. I felt open enough to Dante to share my doubts.
Dante looked at me seriously, then shook his head. “Aurora, you don’t have to worry about that. My mother may seem strict and strict, but she loves her family very much. She must be happy to have her grandchildren, and she probably just planned the right time to come. If there was something wrong, I would have told you.”
Hearing his explanation eased my worries a little, but there was still doubt in my heart. “I just wanted to make sure I was accepted into this family. It’s very important to me,” I said again.
“And you’ve been accepted, so don’t let it bother you. This is still an adjustment period. Every parent is different, and maybe my mother just needs more time to adjust to this situation,” he said, looking at me gently.
I nodded, trying to convince myself. “Okay, maybe I’m thinking too far ahead. I’ll try to be more patient.”
Dante smiled, then put his arm around me. “Remember, we’re going to do this together. You’re not alone in this. We’re going to show that this is our family, and we’re going to raise our children with love and affection.”
From all that we talked about, I felt a little stronger. With Dante's support and determination to keep moving forward, I was confident that we would face every challenge ahead together, including getting closer to our family. And when the time was right, I hoped his mother would come and get to know our family in a positive way.
