Chapter 34

Dante's POV
"I'll do my best. Pray that I can get through this, Dante," she said, her eyes full of hope and determination. Hearing her statement, my heart felt warm. I knew how much struggle she was going through when facing all of this.
During the exercise, we tried our best. Our instructor always gave us good advice and helped us understand every movement that was safe for pregnant women. In a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere, our bodies moved to the rhythm, and I saw Aurora starting to feel more confident.
Every time she did the exercises, I could feel the excitement growing inside her. This process was part of her preparation for motherhood, and I was happy to be able to accompany her.
“Dante, thank you for being by my side. I really appreciate all your support,” Aurora said after her session was over, looking more relaxed and happy.
“Of course, Aurora. We are all one team, and I will be by your side every step of this journey,” I replied with a smile.
As we joked, laughed, and planned things to prepare for the babies, I felt the strength of our bond grow stronger. Our friendship was like a foundation to go through this challenge—hand in hand, ready to face whatever came.
When the long-awaited birth of twins arrived, I knew that we would do it together—welcoming new life with love and hope. And even though I was a little worried, I believed that everything would go well.
A few weeks later, while I was sleeping, Aurora suddenly complained of pain. The hoarse and weak voice woke me up from my sleep. “Dante, help. My stomach hurts,” she said in a panicked tone.
I rubbed my eyes, gathering my consciousness. My body woke up quickly, and my instincts immediately felt that this was not a false contraction like the ones that had happened several times lately. I could feel that Aurora might be going into labor soon.
“Yes, I will take you to the hospital,” I replied, immediately getting out of bed and moving to help her.
Seeing Aurora’s face full of pain and worry made me feel tense. “Try to take a deep breath, Aurora. We will be at the hospital soon; everything will be fine,” I said, trying to calm her down.
Quickly, I helped her get out of bed and put on comfortable clothes. Anxiety surged inside me, but I knew that I had to stay calm for her.
“I’m ready, Dante. I can’t wait any longer,” she said, wriggling her body in pain as the contractions returned.
After making sure we had everything we needed, I helped her out and drove to the hospital. During the ride, I kept trying to calm Aurora down, even though my fingers were gripping the steering wheel tightly.
“I’m here, Aurora. We’ll be there soon. Try to focus on your breathing and find your strength,” I said, squinting to look at her for a moment.
She nodded, but the worry on her face was still visible. We finally arrived at the hospital, and I immediately helped them get Aurora into a wheelchair. “We need help here!” I shouted to the medical staff when I saw them.
The medical team immediately understood the situation and rushed her to the treatment room. There, they examined Aurora quickly. In my heart, I prayed that everything would go smoothly. Every second felt like it was going by so slowly, but seeing the enthusiasm and determination on Aurora’s face gave me strength.
“I don’t mind the pain, Dante. I’ll do it. I want to see my babies,” Aurora said enthusiastically, even though her mouth was open from the pain.
“And I’ll be right there with you, Aurora. We’ll do it together,” I replied, holding her hand tightly. A sense of calm washed over me, knowing that we had finally reached the moment we had been waiting for.
As we prepared for this journey, I knew that love and support would carry us through every challenge. And by then, we would be welcoming three babies who would change our lives forever.
On the way to the hospital, Aurora continued to complain of pain, and every breath she took weighed on my soul. I had driven myself because my driver was asleep at this hour—I didn’t have the heart to wake him when Aurora needed my attention.
Beside me, Aurora continued to groan in pain as she held her stomach. It was clear that each contraction was painful for her. The relatively quiet road allowed me to drive faster, even though worry continued to plague my mind.
“Be patient, Aurora. We’re here,” I said, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay. But as I heard her screams, panic began to creep into me. I worried that she would run out of energy before we got there.
“Dante…” she said hoarsely between moans. “Can I get through this? It hurts so much.”
“I’m here with you, Aurora. You’re stronger than you think. Try to focus on your breathing, remember our children. We’ll see them soon,” I replied, trying to encourage her even though my heart was shaking watching her in pain.
Finally, we arrived at the hospital. In those anxious seconds, I immediately parked the car and helped her out. The medical team was already waiting when we arrived, and they immediately took over, taking her to emergency care.
During the ride to the treatment room, I kept holding her hand. “You can do it, Aurora. We’re almost there. Just a little more and you’ll get through this,” I said, trying to channel positive energy.
After entering the treatment room, the doctors and nurses immediately prepared everything. They asked Aurora to lie down and began monitoring her condition. Seeing the medical team working quickly and responsively gave me a little peace of mind, but the worry about Aurora’s strength still loomed.
With deep tension, I tried not to look too anxious in front of Aurora. “You’re strong, Aurora. Remember, no pain is ever worth it. We will meet our babies soon!” I said, hoping my words would give her some encouragement.
